Great reaction. The song "Deceiver, Deceiver" is one of AE's best in my opinion! Direction of the video itself, moments, great text, extremely high-quality performance. Here we have a lot of different styles of music (Punk, Speed-Thrash, Melodic Death) which together form an exceptional symbiosis and it was translated into one top song! Alissa is an extremely high-quality vocalist who, in addition to her superb voice, also has exceptional body movements and facial expressions that complete the experience of every song she performs either live or in a video clip. Alissa White-Gluz, the Beast Queen of Metal. She does have beautiful clean vocals as well, but it's almost never called for in Arch Enemy songs. She also looks like she was hitting the gym hard during COVID, to come back with abs like that. The band does have great double-guitar solos.

Alissa's growl is probably a cross between the death metal band Death's late singer Chuck Schuldiner and thrash metal band Testament's Chuck Billy. Yeah, the 2 Chuck's.

Is it possible the depth and growl/fry mix you hear is due to the vocal layering? A lot of harsh vocalists use that to make them sound a bit more beefy. AE does it kinda on and off during this song.

Her and Tatiana both have a similar harsh vocal technique, but Alissa had been doing it at a bigger level for a longer time. It’s completely different than what Courtney does, so I get what you mean by that statement. Courtney’s start with a clean tone and add distortion on each syllable

I dont know about ure singing but to me metal is just so much more than just singing. Pop music is all about the hooks and esthetichs. Metal is a mix of drums,guitarrs, base, singing and ontop of that is the reabellion against the man. Personally i have been rebelling my whole life against my mum.
