The fact that he’s no longer here makes this song hit even harder 😢 but it’s a brilliant song nonetheless linkin park forever and Chester always remembered ❤

Most of the songs were written by Mike. And the rest of the group mostly commented during editing and changes to complete it. A small number of songs were written by Chester. But Chester was very unique during the performance and conveyed the feeling of the song in the best way. in a way that directly conveys the lyrics of the song to the heart of the audience
@DaP844 ай бұрын
Yeah, but the topics were usually based on personal band discussions. That was a very common first step in the process of writing in LP

Don’t forget Brad helped write alot of their songs along side Mike..
@PenneySounds4 ай бұрын
@@adventuredoods4699 Brad mostly helped with production and arrangement rather than lyrics, as I understand. But the whole band would give feedback to whatever Mike and Chester came up with.
@PenneySounds4 ай бұрын
@@DaP84 Far from the first step, since the lyrics were usually the last thing they would add to a song, at least in those early days. We even have a demo of this one, showing the track mostly done, with Mike singing an early draft of the lyrics. Can't even really call it a draft. More of improvised placeholder vocals.
@zzvvoonnee244 ай бұрын
tbh mike is not the type of depressed person who could sort all these lyrics by himself, chester had a great deal in lyrics writing wether you accept or not, mike was individually more involved in instrumental parts, keyboards, background layers and vocals and ofc mixing and producing songs

The Catalyst is a really amazing track from them that should definitely be heard. MUsically it's a really epic piece of work, it has this fascinating relentless pace to it that's really compelling, and I love how Chester and Mike shared the vocals EQUALLY too.

This has always been my favourite Linkin Park song. I first heard it on an MP3 player from one of my older brothers, and even though I could only speak a little bit of english back then and obviously didn't understood what this song was about, I could sing every word. Now, like 17 years later, I understand the song and it made it even better. Miss Chester so much. Love these guys.

I remember hearing about Chester's death and being saddened, and even devastated. But I was not surprised. It was in so much of what he sang, and while I always wished him the best I feared it wouldn't last. Thank you, Chester, and everyone else ever involved in Linkin Park (not just the main band), for giving us all a voice that spoke to my own experiences. I don't know who I'd be or where I'd be without them, but I'm glad I've been working in suicide prevention for nearly 5 years now. Maybe I'm not explicitly doing this work in Chester's name, but let's be real; I kinda am. Love you, king. Rest in Power.

This is a common misconception. Chester said he didn’t like having his name on song credits due to the content of the material. Mike is more the dude that takes ‘credit’ for these songs. With Chester gone you’ll find the songs are no longer this deep because Mike can’t come up with this stuff on his own

I think he's talking to the people around him that tried to help him. He's had problems for a long time and I don't doubt his friends/family... whichever.. didn't try to help him in many ways. Maybe without LP he would have ended his life earlier. Maybe LP is what helped him hang on 🤷🏼♀️ So, I get the feeling he's saying thank you for talking to me and being with me and trying to help me be happier, etc., but I can't be who you are. We're not the same. The things easy for you are not easy for me. And I appreciate all you've done. Don't resent me for not listening. But Basically saying goodbye.

The chorus always makes me think of his passing. I know they wrote it together. I can’t help but think about Chester and what Chester is trying to tell us when he is gone in the chorus. I think I should also say when he says “and don’t resentment when you’re feeling empty”. It now makes me think of the anger that people felt of his suicide. Like why would he do that? How selfish of him. I personally didn’t feel that way. It just makes think of remembering the good times and memories of him. Leave out the bad moments when he died. Who cares what others say. When he went through so much and we can’t judge him. We are human and we all make mistakes and we can’t fix them all. I think that’s the message. It was such a basket case of all emotions and things that we still don’t know about or understand.

more linkin park - a light that never comes, bleed it out, breaking the habit, faint, lost in the echo, paper cut, one step closer, somewhere i belong, numb, what i've done, waiting for the end, blackout, the catalyst, in my remains, burn it down, lies greed misery, i'll be gone, victimized, roads untraveled, skin to bone, until it breaks, guilty all the same, until its gone, new divide, runaway, by myself, lying from you, from the inside, no more sorrow, shadow of the day,
