France wing Rayan Rupert 🇫🇷 could be the 2023 #NBADraft's defensive specialist. What did his #NBL season with the New Zealand Breakers do for his stock? He'll play for the #Portland Trail Blazers next season.

I like your analysis/breakdowns of players. I think it’s good to show the deficiencies of each player. Some of the deficiencies are very correctable though. I like the potential of the 3 French wing players. A GM can’t go wrong drafting any of them, but always depends on desire, work ethic, humility and willingness to learn. Interview process is very important! As comparisons, Rayan and Bilal can be like a Mikal Bridges, Malik Monk (on offense) or Andrew Wiggins. Sidy with his larger frame and athleticism can be similar to OG Anonoby or even a Jimmy Butler. Keep up the great work! I’ve been a Lakers fan since the sixties, but soured on them when they hired Pelinka and Magic as personnel decision makers, and didn’t like Lebron joining them, in which I said it will ruin the future of the franchise ( they then traded all their young players and draft picks). I like the direction of the OKC Thunder since January 2022. Drafting good young talent, my prediction is at least 2025 WCFinals! I really like Toumani Camara as a second round pick. Spot up shooter but can post up and makes nice passes off the bounce with either hand, ambidextrous with his jump hooks and finishes around the rim. Has enough athleticism to compete defensively and to develop a change of direction pull ups. What do you think?

Thanks, appreciate the support! I also really like all thee French wings in Rupert, Sidy (I have a video on him and he's in my first round for sure), and Coulibaly (video on him coming out soon). I have a video (NBA DRAFT COMBINE SLEEPERS) in which I touch on Toumani. I think he'd be good value in the late second round - especially now that a bunch of quality players decided to return to school - or as an undrafted free agent. The outside shot is the biggest question. He made a big leap this year, but it could be an outlier. Has shot it poorly otherwise and also his free throw numbers aren't that encouraging. Camara is pretty dominant around the rim though & I like his touch, so I'm more so looking for him to maybe play out of less dribbles and faster, since the pace of the NBA will be totally different in college. Plus, he's not going to be anywhere as featured anywhere else as he was at Dayton.

@@FloorandCeiling Thank you for the reply. I should say that I live here in Thailand. I could only view highlights, No College Basketball is shown here. Yes, Toumani Camara 3 point and FT percentages were not good. But he has good form on his shot so I think he can improve, but only through hard work. This is where that inner drive/desire to get better comes into play. Same is true for the 3 French players. Get into the gym and get up the reps with different variations of jump shots.

Really high value draft for Portland with Scoot at 3, then Kris Murray, and Rupert in the late second!

Would look good next to Dame Wembanyama Grant and Sharpe. Can impact the game with defense and no expectations on offense
@FloorandCeiling
@FloorandCeiling Жыл бұрын
Right now, I'm not sure Rupert will be there by the time Portland is on the clock but I do understand your rationale. I think the right move with Dame is to surround him with wings who can defend and space the floor. Some other guys who could fit that profile are Sidy Cissoko, Dariq Whitehead or Maxwell Lewis. The thing is, if the Blazers truly want to compete, I feel like they'd be better off acquiring those players in trades/free agency (in other words, already established in the NBA) rather than through the draft. Those players are then in need of development and take a few years (think Anfernee Simons or even now with Sharpe). Overall, Portland is in a tricky spot. They don't win enough or lose enough.

In principle Rupert should be chosen by a team with a poor defensive rating. Considering he's expected to be picked around the 20th spot he could be an option for Portland, but I'd put my money on Utah or Indiana.

FRANK NTLIKINA 2.0
@FloorandCeiling
@FloorandCeiling Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Ntilikina came into the league as much more of a guard and a ballhandler. His limitations have changed his role as time has gone by - and he's playing off other initiators (mainly Luka Doncic) in Dallas - but I think Rupert is being drafted much more as a wing. Still, I think their defensive upside is comparable.

Thanks for watching! I think there’s two things here. On one hand, I would be intrigued to see how Toronto would develop Rupert because he sincerely fits their mold. However, after listening to Masai Ujiri’s recent comments after this season, it seems like the Raptors might pivot away from that. They definitely need more scoring and self-creation, which Rupert cannot bring right off the bat barring surprise.

@Floor and Ceiling your right, but he has such raw potential. I know it will take time for him to develop, but in the long term, I think he fits really well.

Thanks for watching! He’d give the Thunder ultimate switchability, especially factoring Chet at the 5 in. That’s what I love about the most about Rupert. The Thunder can probably also afford to be patient with him offensively. I think there’s an interesting debate to be had between Rupert and Sidy Cissoko, who I believe is another French wing that teams should be looking at in the late lottery-early 20s range.

@@FloorandCeiling awesome comment. Thank you for replying. It feels as if he might still be there at #18-#22 or so. I wonder if it might makes sense to dip into the treasure trove of assets and trade for second first round pick to grab him and someone else at #12. It’s a little later, but I wonder if you couldn’t swallow Holmes contract to move up to #24 out of the second round.
