I think there are a few engineers at Ford who need to watch this and take note of the WET clutch design.

Do you know the common cause for the clutch 2, pressure to high fault? Great video!

Raybestos Powertrain What are your thoughts on the different brands of ATF DUal Clutch fluid available for the DL501? Specifically Redline's variant? Do you recommend sticking with OEM? Motul? Liqui Moly? Thanks!
@RaybestosGarage9 жыл бұрын
Jjones24680 In this case, stick with OE.

The steel plates on the K1 have two smaller tangs (on the outside diameter) diametrically opposite. Should these be aligned ? Do they matter ?
@RaybestosGarage Жыл бұрын
It is not necessary to align them.

Hi! Any idea what causes the code clutch 1 slippage too high? Thanks in advance!

I recently bought and replaced my mechatronics unit on my 2012 Audi S4 but am still running into some issues. My car has a delay engagement when going into Drive from reverse. I can also hear a slight clank as it engages into drive. Do I have to replace my clutches?

Do the Raybestos clutch plates have a higher friction rating than the OEM components?
@raybestospowertraingarage35344 жыл бұрын
Our DL501 plates are HE material which is an OE replacement material. We don't data vs OE plates for this application at this time.

whats the deal with these clutches at idle in drive when stooped in traffic ? Are they disengaged or are they just slipping with very little friction ? to me it feels like a torque converter but i know this is not the case so whats the deal? should i be putting it in neutral ?

For diagnostic help we would recommend contacting one of the Tech organizations (ATRA or ATSG) or online groups like the Transmission Brotherhood on Facebook or TRNW.

is there 7 speed wet dual clutch DSG? I knew that wets are 6 speed dry is 7. very helpful video thanks.
@nicktruncone82848 жыл бұрын
+Hasan Murat Sarikaya Yes, Mercedes has a 7G-DCT wet dual clutch. And, the DL501 in this video is a 7-speed wet dual clutch.
@avinashclt7 жыл бұрын
The 6-speed wet (DQ250) and 7-speed dry (DQ200) were both intended for tranverse applications. Later DQ500 7-speed wet came in for transverse higher torque applications. For the longitudinal applications, only the DL501 7-speed DSG has been in use, with some minor generation changes in them.

You nerd to show how to replace the clutch pistons. The frictions vfc will never fail if the piston seals are intact.

call me old school but it makes me laugh how so many mechanics wear gloves now. I've been working on cars for over 40 years and the only time I wear gloves is during an oil change when the filter is to hot to handle. The dirty fingernails are"distinctive" lol

I'm an Audi mechanic and I wear gloves all the time for multiple reasons. First if all I don't want to get cancer...all those chemicals soak into your body through the skin. Second, I work on very expensive cars....try cleaning an alcantara headliner or seat once you get it dirty. Third, you shouldn't be able to guess someone's profession by looking at their hands, I enjoy my hands clean. Fourth, my wife would not appreciate me touching her with filthy hands....I know I wouldn't want to have greasy hands all over me. So yeah, laugh it up all you want but I won't be a grease monkey.
@datsuntoyy3 жыл бұрын
@@kinderutz First, there's 100's of thousands of mechanics. Never heard of a case related to chemicals. If you're really worried, stop drinking flouridated water Second, if you're worried about about getting grease inside, you can do that just as easily with gloves as without. I own one of thoes expensive cars with an interior like that (an Audi as does my wife). I've NEVER gotten grease inside anybodys' car nor have I given a car back with grease on the fenders, hood, wheels, door handles or anymore under the hood than it arrived with. Third, a little grease under the fingernails shows people you work hard for a living. Wash your hands before you touch your wife. Penty of good soaps to wash your hands with, the same stuff you use before you go inside the car. Grease monkeys can wear gloves also and plenty of good mechanics don't so the statement is rather pointless. I'm not one of thoes new generation who are afraid of a little dirt. On a different note, have you seen any clutch failures in the DL501?
@brandonf40874 жыл бұрын
Yeah don’t buy these friction /steel plates. Go with another company like SSP. Had the Raybestos clutch pack for less than 10k miles before k1 clutch (odd gears) burnt up. Huge waste of time. B8.5 s4 APR stage 2 Single pulley 93oct
@yahyah863 жыл бұрын
hey what did you end up using? SSP $1400 seems a little steep for a set of clutches and 600ft of torque is a little much for even stage 2-3 dual pulley
