A delight to watch :) So, the question I have: would you finally be able to make Rayman NOT die from water - with the amount of variables available?! :D Probably facing the 'hard-coded truth' here ...

Rayman dying from water is done through a specific collision type, so yeah, that could easily be changed :) But we can't really add any physics to it, like swimming or so, so you'd just go right through the water.

So if you'd try it, would Ray still have the walking or running physics active, then walking on top of the water, or would it keep on moving with his head slightly above the water textures? :D Anyway, interesting to think about! I loved the underwater levels/parts from Rayman 2 ;-)

Tiles are always behind objects, so you'd essentially be inside the water, with it appearing behind you :p

I noticed that the sky is scrolling automatically at 1:57. This isn't normally the case, is it? Did you add it? And is it even possible to use the style of the Rayman 2 prototype? Damn. And I never noticed that the clouds have little tears. At least it looks like that to me.

If you enable differential scrolling in the setting the backgrounds will have parallax scrolling. This is defaulted on PS1 already. You will be able to modify the tilesets, so you could probably import the R2 tiles, yeah.

Huh... this is godlike. I was always so fascinated with Rayman designer, but it was old and a pain to use. So glad we got this type of talent!! So you're showing a lot of different games here, is it that each ISO is editable and supported or is this like a whole new engine? How will levels be shared, if at all?

The program we're making is both a viewer and editor. So we're reverse engineering all versions to have them all be viewable at least. Editing will only be available on a few versions, such as PC and PS1. The way it'll work, at least to begin with, is by editing existing levels. In Rayman Designer you can still create all new levels like usual. You can share a level just by sending the file :)

That won't matter. This will work on any version no matter the mods or release. We're essentially reading the game files like the game engine itself does :)

@@Cronnicossy Nothing we have planned really, but could maybe make a channel in one of the Rayman servers for it eventually. The project is still early in development. While we got map viewing working for most versions we need to finish up the editor UI etc.

You can add weather effects, yes. Anything available in the game can be added or modified.

You can edit maps from any Rayman 1 version with this, including from Designer.

I loaded up as far as Unity, but I can't get it to actually load any levels. I set the directory to Rayman PC. What file and format would you recommend for the PS1 version?

Keep in mind this is very early, so it's not very user friendly right now :) For PC, you should set the path to the "Rayman" directory, so the one which contains the PCMAP folder. For PS1 you just set it to the root directory as they appear in the disc. Currently the PAL version isn't supported as we haven't extracted the pointers yet. If you're on Discord I can invite you to the modding server if you'd like. It'd be easier answering questions there as that's where we're working on it from.
