Just a note: The soundtrack that I remastered is from the Revolution version of the game, but the footage is from the PC version of the game. The Revolution version is an enhanced PS2 port of the base game with an added hub world and a few new scenarios. This means that some tracks don't have accompanying footage, so I just let the previous footage continue playing. :) Also, I'm very sorry if this video contains ads. KZbin once again, INCORRECTLY marked part of this as copyrighted by some band I've never heard of and who has no affiliation with this content. Rather than have that small section of the video deleted, I'm just going to leave it as is. 😠

Awesome compilation of an amazing OST that brings me back to my childhood. One of my favorite things about the Rayman 2 OST is how it remixes its main theme into many of the level themes in creative ways. For example, it is featured very centrally in Hit It!, The Precipice and The Prison Ship, but if you listen very carefully you can hear the main riff in Whale Bay and The Ancient Lava Temple tracks as well. There are probably other examples too, those are just the ones I could find.

@@genkotone7979So how is this remastered in any way ? I don't get it
@genkotone7979 Жыл бұрын
@@Thomas-uy4vn Just like the musical term used, the soundtrack is overall remastered. Meaning the quality just got better and refined based on the samples I've heard. There also seems to be minor changes to some songs, but not sure if that's the case or if the PS2 audio back then made me not hear it. Each individual track was either redone or processed to have a more cleaner and crispier sound that should meet today's standards compared to back then. The soundtrack is still faithful to the original, it's not a remake. It's just a remaster.

I wonder how you remastered it and what it means to "remaster a soundtrack". Made a similar song from scratch? or somehow tuned the original? Also, I doubt youtube is the best place for Ultra High Quality 360 Audio . But I digress.
@GEMGaming_yt Жыл бұрын
I've been contemplating taking "Remastered" out of the title in favor of leaving the ultra high quality part. People seem to get confused about what a remaster is, and people could have multiple definitions I suppose. What I mean by the term is taking the original audio and making it better. Think of it like a graphics person taking a scratched up old photo and making it look new again. That's what I'm doing. I'm not reorchestrating anything, I'm not a musician, all I am is someone who loves music from my favorite video games with tools at my disposal to make it sound better. And listening to that music with visuals accompanied is something that I would want to see, so that's what I do. And you're right, KZbin is not the place to hear impeccable audio quality. That's why I offer the original files through Patreon. I do charge a one time $5 fee to access the files, but you have to understand that this is A LOT of work. One video could take me months of work in my free time to finish. I do really appreciate you watching my content. It makes me want to make more. But videos are coming out slower and slower as I realize more and more that I really enjoy my free time and I have SO MANY games to check off my backlog.

What stereo imager plugin you use if it's not a secret?
@GEMGaming_yt3 жыл бұрын
I use the Stereo Expander effect in Adobe Premier. No, it's not super high tech, but it gives a result that works really well. When I'm processing the music, I can't just process every song the same way, so I use this effect because I can adjust the expansion. That's just one of a few steps. Granted, this only works with music that is in stereo to begin with.
@---pp7tq3 жыл бұрын
@@GEMGaming_yt Interesting! Can you share with any other important plugins in the process?
@GEMGaming_yt3 жыл бұрын
I do all of the processing within Adobe Audition (I said Premiere above but it was a mistake, lol. I'm working in Premiere at the moment and it slipped out). But I do them in a particular order and I take care to check each track through at every step so I don't mess with the sound. Basically, I widen the audio, then adjust the levels to bring out the low and high ends, then master it. All done within Audition. I have to be really careful at each step because it's too easy to blow out the audio over the volume threshold, resulting is lost audio information and it will sound terrible. So, I have to check each song every step of the way.
@---pp7tq3 жыл бұрын
@@GEMGaming_yt I'm very interested in hearing out what would be your feelings about using Spleeter and its stem/tracks separation tool. It allows to manipulate e.g. drum track separately, but it cuts everything to 16kHz in Spek (32kHz in total) in one of the model variants. It might be useful to achieve even better results. Theoretically it os not any loss when 22kHz files are being processed. Well, if your interested hearing some feedback about your work. I really like how your masters are loud, bass vivid, though too boomy (e.g. lower bass in Lava flying segments), and scene wide like an airport, but sometimes the stereo enhancer or reverb/echo (you did use those as well?) is all over of some samples and it makes the sound very strange and unnatural. Simply, some instruments have detestable echo. But still, some tracks and/or fragments sound decent. Another problem in your recordings is audible artifacts after using some EQ/exciter/harmonics enhancer. I think there might be something a bit wrong with your monitors/headphones that you cannot hear it (or you leave it as it is on purpose). I don't know whether Audition stock plugins will be enough in this matter, but there are a lot of plugins serving for filtering out various types of noise audible in these recordings. I mean various types of deesers, decklicker/decrackler, dehisser, denoiser, declipper, sometimes gate. When you use some of these plugins, you naturally lowering amount of higher tones in your recordings, but in the end, you compensate it with more aggressive exciter or EQ settings, so in the end the sound is less harsh. The problem has nothing to do with YT compression. Whenever you saturate low sample rate signal, the artifacts show in various tracks with varying intensity. The overall sound might be too harsh after good saturation and also after applying stereo enhancer, which also make the things worse in this matter. If you can't really hear what I mean, or you don't have serious class equipment, just try even putting on your headphones, use some decent EQ, and/or some common sound enhancer like e.g. Dolby, tweak them all to the level when your favourite music sounds good enough, and then play your own tracks. Now you should hear it. Whenever your music is worse in some aspects from popular music made by professional engineers, it becomes your fault. Though working on such sh* quality music is difficult task, it forces you to commit less mistakes because of possible outcomes of the final effect - remastering difficult sources of the music, which is very challenging, but rewarding task. In the very end, I'd encourage you to look for more VSTs - saturators/harmonics enhancers/crystallizers, exciters, multi band EQs. Some of them even for free. I'm sure that you could achieve even better results with such better plugins. And they'll become handy when you start filtering out a noise more aggressively. Another thing, is possibly upgrading something in your sound system. Most probably it has not enough bass, not enough higher tones, but great feeling of proper and modern soundstage representation. Whenever you turn on EQ when listening to music, be aware that it changes the soundstage representation, even completely flattering it in some cases. In general, you've stepped in some deep sh*, but I really wish you luck and good progress. After some years you'll be proud of yourself hearing, it all got better. Cheers

@@---pp7tq Thank you for this feedback. It really sounds like you have a better grasp on this stuff than I do. But I’m learning! I will admit that this isn’t my best work. I did notice that some of the music, especially in the first half of the video, have some real issues with the low end. (And I also just realized while working on my current project, that I may have processed every single track here with the exciter turned up too high and didn’t notice.) I think some of the blame could go on the sheer scale of this video. I was willing to let some of the issues go since there were so many tracks to process. I’m taking greater care now to try and catch these issues and really listen for them. The source material could be a cause for concern as well. In the current project, I’m noticing some sounds I’ve never noticed before that really come through after processing and they don’t sound very good. However, they ARE present in the source material and it’s not my place to remove them. So I have to make decisions wether to leave them or purposefully not process that aspect as much. Although my process could be better, and it’a always getting better as I learn more, I do this out of love. :) Again, thanks for this very informative feedback. I’ll look into the items you mentioned. Cheers.

It's very disorienting and I can't listen to it because of this. Listened to another track and now it's my left ear that feels lonely. Guess I can't listen to 360. It stays on one side for way way too long. Like the Psycho Spider track has all the bass on the left side only and the high pitched stuff also only on the left side with some occasional sounds on the right.
@GEMGaming_yt2 жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely sure what you're hearing..... What you're describing sounds like it's an issue with your sound equipment. Not sure if you're listening with a phone or computer, wired headphones or bluetooth. Check your hardware and listen again. I just listed to Psycho Spider and it sounds pretty balanced to me. Lows and highs in both ears. Sometimes an instrument is on one side and not the other, but that's because the music is composed that way. But it all sounds great, not remotely is one ear "lonely". The 360 mentioned in the title really only means that the music is more stereo. And in that regard, I don't actually do anything to the audio to make it more in one ear than the other. The audio is already like that. I just make it more apparent.
