Rayman 3 review - A Rayman game without Michel Ancel

I'm gonna be taking a close look at Rayman 3 hoodlum havoc and see if it holds up.

I think the ending in Rayman 3 was supposed to be a flashback on how Andre came to be. Which WAS Rayman's hands doing the whole puppet shtick. It was showing us how Andre was born.

4:50 Begoniax had such a long storyline cut out, where she tries to brew a potion to make her beautiful again. After defeating Razoff he begins to cry and a teardrop falls onto a nearby Ugly which then turns into a beautiful butterfly. Realizing that it's Razoffs tears that were the missing ingredient for the potion Begoniax uses it on herself, becomes beautiful so Razoff falls in love with her and as a reward shows Rayman the way to the Land of the livid dead. This was btw also the section where Ssssam from the second game should've appeared (at the magic mirror), but he was cut as well, all due to time restrains. (what a shame) Rayman 3 was the first Rayman game I ever played as a child and of course I loved it. The designs of the enemies and especially the soundtrack are amazing. I love it all. Also, yeah the scoring system is a bit weird, but you can also just ignore it. When I was a child I didn't even know about the two bugs you could collect lol. The score system also is relying alot on you killing a bunch of enemies back to back in order to keep the score up. (especially when you want to unlock the secret room in the tower of Leptis) Afaik tho, the original version of Rayman 3 lets you switch between levels and saves the progress in the level you switched from. Finally having played the other two Rayman games I can see why people love them so much. But since every Rayman game does something different, it's no wonder peoples opinions on what game is the best of them vary a ton.

This is known as the edgy rayman but still a nice dude at heart. This game was an attempt as meta humour

IDK if I would call it edgy, but it was a damn solid game. Maybe edgy for the early 2000s though but it is complete silly humor in 2024. These games are so f**king special though and so ahead of their time as far as the gameplay goes!

I personally refer him as Modern Rayman since that's where he got rid of his classic design.

That game was so rushed, it's not even funny. It's so obvious that at that point, UbiSoft was already beginning to not care about Rayman. It seems like that game barely had a year of development, Rayman 3 on GBA was a late Rayman 2 port with a rushed Rayman 3 skin put on top, Rayman Raving Rabbid on GBA is really short and really buggy (and it uses the Rayman 4 prototype as a base) and Rayman Raving Rabbid on Wii... I think the story is well-known at that point, they had only a few weeks to convert their platformer prototype into the minigame collection that we know today, after being told that they HAD to release it on the Wii before Christmas. UbiSoft is just really bad when it comes to Rayman, it's not something recent, it was always the case. Also, I think the English translation is pretty bad. As a French-speaker, I played the original French version and I just think it's a lot funnier.

At least we kinda got something rayman 4 through the GBA version. It wasnt that buggy as far as i remember though its definetly underwhelming compared to what was supposed to be the real deal. The movment and platforming was definetly not as fast, fun and flexible as the Ubiart games or even Rayman 1.

@@lm9029 Some of the abilities are really janky and the last level (which is almost just the first level in reverse) has ennemies that you can't kill without corrupting the whole screen. Speedrunners have apparently discovered a glitch last year that if you press A+B while selecting a level, a whole bunch of crap can happen, like crashing the game, putting you in the wrong level or even putting you in an unbeatable glitched level. There are so many little glitches, it's just a shame since it's essentially our only look at what could've been the true Rayman 4.

@@MrCed122 Huh. The only thing i noticed playing normally was that you could softlock if you deployed a carrot with the granny disguise while bouncing on a trampoline object. Yeah its a real shame the main appeal of the GBA version is the mystery of Rayman 4. I doubt people would talk about it if the main game actually released.

That would tracks with what they're saying in French (where the voice acting is a lot better and clearer since it's the original dub). For information, in French, they're saying "Globox l'a avalé, il en a fait qu'une bouchée!" ("Globox swallowed him, in just one bite!")

Have you ever played Sheep Dog n Wolf? Right in the tutorial, there's a jump that you can fail and Daffy Duck - the duck who is particularly well-known for gloating and then having his schemes backfiring - will laugh at you for falling into the pit. Murphy in Rayman 3 wasn't that mean

I had pretty much the same experience with the HD version. Having to replay most of the game due to one missing collectible and then restarting the game if you don't get 100% was quite annoying. And a lot of textures are messed up because they're upside-down for some reason 😛 As for the game itself, I'm with you on a lot of it. I prefer Rayman 2 over this. It's still a really fun game, but it doesn't work as well for me. It's not as memorable or replayable.
