Rayman Origins: Candy Chateau Mod

Candy Chateau: home of Mr Dark and...sweets. Lots and lots of sweets. And fire-breathing clowns. Um, just like in Rayman 1. ^^'
Due to time constraints (I was trying to get the recordings to sync with the music as much as I could) there's a lot of things I had to leave out here. I could only record in 480p too, so some of the details got lost during the recording process.
Hopefully the blue patches in the first few levels don't spoil the overall look too much. Those bits don't seem to be moddable... we'll just have to pretend Candy Land gets occasional flooding or something. :/
The nymph/fairy in this mod is Cara Mel, one of my own characters.
I had reservations about using Mr Dark as the boss as there's
nothing subtle or mysterious about being turned into a great big lumpy dragon, but I really wanted to include him somewhere as he's my favourite character and he didn't even get a cameo in Origins or Legends (unless you count the scrappy doodles Ales Mansay did in Origins).
He seems to have shrunk a bit since his last appearance... and is now Italian. Brain explodes
**NOTE**
Very rarely the mod will display map textures where the backgrounds should be. I don't know if this is a problem with the mod or Texmod, or if it's just my laptop. If it happens, try closing the game and Texmod, then running the game from texmod again - this usually fixes it.
HOW TO RUN MODS
---------------------------------
To run the mod files you need a program called Texmod, which you can download from here: code.google.com/archive/p/tex... (select the texmod zip file at the bottom of the list).
1. Open Texmod and click the large yellow folder icon in the top left corner. Select "Rayman Origins.exe" (usually found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Rayman Origins\).
2. Select Package Mode in Texmod, then select the mod (.tpf file) by clicking the small yellow file icon to the right.
3. Click "Run" and the game should load with the selected mods.
4. Enjoy! :)

+Sarah Seaton Sorry for the late reply, somehow I missed a whole bunch of messages. :s I originally tried modding the Magician and found him almost impossible to mod because of his shape. For some reason most of the details get shrunk down or lost during the modding process. :(

I like your Rayman 1 Mods! Problem is even though there are six in both games, what will happen to the Magician Boss?

Amazing Rushil I have no idea at the moment, seeing as he didn't appear in Rayman 1 (although some people think he's Rayman 1's Magician character in Teensie form). I've found him virtually impossible to mod due to the shape of his nose, which stops you changing his appearance much. He'll probably end up keeping his Origins form. I'm not sure how much further I can take this in terms of it being a replica of Rayman 1. I'll probably mod the Desert of Didgeridoos into Band Land, and possibly Mystical Pique could be turned into Blue Mountains, but I'm unsure about the other areas. Jibberish Jungle's pretty much the same as Pink Plant Woods and already has Bzzzit, and the Caves of Skops are nothing like the Sea of Serendipity levels...

are these mods compatible with the steam version? also, could you try to make a picture city mod for the water level? (can't remember it's name) just because I want to use your mods all at the same time but dream forest and picture city both replace the forest level? if requests aren't up at this time, you don't have to do anything but it's just a suggestion from me.

Unfortunately I'm not able to make new mods at the moment, though I had thought about making a different Picture City new since it really needs updating. I'm not sure if the mods work with Steam but my guess is they probably will as it's the PC version of the game.

Thanks, glad you liked the mods! I don't have any plans to make more mods at the moment but think Goth Rayman would be difficult due to the spiky hair. It would be tricky to get it to fit the sprite without shrinking the spikes too much.

My health hasn't been very good these last few months and some of my family members have been ill too, so I've hardly had any time to work on mods. I was hoping to finish a mod this month but it might it might have to wait until July. Thanks for asking though.

how do you make mods for this game?

I use a program called Texmod to make a copy of every texture I want to change, then modify the texture files one at a time by redrawing them using Paint Tool SAI. When the files have all been modified and I've checked to make sure they look okay I use Texmod to combine them into one big texture file. The texture file is the actual "mod", though it only works when Texmod is running it.

You'd almost certainly need Framework. Texmod only allows you to change what's already there rather than redesign the levels themselves.
