I concur. These instructional videos are terrific. Jim is clearly knowledgeable and has a really nice way of sharing information that with those of us who do not have the same technical abilities. I oftentimes take my lap top with me on the boat and stream these videos as I prepare for a cruise. Raymarine would be well advised to let Jim take a red pencil to their user manual to make it understandable for the average boater. I have shown some of these to my friends with Garmins and they were knocked out by the resource and disappointed they do not have one for their equipment. Thanks for this.

Hi 👋 I have bought a axion 7 for my Bavaria 36. Now I have older instruments and I am trying to get the depth to show on the axiom. I have bought a seatalk 1 to seatalk ng converter and instruments I have are the Raymarine ST50 tridata gauge plus and autopilot gauge. I have the seatalk 1 to seatalk ng cable going from autopilot gauge to yellow socket on the converter. On the ST50 unit the only spare cable has a 3 pin fe mail connector on which won’t fit the converter 5 pin type. I’m stuck, how do I get the depth on my axion from my ST50 unit.?.
@Raymarine
@Raymarine 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question! From the sound of your description your ST50 instrument uses an even older style of Sea Talk 1 connector that was round, rather than crescent-shaped. The rear of those ST50 instruments had 2 shore cable pigtails, each with a 3-pin round connector. One pigtail is male, the other female. In later generations of SeaTalk 1 devices we switched to a wide, crescent shaped connector with 3 pins. On those devices all of the cables are female, and all of the connections on-device are male. The cable adapter that fits into the yellow port on the ST1 to STNG converter kit has one of these style connectors on its SeaTalk 1 side. To solve your issue we need to adapt that connector to plug or splice into your ST50 instrument. If you prefer to plug it all together you'll need to items, an adapter cable and a SeaTalk 3-way block. The adapter cable comes in 2 variants. Check the empty connection on your ST50 to figure out which you'll need: D187 has the ST50-style male connector on one end, and then the SeaTalk flat on the other end. D188 has the ST50-style female connector on one end, and then the SeaTalk flat on the other end. D244 is a SeaTalk 3-way connector for the flat-style connectors. It allows up to 3 devices to plug together If you Google these Raymarine part numbers you can find pictures of them online. Any Raymarine dealer or online reseller can get them for you. eBay is also a great source for cables and parts like this. Purchase either D187 or D188 as needed, and also purchase one of D244. Connect the round D187/D188 connector to the empty pigtail on the ST50 instrument. Plug the other end into the 3-way. Plug the yellow-tipped adapter cable included with the conversion kit into the ST1 to STNG adapter's Yellow spur port. Plug the flat end into the 3-way connector. You can leave the weather cap that is tethered to the 3-way connector in to keep moisture out of the unused port. Now, your ST50 SeaTalk 1 information will flow through the converter, to Axiom, and vice-versa.

This has been a very valuable video 👍🏻These short tech tips are really helpful. I was thinking about a Raymarine Axiom simulation app, where you can train your abilities and the use of Raymarine plotters at home. Especially for holiday boaters. This would be a nice one.
@Raymarine
@Raymarine 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. Axiom does have an onboard simulator that can be used to create a data stream on the display and operate most of its features. From the home screen touch on the Profile icon on the center of the screen. If you've never changed it or created a custom profile it probably says "Skipper" and has a Captain's hat as its icon. This takes you into the profile editor. You'll see 2 tabs called "My Profiles" and "Demo Profiles." My Profiles are live profiles that will utilize your boat's real GPS, instruments, radar, sonar etc. Touch Demo Profile, and you'll see simulation options. I suggest touching whichever one is closest to the way you use your boat. This will turn on the simulated feeds and will disconnect all of your live sensors. Once the simulation is running, you can change its location through the chart app. Open the chart application and position the chart wherever you want to see. Then long-press on the chart, select MORE OPTIONS.....MOVE BOAT HERE. This moves the starting point of the simulation. The simulated boat will follow waypoints or routes you create while in simulation mode.

@@Raymarine Thanks for your answer. This I know. Unfortunately my plotter is on my boat 500 miles away. And it's a fixed installation. So I cannot train at home. For this an app for smartphones would be great.

Love these vids! Feature suggestion: It would be awesome if the options to add data points could be filtered to those that are actually reporting data, which would make the selection process much easier if the vessel only has a limited number of transducers. I find myself clicking through the wide array of options before actually finding useful information. Thanks again!

Hi Brian. Thanks for the comment. It is an excellent suggestion and I will make sure our development team hears it. I agree 100%, that it does take a lot of hunting in the data menu to find the item you're looking for. Hopefully we can improve that in a future release.

Hi Jim,can you tell me how to add external apps to the apps page?
@Raymarine
@Raymarine 3 жыл бұрын
We offer a selection of curated apps that can run on Axiom. Many are pre-installed but there are a few others that can be manually added. Our app library is here: www.raymarine.com/multifunction-displays/lighthouse3/lighthouse-apps.html You can download the .APK files for apps from that web page. Copy the file to a micro SD card and plug it into Axiom. From the homescreen open the Apps library on Axiom. Touch the button "Install from SD/USB" on the bottom right corner, browse to the file on your memory card, and Axiom will install it and add it to the apps library. We don't permit unapproved Android apps to run on the system.

Hi Jim, My 2022 Raymarine Axiom 12' with a 2022 Mercury Verado illustrates the engine trim as a blue bar where the lower part goes up and down? I've seen numerous other setups where they view the trim as a %-number. Is this something I can change in the settings (have tried), do I need another app (Mercury Vesselview), or do I need a software update, or do I need another gateway (VesselView)?
@Raymarine
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Some of the fields on the Dashboard engine display are editable. Others can be hidden, but not edited. If you are looking at a dual-engine layout, the trim tabs with the blue bar graph readout are in the center between the tachometers. Long-press on it and select hide to remove it. There are 3 fields below the tachs that can be edited. Long-press on one or them, select Edit, then in the data editor scroll to the bottom to Trim Tabs and add them to the layout. In that format, the are shows as a percentage, rather than as a graph.

Hi Jim. Finding your videos really useful. Many thanks. Got a question. Is it possible to alter the size of the data boxes in the dashboard displays (i.e. can I make the data boxes either side of the wind display in the 'sailing' dashboard page bigger) ?
@Raymarine

Thanks for watching, Richard. The boxes in the pre-built dashboard display are fixed in size. You can add a page to the dashboard with larger-sized boxes and populate it with data of your choosing, with some limitations.

Thanks Jim for doing great Raymarine videos. How do I bring up sail racing Dashboard on my Axiom Pro 9 with Lighthouse 4 installed. It says available Race Timer, SmartStart, Race Star Sidebar, Predict wind off shore App etc. If you can do a video on MFD racing features would be great too such as self tacking autopilot, . Thanks much.

Hi Nate. Thanks for watching! On your Axiom, the sailing-specific pages are located in the Dashboard app. There are other features peppered through the Chart application. The visibility of these features and pages are dependent on the boat-type settings you chose when you setup Axiom. Go to Home...Settings...Boat Details. For Boat Type, make sure you have chosen one of the sail options. Once you have done that, you'll see additional options in there come to life to choose whether to enable Sail Performance Features by using a Polar, or Fixed Angle calculations. I suggest choosing Polar. You'll then get an option to choose the make and model of your boat. When you go into the Dashboard app, after enabling Sail Performance features, there will be some additional pre-built pages available including Sailing and Race Start. There are some specialized layouts in there that are optimized with an enhanced wind instrument, tack data, target and polar data, etc. In your Chart app touch Menu...Settings....and there is a tab for Laylines. You can enable or disable them and set some other related parameters. When a sail profile is chosen there are also additional data items that become available. They can be shown on Dashboard pages, floated over other apps, or assigned to the slide-out sidebar. Things like target speed and polar percentage, sail-specific distance and time to waypoint, VMG, etc. We'll try to get another sailing-focused episode on ASAP.

Hey Jim I have a 2022 True North 34O with twin 2022 Suzuki 300 Outboards. I also have a new Raymarine Axiom chart plotter. The Engine data screen shows the engine rpm’s and water temperature, but not the fuel tank levels, trim tab angles or oil pressure. Any suggestions how to add this data to the engine screen?
@Raymarine
@Raymarine 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Robert. The amount of engine-related data you will see can vary a bit depending on the engine manufacturer. Their are specific PGNs (sentences) for each type of information (tanks, trim tabs, tilt, etc.) Axiom can only display data is the PGN is being transmitted to it. Do you happen to know where the NMEA2000 data is coming from? We might be able to look at the documentation for that device and see which PGNs it outputs.

Just installed an Axiom 9+ and linked it to a multi ST60 through a backbone/seatalk converter. The ST60 multi is SeaTalk linked to a further 3 ST60 instruments (depth, speed and wind). How do I see the ST60 info on the Axiom please? Complete novice to the Axiom unit so any help much appreciated. Thanks
@Raymarine
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Hello Bob. The converter takes care of all the data translation for you. The data from your ST60 instruments feeds into Axiom's data boxes, data sidebars and dashboard application. You can customize any of those locations to show you things like depth, speed, wind, etc. For cells in the dashboard app or sidebar, long-press and select Edit, then select the data you want to see from the data menu that appears. You can add floating data items on any page by going to Menu...Settings...Page Settings...Edit Data Overlays.

What if depth is listed but it is blank on the screen at the steering station but shows up on the small read out screen down below. Please advise as to how to get the depth to show up on the steering station screen.
@Raymarine
@Raymarine 11 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching the show! Normally depth information is shared across the networking that links together the larger chartplotter displays (like Axiom) and the smaller instrument displays. If you're getting depth on the instrument, but not on the Axiom, then either they are not networked together, or, you may need to make a settings adjustment on Axiom. We'll look at the settings issue first, as that will answer whether or not they are networked together. On your Axiom display touch Home...Settings....Network...Data Sources. A tabbed matrix will appear with all of your major data types across the top (GPS, heading, wind, depth, etc.) Touch the tab for depth. Axiom will scan the network looking for devices that can provide depth information. They'll be displayed in a list. Hopefully, you'll see the name of your depth instrument from down below in the list. If you do, touch it to assign it as the preferred source for depth information. Now you can exit back to where the depth was previously missing, and it should be populating now. If when you get to that Depth tab, and your instrument is NOT listed as a source of depth information, you'll need to do some additional investigating as to how your devices are networked together. Typically instruments are connected to the SeaTalk NG / NMEA 2000 backbone. The Axiom chartplotter is also connected to this network. Devices like a wind sensor, speed sensor, GPS antenna, and autopilot components are also normally connected to it too. I have seen instances where all of the instruments are networked to each other, but for reasons unknown the Axiom chartplotter is not connected to the network. On your Axiom display look for its NMEA 2000 connection. On Axiom 7, 9 or 12 models, this connection is the smaller wire that is part of the power cable bundle. On Axiom Pro and Axiom XL models, the NMEA2000 port is on the back of the screen, typically on the bottom left. There should be a cable connected there that runs to the network backbone where the depth instrument and other devices are connected too. Feel free to open a ticket with our support team and if you can, attach a few photos of the devices you have onboard, the cabling behnd-the-scenes, and also a photo of that "Network" settings menu on your Axiom as that will show us the full inventory of what Axiom can see on the network. You can open a ticket and upload photos at www.raymarine.com/support.

You really seem to know your product. Very nice. I was wondering if there is a way to change the data for example fuel level. Either a round gauge with the needle in the middle, or a bar that is half way up (or sideways), or displays text "1/2", "50%", or "50 gal" (assuming 100 gal tank) TYIA
@Raymarine
@Raymarine 7 ай бұрын
At the moment the options for displaying data in Axiom's Dashboard application are somewhat limited. For fuel level, for example, the displays are limited to a numerical output, rather than a virtual dial or gauge. I think you'll see some improvements to this coming in future software updates.

I started using routes with autopilot. I noticed i have lost all the previous tracks history. How do i turn them back on.
@Raymarine
@Raymarine 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Yudi. Your tracks are saved in the track library. You can access it from either the Home screen, or through the Chart app. You see a bit more detail entering from the Chart app. Open the Chart App and touch Menu...Waypoints/Routes/Tracks....and then Tracks. All previously recorded tracks are listed along with the number of track points in each one, the length of the track, and its visibility status. The preview window will show you the overall track recording on a snipped of the navigation chart. The visibility status (Show/Hide) allows you to hide tracks that are not being used so they don't clutter thing up on the chart display. Yours may be switched off. Touch on any track in the library and the popup menu that appears will give you some options, including the option to Show or Hide the track. The icon in the Show/Hide column will change between an eyeball (track is visible) and an eyeball with a slash through it (track is not visible.)

Hey Jim I posed this question in one of your other webinars but thinking it may not be possible at this point, maybe you can confirm . So I am trying to pull data in particular gallons remaining to any given app or screen. The only place I am able to see that data is in my home screen under my fuel and trip menu. So going back to say my chart app and bringing up edit data menu, there's nothing referencing gallons remaining. I have looked in engine data menu which gives me fuel flow but not what I am looking for, also looked in distance data and just shows trip logs. I am non command link gauges and I have run data cable from engine to axiom and works as it should. Maybe that could be something you guys can add in future. Thanks Jeff
@Raymarine
@Raymarine 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff. There is a data item for Estimated Fuel Remaining that you can add to any of the data locations I mentioned in the video. In your data library there should be a category called Fuel, and you will see it listed in there. If you are not seeing the Fuel category in the data library, double-check that your Axiom software is up-to-date. Hopefully that will get you what you are looking for.

How can I get a mouse to work with my Axiom 16? It would be much eaiser setting up layouts.
@Raymarine
@Raymarine 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Al. You can use a Bluetooth mouse or mouse/keyboard combo with any Axiom. The Bluetooth drivers for these devices are pretty much universal so you can get one locally at an office or computer shop, electronics shop, or online. Touch the clock on Axiom's homescreen and in the menu that pops up you'll see Bluetooth Settings. Touch it to enter the Bluetooth device manger. There is a small toggle switch on the top bar that turns on Axiom's Bluetooth radio, if its not already turned on. The Bluetooth devices it detects will be listed in the window below. Touch the pairing button on your mouse, and then touch it on Axiom when it appears on screen. You can do the same for your keyboard if you have one. Some keyboards will require you to type in a code (displayed on Axiom) to confirm its the correct keyboard. Once your are connected you can use the mouse just as you would your finger. The scroll wheel can be used to zoom the chart, rotate through menus, scroll lists, etc. Use the mouse button to select things. Long-press to popup menus and controls.

Hello Jane. You are not seeing the LAYERS tab because your chartplotter's display mode is set to Simple display mode. The presents a very clear chart with very few extra layers. Open your chartplotter app, touch Menu....and you will see several options for its display mode including Simple, Detailed, Fishing, Anchor and maybe a few others. Please select Detailed mode. This gives you access to the full selection of options. You'll notice much more information on your charts as well. Now you can go to Menu...Settings...Layers...and you will see a toggle switch to turn the AIS layer on or off. You can also go to Menu....Targets....and you will see additional AIS options including the target list, AIS-related settings, and some collision avoidance tools as well.

How do u keep Ship centered on display...when we input a waypoint and start to follow, the ship icon will start to move down the screen and we have to touch screen and swipe down to keep ship icon centered.
@Raymarine
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
When you pan the chart it breaks the mode that keeps the boat locked in the center. Notice towards the top left when you pan the screen, a button icon appears of a boat. When you touch it, that activates the "Find Ship" mode. That brings the icon back to center and if you don't touch anything, it remains there and the map scrolls. Axiom also has an automatic find ship mode you can enable by going to Menu...Settings...Advanced...Auto Find Ship. If you pan the chart (breaking find ship mode) and then don't touch anything for 10 seconds, it automatically recenters for you.

Touch the clock on Axiom's homescreen (upper right corner) and then touch the option for "Time offset from UTC." You can subtract 1 hour from whatever offset number is displayed to make the adjustment for Daylight Savings Time. For example if your display reports -5.0 now, make it -4.0 for the duration of DST. When the clocks change again in the autumn, you'll add 1 hour back to the setting.

Hello I have raymarine axiom 9 can I connect RAYMARINE E52010?
@Raymarine
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
E52010 is our 18-inch, 2 kW analog radar scanner. Unfortunately that model will not work with any Axiom-series displays. That particular radar is compatible with our C-Series Classic (C70, C80, C120) and E-Series Classic (E80 and E120) displays. It plugs directly into those screens through a dedicated multi-pin radar connector. Axiom displays require a radar with a digital connection. These radars can connect to one of Axiom's RayNet Ethernet network ports directly, or through a network switch. Models compatible with Axiom include the RD418D, RD414D, RD418HD, RD424HD, Quantum or Quantum 2 radomes.

@Raymarine
@Raymarine 3 жыл бұрын
How many would you like to see? Here is another thought. Once you add more than 4 of them, there are some advantages to instead creating a side-by-side split screen. Make one side the app you want to see (chart, fishfinder, radar, etc.) Make the opposite panel the Dashboard app. You can then create a new dashboard page to sit there with the apps you want. You can use the split ratio adjustment to control how much of the screen belongs to your app, and how much to the dashboard. Shoot me an email to james.mcgowan@Raymarine.com. I created one here and made a screen-shot. I'll send it back so you can see. I'll also try to make a video showing how I did it.

I used the split ratio to adjust the border so I have mostly chart, and less data.

Edit any cell or add a floater as shown in the video. The clock is located in the data menu under the "Time" category and it is simply called "Time."
