Raynor and Kerrigan Escape from Research Facility (Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm)

Nova Terra led a Terran Dominion force against the research facility. Battlecruisers attacked and several drop pods loaded with marines and ghosts invaded, one squad, "Bravo Team", landing very close to Kerrigan's position. Raynor arrived at the lab, but his fire was unable to dissuade Bravo from their goal. The squad cornered Kerrigan in her lab, but she destroyed the lab and all of her attackers with a psionic blast.
Afterward Kerrigan said the killing wouldn't stop until Arcturus Mengsk was dead. Raynor implores her to "get it together" and focus on escaping first. As if to emphasize Raynor's point, Nova realizes that Bravo has ceased communications. Deducing correctly that Kerrigan had wiped them out, Nova dispatches the entire Dominion invasion force to that section of the facility to wipe the former out. Raynor hands Kerrigan a rifle one of the ghosts had dropped, and the two share a kiss before moving out.
Kerrigan and Raynor fight their way past Dominion forces. During the attack zerg be studied in the lab escaped their pens and attacked the Dominion and Umojans indiscriminately. After fighting their way out of the lab, Kerrigan and Raynor take the tram to the shuttle bay to Raynor's special ops dropship. Valerian Mengsk had already escaped to board the Hyperion, but the shuttle bay was now occupied by a large Dominion mech, the Archangel. The Archangel destroys the shuttle bay bridge, forcing Raynor to seek an alternate route while Kerrigan secures the area. Valerian promises Kerrigan to rescue Raynor, and she takes the dropship to the Hyperion. However, the Hyperion is under attack by the Dominion fleet, and Raynor is confronted by Nova.
Kerrigan arrives on the Hyperion to find Matt Horner and Valerian failed to rescue Jim, and are preparing to jump out of the sector, their forces heavily outmatched. Kerrigan returns to the player in the special ops dropship to find Raynor as the Hyperion and her allied ships warp away.

This is the only moment/mission in the entire Starcraft 2 trilogy where Kerrigan is somewhat relaxed and showing her more fun side. And then when Jim is gone, she is serious again. Which intensifies even more when she becomes the Queen of blades again. Kinda wish there was at least another mission with her and Jim. Seeing them together gives off that Starcraft 1 vibe.

RTS games always have mismatches in unit sizes. Because if everything was resized to how it should be there would be extremely tiny units and extremely large ones that could eat up your entire screen.

This scene was soooooo good. The only thing I wish was for there to be more in-game development between Kerrigan and Raynor. Sarah and Jim didn't really get to know each other in the games. They met, Kerrigan read Raynor thinking about dirty thoughts, went a few missions together, then all of a sudden she gets left behind and they're "a thing" and Jim is willing to go against the entire world, Protoss, Terran, and Zerg just to get to her. A lot of characters don't really get much backstory in-game either :/ Why is Mengsk so evil? Why did he overthrow the Confederacy only to rule it with another iron fist? As the main antagonist he gets very little backstory in-game other than "the bad guy who betrayed the good guys."

@@dweebie I think my problem with that is that there's no inherent motivation. In a storytelling perspective, you can make even villains relatable. Thanos was a good villain because his goal was somewhat justified, he saw his planet's doom due to overpopulation and wanted to prevent that from happening. He attempted his "villainry" on another planet before attempting to do it to the whole universe and it proved to have worked. That's why he's doing what he is. If you have a villain who's "bad because he's bad," or "because he's just egotistic" is pretty lazy writing. What they COULD have done is showed the life he suffered growing up in the old ruling system, how it doesn't work, and that's why he wants to do it his own way. There's a lot you could do to shape a "main villain" of a series.

His motivations is elaborated upon in the books. Mengsk brother, who was Korhal's senator, saw that the Confederacy for the corrupt regime it was and advocated for Korhal to become independent. The Confederacy in turn assasinated him and his family. This caused Mengsk to vow revenge and led him to destroy the Confederacy. Also, the assasin was Kerrigan which is why he hates her so much and left her on Tarsonis.

Maybe her being back in human form weakened her abilities. Well maybe not weakened since she can blow shit up, lift and crush powerbats and marauders with her powers, more like limited. She can lift him up but she'll probably burn out a lot of energy. Or like the other guy said they could get shot in the middle of doing that and she might drop Jim.

I know its late to reply about your comment. But when Kerrigan about to choke valerian she need total focus to maintain her psionic power but when distracted she loses the focus of her psionic power maybe thats why she didnt want to lift Jim because she might lose focus in the heat of battle.

0:14 id like to know how many ships there are. we can see three, but unless there are some above, or behind those ships, those gun crews are leading way to much. like they have their sensitivity on the highest setting trying to aim at the slow moving battle cruisers.
