I looked at the images on other displays and I can confirm that the DCR-250 has a slight green colour cast, so the NiSi49mm definitely comes out on top in terms of image quality. 😉🦋🪲🐛

Thanks for this Peter, it's only taken me 3 attempts to watch it all the way through. As I have already got a raynox dcr 250 (which I was given foc) you've just saved me some money! Great examples and a great comparison video.
@peterviragphoto Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, appreciate it! Yes, if you already have a DCR-250 then it would be kind of superfluous. The NiSi is better optically and the MR is only a little higher. Cheers:)

Hi Peter. I enjoyed the video. One thing you didn't cover was the increase in magnification you get with each of these lenses. I have a Nikon Z6 and a Laowa 90mm 2X macro. Online calculators suggest the Raynox DCR-250 on the Laowa 90mm would give me 4.2X macro. However in another online video it was measured as 2.7X. Since I already have 2X with the Laowa lens, 2.7X isn't worth the expenditure. I'd probably just buy the Laowa 25mm 2.5X-5X macro in that case. What would be interesting to me is if you had set the Laowa 90mm to 2X and moved a ruler to the focal point, note the mm across the frame (it should be 18mm for 2X), and then add the Raynox and see what the difference is.

Thanks Gordon, much appreciated! I love the Laowa 90mm with the Nisi 49mm but I think you are right the 25mm would provide you with more magnification. I love that lens too, just wish they had an RF mount version ( maybe they do already lol) . Thanks again for the feedback! Have a good one

@@peterviragphoto I just checked. An RF mount is available for the Laowa 25mm 5X macro.

Great comparison Peter. It’s hard to pick one over the other as you said. Both are so close, I think they’re both really good. Thanks for sharing the comparison mate 👍🙏

Thanks mate, they are pretty close indeed but the NiSi is slightly better for sure. Cheers

Peter!!! I LOVE your Playdoh holder!💖 Each of the shots are really sharp and it would be hard to pic out the best. Each has some amazing qualities. Seeing this is making me want to go out and shoot some macro...... if I can find my Raynox!! Thank you for this fantastic comparison. 🙏🤗

@@peterviragphoto I am happy to say, I have been shooting dragonflies with my 70-200 and my 100-400 - it has been awesome. I did find my Raynox and may take it out tomorrow morning.... or later today. I have to enjoy the heat while it is here!! 🤗

Great review Peter. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the topic and watched your review on NiSi before, so it was very interesting to see the comparison of those two items. I use 90 mm Tamron macro lens, but never used neither one of those, so it helps to know what are the pluses and some minuses on each. Great job my friend. Have a wonderful weekend.

Very cool. I never used these as people said if you have an expensive lens the extra glass will degrade the images. Seeing the images you produce, doesn't seem to be any degradation. Thanks for sharing
@peterviragphoto Жыл бұрын
There is usually a slight degradation on an optically excellent lens but pretty easy to rectify in post in most cases. Have a good one buddy!

Hello Peter, I am a videographer and want a close-up adapter for my Canon 85mm 77mm for close up eye shots. What can you advice?
@peterviragphoto24 күн бұрын
Hey there. If you use a close up lens like the NiSi 49mm for example, just make sure you have an adapter ring that would make it compatible. You also need to do a bit of research and find out if there is any vignetting for the particular lenses you intend to use the close up lens with. In terms of image quality I wouldn’t worry as I have used both the dcr 250 and close up lenses from NiSi for video work and they were exceptional. Cheers

Hi Peter, thank you for sharing your wisdom :) I have a question for you since I'm torn about what to buy. My current setup is R5+EF100 Macro. Since you previously used a similar setup, would you recommend that I try the DCR250+NiSi58 stack, or should the NiSi 49mm be a better option alone?
@peterviragphoto9 ай бұрын
Hi Tina. If I were you I’d just go with the NiSi 49mm. I think you’d be happy with the results of that combo👍 nisifilters.com.au/product/nisi-close-up-lens-kit-nc-49mm-with-62-and-67mm-adaptors/ref/peterviragphoto/ Thanks for your comment. Good luck & have fun!😉

With the original photos, how much difference is there in a cropped image vs with magnifier
@peterviragphotoАй бұрын
The image quality is much better when you shoot with extra magnification and the 49mm from NiSi is what I’ve been using these days. I think it is an excellent option at that price-point . Cheers

Hey mate. I’d definitely go wih the Nisi49mm if I were you: nisifilters.com.au/product/nisi-close-up-lens-kit-nc-49mm-with-62-and-67mm-adaptors/ref/peterviragphoto/ It has higher magnification, more compact and suits the 100mm macro better . Cheers
