Every time I visit Pyro I always head to the middle of nowhere. Anywhere around POI’s is going to be where trouble is.
@CitizenScott14 сағат бұрын
2:20 This is totally backwards. NEVER open your hangar doors until you are prepared. Period. I'm talking destination set, all systems go, and area scanned by cycling through all available targets. Anything less and you're asking for it.
@RaysGuide14 сағат бұрын
I'm not sure that really works well with instanced hangars since you don't know which hangar door you will be connected to until you ask for it to be opened. Definitely you should have your trip planned before opening the door.
@CitizenScott14 сағат бұрын
Oh yeah, instanced hangars exist. lol Still you should be scanning the area as soon as the doors start to open.
@JS-wt8vf14 сағат бұрын
It is also good to quantum to a random point and drop out in the middle of nowhere and then quantum to your destination. This is called dog-legging and it makes you unpredictable. Also, set your quantum destination before you open the hangar so you are not left vulnerable hanging around outside and can leg it the moment you clear the hangar.

Really cannot stress enough the value of Keeping Alert. As someone who practiced the more advanced version of this in EVE while exploring wormholes, I can tell you how easy it is to “fall asleep at the wheel” (so to speak) when things have been quiet for a long time. I have certainly been venturing more and more to outposts with expendable equipment and ships but for the most part i have been out in the middle of nowhere trying to chance upon some wrecks that don’t have a POI and thus will likely have less chance of someone arriving mid salvage
@RaysGuide15 сағат бұрын
I once, when just prospecting came across an intact Carrack, door open, and a wrecked Vanguard just sitting out there. Nobody else around. That would have been quite a find for a salvager.

I did a lot of mining in Pyro and had most of my ore refined at Stantion Gateway. My problem was a bug that prevented me from quantum jumping to ArcCorp or MicroTech once I exited the Jump point from Pyro to Stanton. I lost so much to those bugs that I had to reset my character. I am sure those bugs are gone now. Someone was hanging around CIG monitoring and fixing servers all the way up to Christmas Eve
@MultiFishslayer12 сағат бұрын
Stanton gateway refines ore?
@braunsch49014 сағат бұрын
Definitely many bugs still. Merc missions don't progress reputation... server randomly boots me. Quantum jumped straight into planet, bounty missions don't complete after killing enemy... disappointed it's still so unplayable
@stormwolf325511 сағат бұрын
Mining in the middle of nowhere has always been my preferred strategy - usually deep in the Aaron Halo. The risky part, as you pointed out, is that last mile back to the refinery where often you find some low-life ganker just looking for an easy target (and with a full hold of quantanium ore blinking away there's generally not a lot of time to mess around).
@alandab13 сағат бұрын

I had been thinking everything you have been thinking. Heading to the middle of nowhere, somewhere away from usual waypoints, is what I had been considering doing. It's good to know I had a decent idea.
@marcjensen908013 сағат бұрын
Mining has always been best in the middle of nowhere, but then I dial that up a notch by approaching it like those insane people who head out on the water in small boats to go fishing at four in the morning. Star Citizen taught me - as I follow the sun around lunar surfaces while inspecting rocks - that those people aren't actually there to catch fish. No, they're doing it to have a meditative experience as they watch the sunrise (and might catch lunch on the side). My mining profits might be mediocre, but I got what I came for with the outing and _nobody bothers me._ 🤩
@Aero_Yuki13 сағат бұрын
Heading to the middle of nowhere has generally been good advice for mining in Stanton as well, and it's one of the reasons I spent so much time in the Aaron Halo - just so people couldn't find me. Once scanning gameplay improves (including long-range scanning), staying off-grid might become a bit more difficult. Perhaps going mining with an escort might become commonplace at that point.

Basically you don't go to named POI's cause you will get blown away. You don't even have to have anything on you to be a victim. They don't bother to scan you first to see if you are a target worth perusing, cause just being a warm body is enough for them. I tried several times to just go and explore, basic suit, empty ship. Show up somewhere and always at least 3 ships waiting, no matter how remote a place. Named location, blown out of the sky. Even if you drop to the ground without engaging them, to try and abandon ship and explore on foot, dead before you can get out. Do not go to Pyro unless you are fully crewed and wanting PK content.
@kentyannayon374114 сағат бұрын
I've found not sticking around and not taking my time with anything makes it pretty difficult for anyone to make the decision to attack. Helps flying around in medium-heavy fighters known to have good firepower while bounty hunting. Mining is a little different, but I got frustrated with how long it took to find good rocks, so my low risk money printing comes from salvage these days. Though I suspect salvage is kinda high risk in pyro because where you find panels and lost ships is where most combat missions spawn, and they seem to be relatively small areas compared to the ring around Yela. I tend to fly gear up all the way to the hangar though, you drift as much as you would killing throttle when you put gear down, so it's always faster to be right on top of the hangar before gear go down.

I like doing the fps missions but right now cig has decided to clump them all in a tiny areas for each plantet. I take the eclipse and fly in shields down and guns off, i have often reach my destination outposts st Chawlas Beach without getting detected. Best part is if someone is really uppity im not opposed to dumb firing a torp at them after i get away - with the correct systems turned off your detection can drop to about 750m which allows for easy dumb fire torps, which pdcs ignore. I have knocked engine blocks ( 3 or 4 ) off a polaris when aimed right, all it takes is 1 torp to cause hundreds of thousands of credits as well as stability to fall off a cap ship.

There's a bug right now (at least I hope it's just a bug) where salvage missions are marked as private property. Even to you. The problem with that is you can't use the damn tractor beam until you move out of the area. No grabbing guns, missiles or cargo. I did manage to grab 1 scu of cargo by backing into it and letting it fall to the grid. Annoying. That and CM isn't worth much anymore.

Stay away from popular missions spots like Shepherd's Rest. Players are camping those areas to kill other players. Not piracy, they're not wanting anything. Just the pleasure of making you dead. They're also using stealth, so if you see 6 missiles coming at you from nowhere, some missile slinging ape is using a Firebird and then reclaiming his ship every time he runs empty. Lastly, use a stealth ship of your own. Like a Firebird, Hornet Ghost or similar. I don't even get seen most of the time with those ships.
