I really like this headset but one thing I'm worried about is the passive noise cancelling. I live in a household with multiple people and I get frequently called throughout the day and I have to be the one who hears doorbells and etc. Do you think these would block out these sounds too much? I used to have (and still have but not using it) the Corsair Void Wired, and I really loved it's pnc (or lack of it) since it's perfect for the surroundings I am in. I recently decided to get the Sony WH1000XM4 and whilst they are stellar sounding, the pnc is way too much on these, and so I plan to buy another headphone/headset that would be one where I'd switch around depending on the situation. Maybe this can give you context of what I would prefer with headphones/headsets regarding pnc.

These are very effective at noise isolation, but I can still hear the doorbell as long as my volume isn't too high and I live on the opposite side of the house. Though hearing voices are harder on this headset when people are yelling, but if you have a mic with sidetones then you should be fine.

@@vaxtrixradicalbro4295 sorry for confusing you. It just good at isolating your ears from maybe things like sounds and knocking them some decibels down. You can still hear the doorbell as long as you lower the volume of the audio you are listening to and voices are still present but just quieter.

This is by far the most thorough review I have seen on these headsets! A missed opportunity was to give a recommendation for a budget headset for distance learning. We bought the V2 X after seeing the review from Hardware Canucks and randomfrankp, and my daughter’s classmates say her voice sounds strong, clear, and natural. But most importantly, she says they are comfortable to wear all day for school.

Hey BadSeed, I really trust your judgement. So I'm looking to drop my Razer Nari Essential because although it has the comfort of being wireless, I rather have a wired headset with better sound. I was looking very closely to those Fnatic React, but now with this review, I want to ask you would you pick these Blacksharks over the React? I bought the V2 a week ago. I had already downloaded the THX synapse trial a month or so earlier and tried it with my SteelSeries Arctis 5 and absolutely hated any sound I was able to produce with the THX Digital Surround Sound. The implementation in the Blackshark v2 is totally different. I actually kinda chuckled and said "holy shit" when I heard how good Modern Warfare sounded to me with the Auto THX preset in Synapse selected. No lie, the comfort is top notch too. No "new headset placebo" feeling, these are extremely comfortable. The mic is okay at best, though. When my wife joined a Discord call with me, she said "Your voice sounds muddy as fuck". That was with default settings selected. I turned Mic volume up to 100 in Synapse and she said "Okay, that's much better, but the mic definitely lacks bass compared to your last headset" so take that for what it's worth. All in all, I recommend them with a 9 out of 10 personal rating.

Yeah, 100% on both. I’m openly biased about sim surround and I had to eat crow on this one. I think the mic aggravates me bc the hardware seems good (acceptable for what it is) and all the unnecessary Synapse processing seems to do way more harm than good.

My man Bryan P. 1:41 in and I liked the video. I rarely "like" tech videos. But that first 2min reminded me of why I sub. Your Ethos and considerable integrity should be a model for all reviewers and critics. Gaming branded gear, let alone tech in general, is designed to drive excitement. I still rock my MH752 on trips as a great balanced music headphone. Take the mic off and no one can tell it's a gaming headphone. It's cheaper too, so I would definitely still pick it up over the Razer Blackshark.

I'm going to refund Blackshark V2, it's drivers are good but microphone is shit and I don't have a way to connect directly to MSI X470 Gaming plus motherboard because it's a combo jack. Also you have mentioned that synapse and audio is good for games but it's very bad for microphone. So you have to pick one or another. Blackshark V2 gave me a lot of issues in the discord. In the synpase sidetone thing, I hear myself quite good but in the discord my friends says I sound like talking from police radio. Spend literally 6 hours into EQ and all other settings both in Synpase, windows and discord; it improved a bit but did not change the police radio issue. Then I plugged my old headset (Turtle Beach Z60 - which was good in everyway but it's headbeam is broken; drivers are still working) to Razer's usb card, the radio voice was the same. Then I plugged Razer's microphone to my broken headset and connected to PC with Turtle Beach's usb sound card and voice was clear. This is proved the microphone wasn't bad but the Razer's sound card was killing the microphone voice. I tried to plug Blackshark V2 to Turtle Beach usb sound card but it doesn't fit because of Razer's L shaped jack. Also when I tried to listen myself from discord, my sound was stuttering, cutting voice here and there but my friends doesn't hear my voice stuttering; they just hear me fine but the problem is I sound like "police radio" to them; but not to myself. In discord, I tried every settings and EQ but discord couldn't make me clearly hear my own voice; it was weird, I have no explanation why does that. Then the worst part, If I'm in game or opening some apps like a browser, opening some tabs etc. both my voice and my friend's voice starts stuttering. Even if Blackshark V2 is discord certificated, there is absolutely a problem between Blackshark V2 sound card and discord. If you are not using discord and voice chat a lot, or if you don't care how shit you sound to your friends, it's fantastic headphone and comfortable a lot. But I'm not going to buy a condenser microphone to overcome this issue because then what's the point of using Blackshark V2? I could go for studio headphones with higher sound quaility and buy a cheap condenser which would sound better than Razer's sound card.

It's surprising how bad the USB Sound Card that comes with the Blackshark V2 is, especially after using a Kraken Tournament Edition. The USB Audio Controller, the sound card that comes with the Kraken Tournament Edition is actually really good, much better mic sound (and way better sidetone more importantly). Why Razer doesn't sell the Audio Controller as a standalone or at least include it with the Blackshark, however is a mystery.

I'm going to buy a new headset and I'm kinda wondering which one should I buy. First of all, I'm going to sleep with this headset (strange, lol), I'll be gaming and listening to music. I've read that the Cooler Master MH752 are really poorly constructed and that they break after ~ 6 months of use. So in that case, how long have you been using them, and are they durable enough to hold my head? I'm also wondering if the Blackshark v2 x are better (still considering the price point) than the Blackshark v2s. Worth to mention, that I didn't like the THX Spatial Audio (It just sounds like I'm in a barrel or something). The mic quality is not that different (in my opinion) and I don't care about it (saving 40$). I'm probably going to buy the Blackshark v2 X.

I have buddies who work from home and need headsets that sound good for regular content, ie: not a gaming sound, but also headsets that sound full and immersive in game. This headset has been my new recommendation (not budget, just recommendation) for a gaming headset, and your video, as always, is a beautiful essay why, narrated by a beautiful, bearded, smooth balled assassin with golden pipes. I’m going to stop going into my whole lecture nonsense about why this and why not that, and I’m just going to forward this joint to my buddies and tell them to subscribe. I own the Cougar Phontum S (i bought them in 2018 for 70USD, final price included shipping) and i got the Blackshark V2 X one week ago for 65Euros (final price included shipping). Literally they feel cheap, nothing special with the sound, my phontum S headset overal sounds better, the bass is overexposed u need to tune it with EQ, and the mic is a midrage mic for that kind of money. So nothing special. Dont get me wrong. I do not mean that it is for the trash, but overal not worth the price. If u can find it at 30-35max it is a good deal. For 45+shipping its a no

I would get the BlackShark V2 and just not plug in the usb and use the splitter. I think that would sound much better. I would probably use windows sonic for surrond sound anyways. I already have an EQ and windows sonic enabled anyways

My 2¢ regarding "Microphones" on gauging "Gaming Headsets" .. nobody cares, it's low on the totem pole. If you're concerned about recording your voice for streaming or production of any kind then no one in the right mind cares about the built-in mics .. period. At best it's a footnote.

I just received a brand new Razor Blackshark V2, and the volume on the PS4 is pathetically low! I have tried it with both the 3.5mm and the USB inputs. The headphone volume on the PS4 is at max volume and the volume knob on the ear is turned all the way up. Even with everything at max level, it's still not high enough. I'm not hard of hearing, and I don't listen to everything at super high levels. Hell, even my five year old no-name stereo headphones sound louder than these do on my PS4. Is this a bad set of headphones? Is this a bug? Is this the PS4 problem with low volume on some headphones. Did you have this problem?

Does it handle the THX Surround Sound and if you ditch the soundcard, you ditch the THX surround? I don't really get the purpose of the soundcard. I recently purchased a blackshark v2 and the mic quality with the soundcard concerns me a bit so I'm wondering if ditching the soundcard has any other effects.
