Utterly mindblowing that the UK/Europe versions receive a keyboard without secondary functions properly lit. Will definitely be eagerly awaiting further videos on this, especially about undervolting, battery life, speakers, and the 4090 version with that 1000 nits miniLED display. Can you reach out to Razer about if using the overclocking feature voids the warranty? I noticed it mentioned a risk of causing damage to the device, but curiously didn’t explicitly say that use voids the warranty. Definitely important information to know. Also, could you check if you can disable individual cores on the CPU, either in Bios or wherever? There were a few scenarios where last years 12900hk beat out the 12900hx, and that’s all the difference between the two. Would be nice to have be able to have your cake and eat it too, being able to turn the extra cores off when it’s a benefit, and turn them back on for multithreaded loads like Blender or 7Zip.

I am on the fence about buying a Blade 18 or an ASUS Rog Scar 18. I usually use a computer for at least 4-5 years and while I am ok shelling out more for it, I need it to be reliable for a long time. Thank you mate. Is the EGPU for an older laptop you have? I have spent a lot of time playing with EGPUs over the years and you loose a lot of performance over the thunderbolt bus. I find it fine for causal gaming but I wouldn't advise it for competitive gaming due to the inability to get constant high FPS regardless of the GPU you use.

@@MashITTech Hello thank you for your feedback. I have an Alienxare m17 r4 with an rtx 3080 16g at 150w and 32gb of ram. And an older 10th Gen Intel I7 processor. It is true that the graphics card is very powerful (score 13400 on 3d mark time spy) but the processor picks up. I don't know where the problem comes from but in video games the performances are not incredible; take the example of a simple game like league of legend, in 1080p it runs at 130 fps on average with a use of 10 to 20% of the graphics card, and impossible to use all the power of the graphics card to have better FPS, yet my screen is at 360 hertz, and League of Legends settings are unlimited FPS. And this problem is recurring for many games. Maybe the problem comes from the optimization of the Nvidia settings, but I saw several explanation videos and normally I configured everything well.

@@MashITTech I was going to pre-order the Blade 16 or pick it up at microcenter but man I can't do the black color, the fingerprints would drive me crazy! I was hoping for a Studio Refresh with the RTX 6000 Ada GPU but that probably won't happen either. I also wish they still offered the glass panel (4K OLED), I just can't stand the plastic bezels but that's something I'm going to have to get used to. I'm just glad they finally increased the thickness, only thing holding back the Blade Series was the limited TDP+TGP, this time we get the best of both worlds. Speaking of which, the Dual Mini-LED panel is insane. 4K@120Hz with 1000 brightness AND 1080P@240Hz! If it has strobing, this could easily replace my desktop. Performance wise the 4090 should absolutely decimate the 3080TI Desktop I have currently. BTW, the video quality on your vid is absolutely amazing. I can't get over how detailed it is. Hi Dave, I just don't get why they punish EU Razer users with lack of secondary lighting. Even in AU we get it. It's definitely improved but it's still underperforming on CPU side vs other brands, by about 15 to 20% in Cinebench R23 as they are getting 31 and even over 32K in an Asus run. However, the Razer seems to be the only one that in AU at least, has a 500 nit HDR screen, secondary key lighting, Windows Hello cam or fingerprint sensor, and advanced optimus/G-sync. Those four things are non negotiable for me and believe it or not it's a nightmare to find this year. Asus misses out on secondary lighting on Strix range in all markets or is otherwise decent, Alienware has only 300 nit screens this year (ridiculous) or is otherwise decent, MSI is the ONLY brand not offering advanced optimus and g-sync this year (whereas it used to be common, now they have all come to the table and offered it, even Aorus), so that's a HARD pass. Their screen offer adaptive sync but you need to go through the Intel driver, it only works with direct X games and all they have to do is pay the bloody license fee to Nvidia to unlock the G-Sync front end for it (G-Sync laptop uses Vesa VRR spec but is way better as it works in windowed mode and with all Graphics API and also works in direct gpu mode). Acer Helios is an option but only goes to a 4080 and I REALLY want the 4090 as it has been proven to be neck and neck with a desktop 3090ti, but even better because of DLSS3 and frame generation. A 3090 desktop in a laptop is INSANE, I don't care what anyone says and all these complaints it's not as powerful as desktop 4090. Who cares? Anyway you of all people well know how I feel about Razer as a brand, I hate their service more than any other, but they really might be the only option this year (the 18 inch). If not I will stick with my 2021 Legion 7 for another year. By the way, Lenovo have removed windows hello in this year's Legion 7 and have gone from glass touch pad to plastic, ,as well as removed all but the front RGB strip. They have heavily cut costs everywhere so they are out of the running too. The Tongfeng based brands are improving this year, adding g-sync but only 300 nit panels also, so they are out. I am not going to go from a 2021 laptop and gaming in HDR and G-Sync and then go backwards to not using those features.

Loved the video! Two things that saddens me about this laptop, they've made it a lot thicker and heavier. Yes you get better performance out of it because of it, but their previous models have been in a class of their own. Somewhere perfect between a full fledged gaming laptop and dell XPS 15-17/Lenovo Thinkpad x1 extreme, now its a lot closer to just being a gaming laptop. the other thing is that they have made it thicker but haven't put in a ethernet port... before i could understand, but now when it is as thick as a non-advanced blade 15 theres no excuse. A 2,5 or 10gbe would have been amazing, especially for a content creator who might have all their data on a NAS.

Thank you mate, that is appreciated 👍 and sorry to hear about your 14, I have heard a few similar horror stories lately and I am worried about my 2021 14 which is so far still going strong (and I have spent the last month using it hooked up to my monitor for all my home gaming as I needed my other blades in the office for videos

Razer Customer service and warranty after sales is non existent if the £3500 lappy fails you'll be months getting it sorted - been there never again at least with Alienware if it goes wrong it gets fixed at my house within a few days. great looking device otherwise just piss poor customer service.

That is very true Jim, I do normally buy from Amazon for this very reason but this is the first time I have ordered direct from Amazon so I guess I have to pray I get no issues with the machine!

They should stop calling these "blades" because they are now thick as F. I know that they had thermal issues on 2022, but this thickness is horrible, it went from classy looking never aging industrial look, to a 2000's looking laptop. I will check Asus Rog alternatives this year.

I didn't like the whole "thank you for selling your kidney" thing, like if you can not afford a device like this, do not buy it, simple and easy. At least be professional about it.
