Thank you, so much! The section on the d-pad is exactly what I was waiting to hear. I know people scoff at the price and so do I, but given that none of these telescopic controllers have a good d-pad, I will pay $150 for this controller. I can't stress how desperate I am to find a controller with a good d-pad. Serviceable d-pads get you pass level 1 or 2 with retro games. After that, you're fighting the game and the controller. Great review!
@GameTechTalk
@GameTechTalk 7 ай бұрын
You're in for a treat then. There is a bit of an adjustment curve for fighting games but for retro in general? Oh wow. I could game on that d-pad for HOURS without the shadow of a concern or discomfort. If/when you do get it, let me know your impressions, always nice to hear I'm not being crazy here! Cheers :)

@@STR82DVD I've been scouring their discord and the main abxylute account hinted that they are going for very aggressive pricing. If I had to guess and reading through the lines, I'd expect 0-10$ more than Galileo G8 sale price (that is with the 40% off). So 80-90USD would be my educated guess.

The fact that they keep putting the extra buttons next to the triggers baffles me. It defeats the purpose of them when they interfere with any of the other standard buttons and triggers. They should just do back paddles, the only layout that makes sense for extra inputs
@GameTechTalk
@GameTechTalk 6 ай бұрын
I also have a preference for back paddles but I think you highlight a "conflict" I had never put into words myself. To paraphrase, what you are saying is that trigger fingers should never have to leave them and that extra buttons are designed to assist with that. You do raise a good point that this hinders this very concept.
@terribletimes902
@terribletimes902 6 ай бұрын
@@GameTechTalk Exactly, what makes back paddles so useful is that they use your middle fingers, which otherwise go unused. That makes them truly extra inputs cause they will never interfere with your other fingers. In this case, you either have to take your fingers off the trigger, or you’ll have to press both the M1/M2 button and the trigger next to it

Just as heads-up. This is a premium accessory, at a $150 price point. It does not work for the iPhone 15 Pro Max if you're using a Mous Limitless 5.0 phone case (another premium accessory, at a $70 price point). For anyone assuming their Mous case will just *work*, it won't.

My only problem with this one is the Bluetooth connectivity interferes with your actual cell phone signal to an iPhones will tell you that they’ll tell you there will be signal interference. You may not get the best performance out of it, which is true. I get a lot of lag here and there if I’m playing on Wi-Fi or cell phone because the signals interfere With each other so you’re gonna have a little more latency sometimes you’re actually lose connection between the Bluetooth in your phone just enough to kick you out of a game if your cloud gaming so a direct USBC connection is preferred
@GameTechTalk
@GameTechTalk 5 ай бұрын
Interesting, I hadn't experienced that, I wonder if maybe a firmware update introduced this issue? I'll test later on with my iPhone and report back to you. It definitely does not have bluetooth, however, it's not impossible that it interferes with signal nonetheless. Quite frankly, if it does, I'd feel inclined to suggest there may be an electrical anomaly of some kind because if not for that, I don't understand how radio signal could be affected. I'll tune back in shortly.
@GameTechTalk
@GameTechTalk 5 ай бұрын
I finished testing, it was done on an iPhone 15 Pro Max on iOS 17.5.1 . The Kishi Ultra is on firmware 1.0 and it didn't prompt me for an update. I had zero issues on my end, that is while plugged in to wi-fi 5Ghz from my home signal and with 2 bluetooth devices being connected (AirPods Pro 2 and Apple Watch). I tested three games and gamepad tester, everything went smooth and to be sure, I plugged the USB-C as well as headphones (wires can cause interference sometimes). I'm inclined to suggest that maybe your phone or your controller has an anomaly, do you have another USB-C controller to see if the problem repeats itself? It might be a faulty USB-C connector that causes electrical redundancies, that can also affect signal.

Unfortunately, the Kishi Ultra doesn't work natively on PS Remote Play app, the best way to fix that issue is to buy an app called PS Play, that'll let you use your Kishi Ultra to tap into your PS5 and it's a much better app than the native one. Or if you mean screen mapping? As for the podcast, sure man, I'd be happy to partake, let's set a time and a place and let's connect!

I currently have the Backbone, Playstation edition, and I had to get thumbstick extenders because the analogs are not only small, but the height on them is the same size of a switch and it makes playing Twitcy shooters, EXTREMELY difficult. How tall are the sticks on the Kishi Ultra? How are their height compared to an actual xbox controller? That's my main buying point. The $ isn't the problem, it's the analog height. How do they compare?

I haven't opened it but I'm pretty sure it uses ribbon cables and I've opened pretty much every other one under the sun, they all borrow the mechanic system that Backbone brought to the market, which was an improvement, yet very similar to what iPega did before. I also tried buying longer ribbon cables to extend these things and it doesn't work. So these designs are very much limited by the design they employ, something that the GameSir controller doesn't have with it's coil system. That's the major difference right there.

The only problem I've experienced with this controller is that I don't get any Rumble when it's attached to my Samsung Galaxy Tab A9. Have you experienced anything like this?
@GameTechTalk
@GameTechTalk 3 ай бұрын
On the Android devices that I have used it, I have not had any issues. On iOS however, it hasn't worked. I have a theory, rumble API for controllers is fairly recent on Android. Android 12 or 13, not too sure, so very recent considering the lifespan of the operating system. Razer came out with rumble before the API existed as part of Android, so they had implemented their own basically. That was back on Kishi V2 Pro. I wonder if it has anything to do with conflicting solutions for your rumble, especially if your device was never designed to operate under an older Android version. Just throwing thoughts out there but I know it's a point of contention for some people, you're not the only one.

The only thing that keeps me from buying the g8 is the full back. I don’t understand what they are thinking with that. Maybe if you only play maybe an hour a day, but my phone is hot after anything passed that. The one thing that is keeping me from buying this besides the ridiculous price, is the fact they keep putting remapping button on the top like some kind of lunatics. I wouldn’t mind if they put those on the top if they also put buttons on the back.

Take it from someone that also did not like the Kishi V2, not even a little bit, it was an insult to consumers if you ask me, the Kishi Ultra is leaps and bounds superior in comparison. Not even remotely close. They shouldn't even both have Kishi in their names. I'd like to tell you I'm exaggerating but I'm not. With that said, the Kishi Ultra still is overpriced in comparison to the Galileo G8 and I'd say, if you're not in a hurry, I'd recommend holding off for the abxylute s9 that should launch soon on Kickstarter.
