Great vid bud, keep em coming. To any Razer developers reading: Pretty please with sugar on top release the Junglecat 2 with double the amount of phone bracket cases, with analogue triggers. The cases should all also come with circular holes in the back, so we can attach phone coolers. Also please make a magnetic Razer phone cooler with a battery built in. Currently playing Diablo Immortal (Beta) with a Junglecat V1 on a Galaxy Note 8 and really enjoying the early game.

Great review and I just got my kishi v2 on Saturday. So far I LOVE the changes they made. It feels smaller and more solid overall. I absolutely hated the mushy dpad on v1. This is crisp and defined, and pleasantly ergonomic. I love the backbone but IOS sucks for any games that aren't for iOS, and by that I mean you need workarounds to make literally anything work. Funny, as this is released, the usb-c backbone was finally announced!

Gamevice, the makers of the Razer Kishi v1 just re-released an unbranded one with better support for bigger phones. My S21 Ultra now fits without removing the rubber bumpers but I have to still take it out of the case. I had the Kishi V2 and liked the Gamevice/v1 better in my hands. Also the V2 L2/R2 triggers was so sensitive that just resting my fingers on it set it off. Could be just my unit. I just sent the V2 back and I'm keeping the Gamevice unit.

I think a tremendous benefit to this (and I'm still waiting to receive my V2) is that it should be the only quality usb C telescoping controller that will work with a Surface Duo. I enjoy the Gamesir X2 but it's nowhere near the quality of the Kishi V1, and I can't wait to put it to the test. I do think I'll need to add some sort of spacer to the risers to accommodate how super thin it is, but otherwise it should work just fine.

Thanks for the charging info. It's my biggest regret over buying the first Kishi. And USB audio would also be awesome, since unless you buy the Hammerhead earbuds or another set with a gaming mode, Bluetooth lag is just too noticable. And that's really ironic, right? The device is designed to get us past input lag, but doesn't help at all with audio lag. As for the original's ability to fit phones, I took out the foam inserts. I no longer need to take my phone (Galaxy S21) out of its case. Of course, I would recommend not having a case on during gameplay anyway. The cases will always retain heat and heat's not good for gaming. But again, thanks for the review.

I have the V1 and loved it, though I have a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and it was a TIGHT fit. Later on, the ribbon cable messed up and it would've been a feasible fix, but I haven't found the right length for a replacement cable. (I got a cable that worked, but was too short.) The updates to the V2 seems like you won't have that issue though, which is nice to see. If I decide I need a new phone controller, I'm definitely going with the V2, but I have a Steam Deck now and that probably won't be necessary anymore.

My review Positives -Feels more comfortable than the v1 -Triggers are a lot smoother - Super easy to click in large phones - Feels more premium and less cheap - Screenshot /record dedicated button - New grip texture on back Negatives - Thumbsticks are now just like joycons so very tiny and less travel - Smaller face buttons like switch - Right thumbstick is less offset to the buttons -no rumble Preferences You'll either love the new tactile face buttons and d pad or not. I have gotten used to em and they are good. No more mushyness like v1. Overall just a better experience than the V1 especially how quick I can get my phone in and out. The backbone is the best mobile controller out and Razer has noticed ad you can see. The Backbone will be releasing for Android in November this year.

I was considering something like this, or a cheap clip for an Xbox controller like you mentioned near the start of the video. But with the options for standalone handhelds getting much better, I'm starting to think it would be easier to just get one of them. The Kishi V2 isn't really that much more portable than the Ayn Odin, for example, and with the Odin you're not having to make your phone pull double duty as a gaming machine. Which would be less than ideal in terms of managing the battery and storage usage, plus most phones don't have very good cooling solutions.
@deleted72636

That's what I'm thinking plus you dont get black bars on the Odin unlike smartphones. Only thing is the resell value for the Odin Pro is ridiculous right now.
@lucascarracedo7421
@lucascarracedo7421 2 жыл бұрын
Well yes. But both options can suit different use cases. You always have your phone with you, so for some that's a plus. Also, a modern smartphone can be much more powerful and efficient than an Odin, so you could limit it to odin levels of performance, which could be a workaround for the lesser thermal solution. My main issue with these usbc controllers is that they all end up forcing the usbc port of the phone badly due to bending, which is absolutely horrible on the long term
@Odd_Taxi_epi04

The cheap clip for an Xbox controller solution don't force the usb-c port, and you can use it with usb-c, and not only with your phone. I find very hard to justify those dedicated phone controllers.

By the way my friend, you should try the test with checking the wattage when the phone battery is much lower life, as in closer to dead. As the phone is more charged, the charging power will be severely throttled (intentionally) You should see your full speed charges when your battery is closer to dead, which also may have affected (but maybe didn't) the max speed for the Kishi charge test as well. Anyways, you can get real readings from the charging speed as your battery is closer to dead, so I hope that helps.

Does the usb on the controller accept storage. Thinking in getting a usb drive to put more cd games for on the go... Why wouldn't a phone have expandable storage. Makes it a pain to reset the phone now. Also where is the ringtone for text messeges?

I like the OG kishi design. Its easier to carry in a case and takes less space in my backpack. I don't like this design because I'll only be able to use it at home. If I place it in my backpack, it looks like it will break. At home I'd rather use my Xbox controller and a phone clip.

You might have gotten a poorly made Kishi. My phone hasn't had an issue charging through the Kishi. I did have an issue with the R1 trigger, but I fixed it after opening the controller and doing some lite soldering.

I need a comparison between this Kishi 2 and the Gamevice Kishi re-brand. I have the original Kishi that I got super cheap, but I hate the mushy membrane buttons frankly. I also have to take the case off my OnePlus 7 Pro to make it fit which is annoying. I just need to know whether I need to pay the full price for a Kishi V2 or if the Gamevice have adequate button feel and rumble that I need to actually get the console quality feel to play all my indie tactical RPGs, deckbuilders, and rogue-likes I love without having to give up the use of my OLED TV that doesn't do anything to enhance those types of games.

I don't own either the GV or the Kishi V2; but from what I've read the Gamevice is the OG Kishi with a longer band and possibly some tweaks to the rubber grips, both done so it can fit thicker and longer phones. Everything else, for better or worse, is identical. They say the best way to get an answer is to post the wrong answer on the Internet. So, if I'm wrong I'm sure we'll hear about it.

I wish the game controllers have a built in battery with pass thru charging with over charge protection so the game controller can charge your phone while the controller is being charged at the same time while having a headphone jack on the game controllers with 0 audio latency gaming and better audio quality with wired headphones. I still have not yet found a game controller with all the features that I mentioned.

Sounds like a good controller, but seeing what it costs it also needs to be. As I wanna try the concept I lean towards something less pricey, but on the other hand it would be silly to buy something that either ruins my try or quick to become trash. I shall need to do some research :)

Now that this one is out you can find the first version used for like 25 to 30 bucks. I just am so incisive when it comes to deciding what controller to get. And for which phone.... Ultimately I would like to use the v60 or the Pixel 6 pro, but they're both giant phones.

Getting those higher charging rates through the controller is tough, because that means that a lot of components along that path in the PCB has to be more 'robust' let us say. Not impossible, but the things that are rated at 120W are much larger/expensive/rare than the things that are rated to 15w. I want the controller light/cheap/easy to find. I'm okay with slow charging through my controller. So is every PlayStation controller user. (Sorry PS Gamers)

Also, 120w is totally outside of the USB PowerDelivery spec, Asus is doing some very specific things to get to that wattage.

It's funny that they made each side less high to avoid them being bigger than the phone, but with the sliding mechanism the actual footprint is much bigger. This is a design disaster and what happens when companies have no idea what they are doing and are completely out of touch with the user base.

I got the Kishi 2 myself and I like the feel, but I hate that I have to remove my phone (OnePlus 8T) from its case in order to fit it in, and even then it feels a bit loose. I think it could have use some foam on the sides to keep phones sturdier in place, but it would probably cover the sound as well. I may have to 3d print something to hold things better in place.
