Deal-breakers: - No VESA mount - Mandatory USB for lighting - Cable system is over-complicated - 8bit panel in 2019 - Price I've got nothing against Razer, but there are just too many flaws in this design to give it a pass. I definitely wouldn't want a wireless charging station on the base as it would up the cost even more.

This is my take on how to make this monitor better: 1. Updated version with at leaat 240Hz 2. Removable base with VESA mount support 3. Chroma in the back since the stand will be removable 4. Cables should slide easier through the passthrough 5. Maybe an aluminum backplate instead of fabric

It’s a 13-16ms monitor for people who play with color. If you play in black and white only, then you have a true 1ms G2G (Gray to another gray color). This is a marketing strategy to hit gamers who dont know much about it. We gamers today should care about input lag (the time it takes for a frame to transport from the CPU/GPU to the monitor & update info on the monitor). And in future, we should care about a true gamer’s dream, a 1ms any color to any color, because, let’s get real, we dont play in black or white.

The price is about right since its the best in class for color and input lag, check some real reviews from Tomshardware and Cnet. Specs mean nothing for monitors so of course you can get identical specs for $400 but that's all marketing.

I mean it's not too far off honestly. I think it's only ~$100-150 more than the general market. The stand is definitely higher quality than it's competitors regardless on if you're a fan of the design. With thin bezels and lighting also. All that little stuff costs money so I don't think it's a ridiculous ask, but also none of that really matters to most people looking for a monitor. If it were $50-100 less I think it would be a strong contender. We'll see how it sells I guess.

I have a complete Razer setup with everything Razer besides monitor and camera. I agree with the sentiment that this monitor is mostly build for the fanboys who simply want Razer everything. I can't even deny that I would buy it simply for that reason. It's not the best monitor, but it fits the gimmicks and build quality that (while a lot of people seem to make fun of it, it's not that bad) Razer collectors or even general consumers should start to really expect. Now I'm gonna wait for you guys to review the Razer Toaster whenever that comes out.

You could not have released this at a better time. Thank you. I been researching monitors for weeks now. Being a creative I was leaning towards the HP 4k Z27. After building my 1st rig a month back and picking up Gears 5, I figured something with a higher refresh rate would be nice to have. I've been looking for a very particular monitor - 27" 1440p IPS 144hz w/ type-c and g-sync compatible. I stumbled on the Asus Tuf VG27AQ which I think after watching this is a no brainer. It has everything this monitor has, minus the type-c (but you mentioned this isn't a fully functional type-c port). You are also able to pivot the Asus Tuf a full 90 which is great for content editing. You can turn on motion blur with adaptive sync simultaneously (apparently this is a first). My only gripe is the bezel. I like things that have a clean and simplistic design. I know with gaming monitors this is hard to find. I love the Dell S2719DGF, but its a TN panel unfortunately =(. IMO - if you are looking for a monitor strictly for gaming and you like curved displays, the TUF Gaming VG32VQ is a 31.5" VA Display and would also a great option at $260 cheaper than the Razer Raptor. Me personally, as a creative, I need the IPS panel and the curve would drive me nuts in photoshop. .... After talking this out, I think I just convinced myself which monitor I should get.

gray color to another gray color is 1ms (1ms G2G). I want a real 1ms with COLOR, not GRAY. Also, the speed of change color is nothing else but marketing, almost all gaming monitors are 1ms, the real deal today is input lag. The time it takes from CPU/GPU to produce next frame and send the info to the screen on the monitor. it’s more likely to be 16ms.

razer's design team is doing wonders with their peripherals, ( cable mess apart) the monitor looks so simple, clean and futuristic.. it's designed for gaming but it will still be decent to put that in your office and be a center show. As a razer ecosystem fanboy - I'm never going to buy the Raptor. 1) Needs Vesa. 2) Get rid of the gimmick cable routing. 3) Add RGB to two zones: - The rear of the monitor so that it shine on the back of the monitor on the wall. ie: Philips Hue - The monitor trim RGB, all around. - The front monitor trim RGB could also work like MPG27CQ with SteelSeries GameSense. 3) Base Improvements: - QI Charging on the Left - New Mouse charging point on the right side of the base. (Viper and Basilisk) - optional Mouse Bungee on the right and left (for lefties) - Thinner and get rid of the routing. - Keep the RGB Zones Use the front OSD to change the LED Zone colors instead of requiring Synapse. Panel: 240hz 1440p, curved and not-curved options.

I don’t get it. You say the display is superb but meme the heck out of this monitor? I don’t know about you guys but I think the display is the most important thing in a monitor. Your points aren’t wrong but I think there should be more emphasis on display quality. I’ve had a Stealth and the display was top of the line. Their laptop screens in general are the favorite of many enthusiasts.

"feels too big for me".. srry thats my dirty mind for you lol. but yea 1440p 2k is pretty decent, and i'd agree 27 is a bit too big. i ahve a 2k mnoitor right nowo that's a bit under 24 inches display. around 24 is right for me, nothing too crazy and so no gpu artifacts and such, or the display is a bit too much for the GPU to handle, like max resolution before FPS drops and stuff.

@@AlexandruDoarme Correct, even the icon size and the ability to fit two documents side by side without having to re-size is the reason a 27" is better than 24" (if that makes sense).

If you're going to do monitor reviews, and say that the monitor "seems calibrated", please get a color calibrator and show results for just how well the monitor does. Linus does these on his, and it's good to see if companies are keeping quality control well done from monitor to monitor. Plus, it's just good to know before buying the product.
