Hey Matt! I just purchased a 5 vintage razor lot off ebay. Included is a Gem 1912, a generic open comb with a 6 sided handle, a 40s Super Speed, a Gillette Single Ring, AND the super prize of it all is the Gillette DOUBLE RING!!!!! I only paid $27.22 TOTAL PRICE!!!!! It arrives Saturday the 6th! I can't wait!! This is the best deal i have ever had on ebay!! Thanks for the archive series!! JimG

Great video. I was lucky and found a 1903/1904 with no serial number at an antique store in Prescott. I honestly thought it was a clone until I got home and cleaned it up enough to see the “PAT APL’D FOR” text on the handle. Hard to believe I have one of the first 55,000 razors that Gillette manufactured.

Videos like this are the reason why I subscribed! Can't get enough from videos about historic Gillettes! I have an Old Type with the ball end handle wich was in our family forever! Probably bought in the 30s or 40s in todays Iran, former Persia, it has found its way to Germany. Have a great day! :)

I found a couple of old DE's on an antique market. One of them is a double ring. It became my bi-daily shaver. It's a wonderful idea that I can still buy new blades for a DE that is over a century old.

Interesting Video. I have a Double Ring with serial number 53440 (no cracks, nothing bent, good condition) with box from new york and both blade boxes. It's the highlight of my collection of more than 70 razors. Greetings from Germany.

I just received a Gillette model 460 from 1906 S/N 393965 with a box saying Times Building-Times Square New York, N.Y. The razor itself is perfect, no bent teeth and no cracking. The box is in rough shape 😥

I love these videos! I've got an Old Type from the 20s that still shaves like a charm but haven't been successful in tracking down a Double Ring. Always on the hunt!

2:32 Interesting how the ad says 10 to 30 perfect shaves without bother or attention and also how they would gladly exchange 12 dull blades for 6 brand new ones.

Just got my Gillette double ring 1904 from ebay with writing ”Pat app. for” and Serial number 2275 which is according to the label on the case(from gillette product library) , the only double ring razor found with the ”Pat app. For” marking and a serial number.

I bought the razor from the former VP of Gillette shaving technology , Tom Gallerani, it had been his price possession of gillette history the past 37 years 👍🏻

So the ones that do not have a serial # should be worth more since they only made 55K?

Where are the double rings on the razor? How does a double ring differ from a single ring?
@RazorEmporium6 жыл бұрын

I'm starting to think you started Razor Emporium so you could write off your collection on your taxes. :)
@RazorEmporium6 жыл бұрын
Razor Emporium was the result of collecting. It was created to sell off duplicates from the collection ;)

I dont think anyone could have made the company you did without having a passion for what they do. Great job Matt!!
