I always questioned whether Alanah ever actually played Elden Ring, or any souls game. Anyone who plays those games knows that you just quit out of the game if you need to "pause." It creates an exit save, and when you you come back you're right where you were. It's functionally a pause with extra steps, and it's been that way since Demon's Souls in 2009. I'm also disabled (the real kind, not because I have a baby), and yet somehow I can quit out of the game. That must seem like magic to her

My guess is that she's talking about games that you can't pause whenever you want, especially in cut-scenes. If so, I totally agree with her. We've had 50 years of gaming and some things should ABSOLUTELY be standard: The ability to pause at ANY time (including cut-scenes, without them skipping) The ability to invert X and Y axis The ability to remap the ENTIRE controller The ability to turn MOST things off (voices, music, sound effect, vibration, motion blur, chromatic aberration etc) INDEPENDENTLY And many more things Gaming is the ONLY industry that lived 50 years and never standardized anything but things their consumers don't care about (like day one patches, lootboxes etc)
