@@npckse8508 "I Just don't understand not marketing a game towards the largest percentage of the fanbase that you can." It's because the workers don't care about profits. They're Marxists, both culturally and economically. Also, it's not their personal money they'd be wasting; it's the company's, and they feel entitled to use the company to platform their ideology even if it means driving the company into bankruptcy. As for the company owners or board of directors, many of them are lied to about how poor sales was due to "racism" (or whatever) and that sales will improve as time goes on as the country becomes more progressive. They make empty promises about how injecting rainbow propaganda into their products will pay off in the long run, and keep wasting money on garbage products that no one wants to buy. And y'know what? This may have to do with Chinese/Russian influence, as it appears that both countries have been waging an ideological warfare against the West for the past few decades by exploiting the education system's openness. Just as the Soviets claimed that genetics were a "social construct", the woke mob here claims that gender is a "social construct." Things start to make sense once you compare communist ideology in Russia and China to the far left here in the west, and it's no surprise that the same far left overwhelmingly supports "socialism" to varying degrees.

Just let people make what they want to make without some made up "sensitivity" worker derailing the entire thing. And this goes for all forms of entertainment. I tend to like TV shows more when there's only 1 or 2 writers instead of an entire room. Or like when pro wrestling was 1 or 2 head guys and now it's an entire room full of "tv writers." The big problem (and the reason that this keeps on happening) is that the money folks funding DEI (Vanguard, BlackRock, State Street, etc.) have also mandated replacing board members and executives with DEI ideologues. And the main two components of DEI are grifting (saying you are doing one thing when you are doing something different) and gaslighting (framing the people who oppose you as something they are not). This ideologue at Obsidian knows that he won't be fired, because DEI people on the board will protect him, and the money corpos funding Obsidian and Microsoft will defend him.

I don't care what the characters look like and I don't even care that much about pronouns. What I do care about however is the people making the games coming about and attacking gamers and labeling us all as a bunch of bigots, chuds, gooners, etc. _THAT_ is why even though I've been a huge fan of all of Obsidian's games (especially Pillars of Eternity) I'm seriously considering not buying Avowed, not because of pronouns. Avowed was made for gamers like me but their art director has completely turned me off and that is a problem Obsidian _needs_ to fix if they want the game to succeed.

Saw a post by the creator of One Piece. He realized only his female fans wrote in because boys can't be bothered. They will once in a while when they get stationary or something. So he looks to what he'd want to see in a manga to appeal to them. And you can see where other authors listened to those female fans. Entertainment is becoming like that. Most fans just enjoy it or go away. It's a portion that feels they need to reach out and be heard, so the heads listen thinking those are the fans. Until the other fans complain, then they tell them to shut up for not being real fans.
@Terralventhe21 сағат бұрын
Yep. Fans speak by consuming and praising in public or amongst friends. These teams of geopolitical experts are so incredible at their jobs that they mix up the Puerto Rican and Cuban flags and probably refuse to acknowledge Taiwan as a country. 🤷♂️

My problem with this take is that games don't have to be multi-million dollar projects. I'm a supporter of artistic expression, meaning whatever the artist wants to put into their art I support. They can deal with the repercussions of those decisions later then decide whether or not to take any advice that comes their way. Video games do not have to be multi million-dollar projects. Some of my favorite games out there have no voice acting and we're developed by a team of like 20 people. American consumers beg to be fed. They grow fat on carefully constructed IP's designed to fit the diets of masses. The greatest artists in history were always controversial and divisive. I'm not interested in climbing to the top of the 300th Tower to collect another map fragment I want art.

The great news is that many talented devs have left these dysfunctional behemoths and are creating fresh IP's that are not focused on selling season passes, DLC content, and DEI-infused stories and characters.

1:33 This is quite easy. Two reasons. 1. Greed Gaming has become bigger than movies, and everyone knows where the money is, the vampires and parasites, always follow. 2. Games were hijacked by activists and activist groups, to be used as vehicles for propaganda. It's really not that difficult, and you don't have to dig all that deep to get to the rotten core of it all.

Laura looks EXACTLY how you would expect a placeholder DEI hire to look haha but she's far from that. Very insightful of the woes of the AAA corporate machine and a great sense of humour as well.

Hey man, I can’t complain. You know how much money I’ve saved from not buying western AAA games in recent years ? Most of the games I support today are 70% eastern made, and 30% older western made, Indy and AA. I can’t remember the last time I bought a game from a giant American corporation like EA Microsoft or Sony. The only Sony exclusive games I buy now are Eastern made. So I can’t complain. I’ve saved hundreds of dollars. I’m not gonna buy ghost of Yotei, I’m not gonna buy intergalactic, or anything that’s coming out of Sony America now or Microsoft. That’s money in my pocket.

Why feel sorry for staff when one of them or their leaders wreck it and end up getting the studio disbanded? Did they not know the mindset of the people there? We all make choices. Where to work/who to work with are among them. Some of those choices cause unemployment. Not. Our. Problem.

I don't think you guys know what you are talking about loll.. You can chose where you work but definitely not with who you work loll.. and if you want a place in the video game industry the places are even more limited... You can't just decide where you'll go unless you are one of the 15 big names of the industry... And you have people on both side of the spectrum in any of these industries.. except your opinion doesn't really matter if you're a level designer, a quality control guy or a programmer.. you won't overshadow the creative director and even if you are the creative director you can't really go against the CEO or the Shareholders in the bigger places.. Even if 300 guys tell the CEO he is wrong, if he thinks he's right then that's what you get.

@@eLWacKaZ I had no idea I couldn't leave a company filled with psychotic activists. I was under the assumption the choice of where one was willing to work and who one was willing to work with was up to the person offering their labor. Imagine my surprise to learn America was actually Soviet Russia/China.

It is 10x more expensive to attract a new client or "fan" than it is to keep an existing fan happy. That is Business 101. It's like these game companies think new folks with fist fulls of cash will show up by the bus load to buy the garbage they couldn't force feed the existing fan base.
