If anything the rb30 was first used in the r31 skyline, Holden bought rights to use the rb30 for the vl due to the 202 failing emissions tests Though in the case of the video the vl was the only one manufactured with a turbo and non turbo set up

I know the American people are going to love me, but sorry - I forgot to include the imperial units. However it is not a deal breaker that they are not in the tech spec charts. If you are very much willing to know them, you can use various online units converters. Besides that, I hope you enjoy the video.

the rb27 is a very uncommon setup,and also might as well go to a rb30 setup if your gonna be disassembling the motor,and the rb28 only came in the r33 400r which are a very rare car,and rb34s could have been included but still arnt that common,and rd motors? the only rd's are the rd28's and arnt anything special, the only time they are modded are in c33 laurels

I'm glad we can now import the R32's into the U.S legally. I, unlike a lot of these damn kids would just buy one and appreciate it for how and what it is. The GTR R32's are fairly high dollar but I've looked into the GTS-4 series, which is the detuned GTR with a RB20DET but is AWD and cheaper by about 4k-5k. I'm assuming the RB26DETT, would be a fairly straight forward bolt/drop in affair.
@Incurafy
@Incurafy 7 жыл бұрын
You're usually better of just buying an R32 GTR, but if it's really going to be $5k cheaper AFTER the swap, then yes. An RB26DETT from an R32 GTR will swap straight into an R32 GTS-4.

That's actually not entirely correct bro. Series 1 VL's had no provision for oil feed or drain off the block, but series 2 and 3 do have the very same block you talk about. By the way, I've got a pretty bad arse R31 with a built engine with a GTX3582R ;)

Great video dude. Just don't agree with your assessment on the RB25. When I live in Okinawa in the early 2000s every RB25 owner I knew said it was almost the perfect engine. Couldn't get the power output of the RB26 but you could do anything to it and it would keep running forever. Never knew anyone that complained about weak piston rings. Again just my opinion. For my 94 Z32 300zx slick-top I'm thinking of converting from the VG30 to the RB26, maybe. But I still love the VG30 and I have time to really think about it.

The 20b is a better motor, many people will disagree but how many of them have had the opportunity to drive both and feel the differences between the two. I've had my RX7 for 10 years now.

Really, I was pretty sure it was stroked! Have been talking to my machinist about replacing my RB30ET with a Nizmo block RB26 and putting that crank in it

+Daniel Brealey I'm not sure about the rb28. What car do you drive?
@wa.gtrsoul
@wa.gtrsoul 7 жыл бұрын
It's not the block but rather the crank nose where it drives the oil pump. An aftermarket crank collar is an easy fix. Late model r32's and onward have "long nose" cranks with wider gear drives.

shawn csv Wait did you call me kid? And I was stating that since it uses the RB26 block with a stroker style crankshaft, conrods and pistons it raised the displacement to 2.8l. I don't know what you are meaning, if you're trying to call me out on not knowing what I am talking about then that's bizarre.

Cool video, but there are some small corrections: RB30 never came turbo in a Nissan, but did come turbocharged in a different car made by GM Holden, the VL Commodore. The R31 Nissan skyline in Australia only came as a non-turbo RB30E single cam. As for the RB20, there are several variants, NICS (early) then ECCS (late) even the very early RB20E, RB20ET Single cam engines, and then the RB20DE, RB20DET Twincam engines (red cam covers AKA Redtop), that came in the JDM HR31 Skyline and other models. Then from the R32 Skyline, the RB20DET was revised and came with silver cam covers (silvertop) as shown in your video. I loved your video! Cheers!
