Good tip about valve clearances possibly changing after bolting the head(s) down, particularly on a Subaru with head studs. I have experienced this and always double-check clearances now after installing head(s).

Hi! I am currently working on my 26. I’m a little lost as I’m trying to work out what shims I require, but how do you work out the total shim clearance?

This step by step should apply the same to the rb26 head. The shims are just in a different location. You'll need to measure clearance and record, measure shim thickness and record. Then add or subtract to the shim thickness based on your desired clearance.

@@boost.factory got it sorted. Cheers for your help. 🤙🏽 just had to measure the original shim thickness as you said. Great video aswell, very detailed and anybody could do this from home because of it.

Great video! Question. Is the rb26 head the same build process as the rb25? And will you be doing a tech video for the rb26 head?

Very similar! The primary difference is the under bucket shims on the rb26!

awesome videos. do you need to remove all of this now to fit the head onto the block, to get at the head studs?

This cylinder head was an oem rebuild with oem head bolts, so we didn't. but if you do use ARP Head studs, the cams will need to be taken out to fit the socket onto the nut.

Is the cams supposed to spin ince yiu install them?
@boost.factory
@boost.factory 6 ай бұрын
Aside from valve spring pressure, they should spin easily. usually I try to verify this before installing valve train.

Guys do you remember color of the markings on valve sprigns ? green dot is intake ?
@boost.factory
@boost.factory 5 ай бұрын
the part numbers on the RB25 NEO valve springs are the same intake and exhaust, the green marking or painted side of the Spring ( tighter wound coil end) usually goes towards the bottom/ down

why doesn't my RB25DET have shims on the top of the buckets like the RB25 neo, And how would I do my clearances on it knowing it is a different design? Thank you

The RB25 S1/S2 Is a hydraulic lifter system, this design is self adjusting and requires no clearance checks.
