@juddpalmer54454 жыл бұрын
EpiDemic117 Well we are a constitutional democracy. By every standard and most law books say we are a democracy. But in reality we are neither a pure constitutional democracy or a pure constitutional republic. We as a country are a mix between and that balance is always shifting but it stays about 70/30 constitutional democracy. All of my law books admit we are not a pure anything. Just like the economic system isn’t pure capitalist, it’s a socio-capitalist. The us is an experiment because if our constitution wasn’t a living document the us would have only been in history book and not a reality today.

It's interesting seeing the way the made this trailer. In the beginning, they were showing a scene where they announce the walk-in of RBG. That is actually from last year when she made a public appearance at VMI (same place where a huge Supreme Court case of letting women into an all male military school). Sadly, the entire visit was ruined by the two "biographers" that follow her around as they asked her idiotic questions while seemingly trying to prove to the Corp of Cadets that she had a background in the military. Maybe it was for establishing a relatable characteristic, but all it did was alienate the opinion of the Corp from a great woman in history. I remember us Cadets being excited to see what a Supreme Court Justice had to say to us and what wisdom she could provide due to the current events at the time. All such expectations were lost and destroyed by the two that have recorded her life. I truly feel like the two women in this documentary do a disservice to RBG in displaying the magnitude of the impact that she had.

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter-when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday." - Isaiah 58:6-10
