Kingsize001100 it's not a roots type supercharger...it's an impeller type...ever look inside a turbo ? Granted...this thing is only spinning maybe 36-40,000 rpm at most, wheras a true turbo will spin at well over 100,000 rpm. These small single cylinder motors require very little air and that large impeller (large for anything 20-50 cc) moves more then enough air to make a pound or two of boost.

A blower is mounted to the front of an engine like a Paxton or vortex and a supercharger is mounted directly to the intake like a Whipple twin screw. Hope that clarifies it for you.

He also has a HPI based Kraken Class 1 with a 32.5cc supposedly making 5.5hp on knobbies also I might try and make a package deal on the 2 👍 I also made a mistake on first comment kinda as it's the Kraken Sx5 Sandrail to be exact that has the 34.5cc OBR with the SC and some other upgrades on it. It's on slicks for road use but comes with some knobbies! Interesting, theoretically all 2strokes are supercharged the piston underside is a reciprocating air pump. But it sucks the air in at less than 0psig so if you pressurize the intake you could get more combustion air into the cylinder. I have never seen this done before but I guess it works.

31% gain in power divided by $ 275.00, is it worth it ?. Will this extra HP be usable to an average RC Joe ? Have you tried these engines running at sustained engine speed of 17,500 RPM, then you will see the difference. You have not indicated the engine temperature before getting the data and other atmospheric conditions. Just my insights....

pinoyeh you'd obviously go to a taller gear set and try to keep the rpm's where the peak power is (11,000-12,500 or so) rpm does. Ot equate to horsepower. As you can see, the power rapidly falls off after 13,700 so why you'd continue to rev it higher is a mystery to me.

OK, found the dyno vid. I would have like to have seen the fuel curved optimized on the base motor. If it was set up rich and the blower caused it to go lean it might account for as much as 20% of the increase. And not familiar with inertia dyno, automotive dyno measures torque, torque is what does the work, hp is just a computation based on torque and rpm. If they haven't spent several hundred hours on the dyno ans shredded a pile of motors its still backyard amateur time.

Bob, I have a couple questions; first, isn't the the pressurized air coming in as the piston is going up on the compression stroke, and therefore you will have an overpressured crankcase dampening the piston during the ignition, at least until it moves below the roof of the transfers and the pressure pushes out the exhaust? Second, wouldn't you need a specially tuned pipe, since you have a change in the gasses leaving the exhaust port? it seems like the timing to bounce back and push the escaping air/fuel inside would be different. I was surprised you guys don't have pipes tuned for your superchargers. I might be interested in a 49cc version if you ever make one.

the pipe will accommodate any amount of exhaust and work, although a perfectly tuned pipe is definitely better...also the piston is slowed down, but not as much as it's helped downward by the harder combustion. If it weren't pressurizing due to the piston, he might see 50 percent increase

Let me explain things to you people. A supercharger uses engine power to create power. It's parasitic power. In the end there is something connected physically to the engine that spins something else to create boost. Further more, any boost over atmospheric pressure is a gain. As long as the air fuel ratios are proper. That means this is real and it works. That is all.

You can't produce meaningful boost in an engine where the exhaust and intake ports are open at the same time, which is the case with all piston ported two stroke engines such as this one. Your BEST case scenario is you just push excess fuel/air/oil mix out the exhaust port. Any pressure gained from the supercharger is vented to atmosphere the instant the intake ports open, as the exhaust port opens first and closes last. If you want to boost an engine you need to be able to force more A/F mix into the cylinder than will naturally fill it when it's N/A. And you can't do that in a piston ported two stroke.

Red Long This test is completely useless... In a real car we don't test HP out in the Crank because its worthless and completely useless.. ANY ENGINE with no load can gain shit tons of HP out of the most stupid modification shit even changing the filter can affect your HP that is why we do a Dyno at the WHEELS because it takes into consideration drivetrain loss and total weight of the car.. Unless this is done in a BAJA and Dyno the wheels they cant prove they gained shit... Its like buying a brand new spanking Mustang Shelby GT500 and then realize ford just specd out the Crank HP and in fact your supposedly "500HP" car only has +/-427whp a rather different number you see.. If you put that into perspective this S/C can only be adding .20HP at most and that isn't worth the 275bucks price tag.. You could probably gain more than that with just higher octane fuel.. And well "Adding" its a wrong word since S/C don't work on 2 Strokes to begin with.

how about you dyno a nitro engine? Also, the data input can be modified on a dyno run. IE, Ambient Air temperature, air pressure, and humidity. There's also a HUGE low end lag, one I wouldn't say it's worth it u less you ran a higher rpm clutch.

Shoddy "dyno" Snake oil. I've tossed lots of customers "power adders" because they are just jewelry on tiny displacement engines. We always recommend carb, crank mods and juicing that work opposed to bling that removes power.

Turbo and supercharged 2 strokes has been a thing for decades, and does work. He'll diesel 2 strokes have to have a turbo or supercharger to run. Ski-do snow mobiles have turbo 2 strokes in them as well.

@@TheAmericanUhate Yes, of course supercharging 2-strokes is a thing, but only on 2-strokes with exhaust valves. the Diesel 2-strokes that youre talking about have inlet and exhaust valves and dont use the crankcase for pushing the gas exchange in the zylinders , they use a turbo or supercharger for that. theyre basically 4-strokes where youve put the inlet and exhaust in the same place, and thats inbetween the compression and power stroke at the lower deadspot. ive never had a look at ski-do snow mobiles, but eather theire diesels (like i explained above) or theyll have a rotary exhaust (and most likely also intake) valve making it possible to be charged. on a regular 2-stroke (like all 2-stroke model engines ive come across) charging would only have negative effects. you would be pressurising the crankcase, hindering the piston from pushing into it on powerstroke and when the gas exchange happens the over pressure would push straight to the exhaust port (which is open at the same time as the inlet port, most often even longer than the inlet) and because of fluid dynamics not even exchange the entire volume of the zylinder. theres a good reason why 2-stroke technology went away from a high pressure gas exchange to a low pressure slow flowing gas exchange using the tuned exhaust pipe

Will proof is in the application. I bash with a Rampage and a 32cc engine. My buddy and I bought ours at the same time and when ever we drag raced they were equal. I put this charger on mine and it has much better acceleration at mid range and better top end than his. In 100 feet my truck is 10 to 15 lengths ahead of his every time we try. Is it 31% better, NO. Is it worth the money I would say YES if you like cool things to play with.

For superchargers driven by the crankshaft of the engine, it does not matter if the compressor is upstream or downstream of the throttle body. For a turbocharger where the compressor RPM isn't directly tied to the speed of the engine, however, the compressor should be upstream of the throttle plate.

You don't want one... Just makes the engine run lean. The engine already sucks in as much air as it can get... Not worth the money

Yeah iy runs lean. And just makes the piston loose compression quick. I had one wasnt happy. But yeah it looks sweet installed lol. Now planning on getting a SC for my baja, but i dont know if its the same as a nitro engine. Since this one has its own ignition so running lean wont be a problem. But im more in if its going to gain hp.

I would spend my money on a bigger displacement engine with the same foot print. Match a good tuned pipe. Like an OBR setup. An engine with this gear boosting power is just asking for 1/2 the lifespan. why bother.

hello cool guys. the first engine is ported.. the second one is not ported..... ported means more duration, a bigger exhaust port. when you file the port bigger the power in low rpm is gone away... my ears hear an engine without power in the bottom end. You always need some power in bootom cross motor power you want. not puch maxi effect or vespa ciaou the super charger must take away a lot of power when it's not working at low rpm. also because the transmission is not geared down but geared up. my experience learns me always gear down from crankshaft when you try to gear up..... the engine dont like it especialy two stroke's they need to run free groetjes uit nederland

You can't supercharge a two stroke, it blows right through. If it was a four stroke, it would definitely work.

Wrong! There are plenty of turbocharged (and some supercharged) 2 stroke engines ... i worked at a snowmobile dealership and we fabricated MANY turbo kits on 2 strokes ... all with massive gains. Tested with a water brake dyno.

centrifugal superchargers aren't screwtypes used in cars. I am guessing less efficient at lower rpm.

Something is out-of-whack with this video. The chart is wildly out of sync with the test. The L-R direction (X-axis) in the chart shows low-high engine RPM while the Y-axis shows HP output.... so, why does the RPM continuue to climb while the video clearly shows the engine revving then slowing? In my experience, most dyno tests need to be run over the course of at least a full minute to map power output over both engine speed and engine load changes. How do you "dyno" a motor without a dynamic load!?

+Grant Arnold its just the animation for the graph being out of synch with the audio of the video if you expect a real time readout [which it is not], but you can clearly see the the throttle is wide open the entire time the engine tone is ascending

+joshua arnott ... okay, that does make sense. the chart is the output of the test (not in sync with the video/audio) and it's basically charting the wattage at the flywheel as the motor revs to redline. the power increases are pretty amazing, in that case!

Dynamometers utilize a generator as a brake in how they're wired they provide resistance to the engine and by mathematical calculation in the software produce hp and torque readings. Same for motorcycle, atv, and auto dynos. I used to own one myself. You also have a delay from the signal through software to screen as well the video being synced. A couple milliseconds makes a difference but meaningless in the scheme of things. I'd say this is a pretty accurate depiction of their product. Yet in comparison to car Superchargers it would be considered very low quality but for an Rc car it's pretty rockin.

That is true, but your engines have no where close to the torque value. HP can be found with RPM's, which is why your 29,000 rpm .25 can see such high output numbers to begin with. Indy car engines could be thought of as example. They are extremely fast reving and make huge HP numbers with such a tiny stroke, but if you put that engine in your typical heavy framed grocery get'r, you wouldn't get two feet before you burned out your clutch or stalled the engine from lack of torque to get moving.
