Who cares what Rolling Stone magazine ranks Sly Dunbar in their top 100 drummer. For the simple fact that SLY DUNBAR and Robbie Shakespeare has played and recorded over 250,000 recordings plus numerous international hits... Make Sly Dunbar the Greatest Drummer PERIOD.....👊🏿 🥁
@laszlojasz30063 жыл бұрын
their enormous output well respected, yet the assumption they have contributed to 250.000 recordings can only be a slight case of irrealistic exaggeration for the maths do simply not work out. that would mean they have laid town an average of 14 tracks each and every day through 50 years...that is simply impossible.

250000 is crazy - if Carol Kaye one of the most prolific bassists of all time played on 10000 or 15000 records - 100000 is impossible RESPECT to Robbie rip No disrespect intended - sending respect to the wrecking crew and Stax and Motown and the Jamaican mafia ;)
@IrishJam935 ай бұрын
Remember Jamaica has a riddim culture meaning they made single backing tracks that 10 or 15 different artists would go on to record over. This multiplied their output significantly!

@percussionboy43573 жыл бұрын
Robbie just said “Family Man,” and the interviewer may have missed that, not connected the dots that it was Family Man Barrett from the Wailers. So much of this interview is very clear if you already know the background-the players, clubs, studios, artists from Kingston 40-50 years ago. But not everyone knows that. Robbie thought he should have known though! “You don’t know bout Family Man??!?”
