He was on the same vote blue no matter who train as the other people that destroyed our Democracy were. In general, I like this channel, but it was a bit much to shame men into voting for Harris when there wasn't any effort to earn the votes by offering us things that we might want. It was about the impact it would have on other people. And quite frankly, a lot of us are tired of being expected to vote against our own interests because the stakes are so high. The stakes are high every election. Reagan's election resulted in many thousands of unnecessary HIV related deaths. GHWB had the first war in Iraq. Clinton spent most of his administration fighting various scandals related to his dealings and eventually his sex life while delivering very little to benefit the regular people as they fell behind. GWB failed to stop 9/11 and then created a massive war where hundreds of thousands Iraqis were killed in ethnic cleansing, the number may even have topped a million, as the US disbanded their military and failed to ensure there were troops on the ground to prevent the subsequent revenge and recriminations. Obama, basically did fairly little, although he did manage to get a watered down version of the Heritage Foundation's health care plan enacted, but failed miserably to get the US out of Afghanistan. And then, we all remember what happened with Trump in 2016. The fact of the matter is that the Democrats don't care about what the results are because the consultants that make the decisions are paid either way, and there's never any punishment for failure the way that there is in the GOP.

The long-standing two-party system is a big problem. It automatically creates two opposing 'teams,' and boy, do people love feeling like they're part of a team. The fact that people will vote straight Red or Blue down a ballot without knowing a single thing about the candidates shows how entrenched this is. "I am on this team. And my team thinks this way. My team is opposite of your team. Therefore, we can't agree." Most political/social issues are complex and cannot be addressed using only Republican or Democrat 'principles.' The solutions are in the middle.
@mariahmier9313Ай бұрын
I agree with everything you said here except for the last bit about the solutions being in the middle. The two party system also has the consequence of creating false dichotomies on many issues and results in public discourse that doesn’t entertain alternative solutions outside of red team or blue team. There are so many problems that can be solved by simply looking outside of the two options presented. For example, replacing unfair taxes with Georgian land taxes has wide poll support across the red-blue divide and are only really opposed by the ultra wealthy who own absurdly enormous swaths of land. Land taxes don’t even get talked about at all when red-blue arguments about tariffs, sales tax, income tax, etc. come up to the point that most Americans have never even heard of them.
@scribblydoodle2924Ай бұрын
AMEN to that. If the Democratic party were not led by the President, we would have had a real primary and likely would have ended up with an entirely different candidate. While I think Harris is great, I know the lingering issues about a woman leading (especially when the world is on fire), and even then, she just got the ball too late in the game. Would like to see a system like Parlament in so many countries where 3rd party candidates are needed to get legislation passed. Seems to me it forces compromise.

I really hope some people on the 'all southern states are full of stupid people' train get to see the part about gerrymandering. That was one of the most concise ways I've seen to explain the subject. We aren't all ignorant, we're just divided and some are uninformed. Thank you for this video

Such smart, logical and democratic suggestions! It just makes sense. What a great base for a secondary schools, universities and library mandatory and free course for all citizens, giving them a certificate of civic knowledge, understanding, and trust. It would empower the youth becoming first time voters, newcomers, and all citizens of all social levels. I hope you get millions of supporters to help you put in place such program and see the election process a more structured, honest, ethical, equalizing right in the USA.

I just want to say that in addition to having safeguards against all of these problems, we also need methods to encourage better people to be in positions of power and also dismantle the two party system that is creating partisanship and polarization. I think we really need to focus very hard now on getting IRV.

Here’s the thing…we the people have to talk to each other about this stuff. Dr. Reich is giving us good information that is easy for us to synthesize and communicate to others. Now here’s the hard part…people on both sides need to exercise humility by actually talking with people from the opposite side. That is the actual problem to be solved.

We have a Country that listens to the media to tell them how to feel or who to hate, I know people who's lives were never effected by the Economy yet they would continue to complain about it, make it illegal for the media to lie and back up everything with facts ( I know this will never happen) it should be illegal for the media to be a major influence on a election by their lies and it shouldn't matter what side your on since none of us want to be lied to right, yet millions watched a Entertainment show that paid 780 million in one law suit for lying, was kicked out of the UK for Lying and believe everything they heard from the host who were giving there opinions of the news not the actual truth.
