Im not sure if you misread or got different information but the set up video and info on their website says that each motor is rated for 300lbs. Not each running board, each motor. Meaning 600lbs per running board because there are 2 motors per side.

On Rough Country’s web it says the weight limit is 660 lbs per side. FEATURES 6” all-season, lightweight, durable aluminum running board. Dual-motor technology delivers maximum power when deploying or retracting. Anti-slip surface provides a secure stepping area (textured coating) Integrated LED lights illuminate the board when deployed. Automatic ‘SAFE-STOP’ engages if blockage is detected. Interior bypass switch for manual override. Retracted running board protects rocker panel. 660 lb. weight capacity per side. Easy, no-drill installation. Tucks tight under Rocker Panel for a clean, in-line look.

Thanks for the video, was helpful. I installed mine a week ago. I found there are updated instructions on the RC website, that are a little bit better than the paper version they ship with the steps, but not much. All in I am guessing it was about an 8 hour install for me. Removing the trim of the B pillar was the worst part for me. I also decided to drill the pinch weld to hide the light wires, like the AMP instructions call out. That was a pain. In the end, I am extremely happy with the steps, and as long as they hold out anticipate it being one of the best upgrades I have invested in.

I would have put the magnet on the front passenger door, like you did the magnet on the rear passenger door. Even by the door hinge, and the magnet will always line up. Then you also don't have to fight the piler or have someone kick it/ step on it when getting out.

FYI, For the AMP steps - on the AT4X (or any refresh GM truck) in addition to the OBD II connection, there are two separate splices that must be made into a driver's side wiring harness (near the OBD port). I actually had to get AMP to send me some supplemental doc to verify which harness. They do supply high quality connectors to complete the splice, but it was something of a hassle because it's a super tight space and you are splicing into tiny wires in a crowded connector. Still like it better than that passenger side routing and magnets on the RCs. Anyway thanks for the vid.

Ouch, was unaware they had changed their connection. Certainly wouldn't be a fan of doing that, assuming it would have something to do with GM trying to lock us out basically. Agreed though, would still prefer that over the magnets though.

So my install was a breeze, wiring spoke for itself. Easy way to align magnets...place.the wired receiver, eyeball the magnet and use to tape to hold and test...then install 2 side tape. Biggest fight, was I decided to drill the pintch welds for the LED wiring. So far so good, l9ve the boards and they seem.high quality.

I’m not sure why so many if you are worried about how much weight the motors can handle. You’re not standing on them and having the motor lift you up into the truck. The brackets in the front and rear support your weight. In the down position the bracket stops on itself. The dual motors I didn’t see a reason to upgrade too, I just got the two motor amp set off amazon for $1569.00 for a 2024 ltz silverado. The big selling point for me was the magnets, not a fan of that and the on/off switch you just simply unplug the connector at the dlc on the amp set to prevent them from opening. Little fun fact, you never installed a 10mm or 13mm bolt, that was an 8mm bolt. Thread diameter dictates the size of the bolt not the head of the bolt. 👍🏻

They're shims and not washers. If they are round they are washers, if they are "C" shape they are shims. Washers go under bolts, shims go between two items to adjust fitment. Just FYI. If this is mentioned any other place on the comments, sorry I wasn't going to read through them all. :) With that said, good video!

I bought cheap Rough Country tonneau cover and floor mats for my 2021 ram 1500. both for less than $400 delivered. The tonneau cover is OK. for $200. Would seal better if it was an inch longer. They should change the seal design for the front and back by the tailgate so it seals better. I don't like the false marketing on weight rating per side on these. I'm probably going to go with an OEM kit for $1504 or the Amp ones for $1800. I like the idea of just having OEM version that plugs into the fuse box and works Ram Hardware and software. Seems like it would be a cleaner install wish the OEMs had dual motors.
