I like this one. Was going to get the QX7 for my micros and simulator. Will get this one instead as I like the Hall gimbals. Don't want to do any mods if I don't have to.

Thanks for the review. So let me sum up. It's an X7 plus M7 Gimbals, a case and the 3D printed protectors... TBS Crossfire = no change, Software = no change, but it comes in a Box. 😉 Would you recommend buying it for a reason I don't know yet?

Painless360 let's say, I pay 20$ more for the X7S bundle compared to the DIY bundle X7. The other thing is, I just bought a crossfire micro. There's no experience of modding the X7S yet... Or do you know more than me? Thanks for the answer

If you're looking at Crossfire then there is work to get it all working well with the Q X7.. I'll be covering that in the new Crossfire mini series starting soon. If you want Crossfire right now then get an X9D or TBS Tango. If you want a Q X7/X7S then you'll have to settle for running the module at a lower speed (you'll need OpenTX 2.2.1 for that), the LUA scripts for it for the Mini are not ready yet and if you want full speed then you'll need a hardware fix and get the soldering iron out.. Stay tuned..

Guys, I can confirm. X7S will not work with the TBS crossfire micro, you have to setup the inverter. There's also no beta firmware yet to use the software baudrate mod

Having just bought this radio, can I let you know that my Qx7s came with no battery, and no chargers either. This was bought from the official FrSky seller in the UK. So i feel rather let down as I had to buy 2 of 18650 batteries and a 18650 charger to go with them. And so far, I havent been able to bind to any FrSky receiver I possess, which is getting a little disheartening to say the least. Ill keep watching to see if anything can help. Cheers, Dave W 👍

@@Painless360 yes, i am a regular viewer. I have been subscribed for about 3 or 4 years, but ashamed to say, I went onto boats (2channel max), so only just got back into flying models again. Saw this looked a good radio, and treated myself. The first thing I'm told by everyone (including yourself) is to update the firmware, and here I am 😢 So, I'm currently trying to drag myself out of the mire to get flying again. Hey thanks a lot for the video on this transmitter. I saw it recently and I'm happy to have the option to buy it. I didn't realize the original QX7 had a rechargeable battery stock. What chemistry is the new battery?

bit off topic, can you please explain something to me, why can you see vbat voltage in betaflight on lizard 95 or other d8 receivers but can't discover voltage telemetry on taranis even though rssi works fine, thank you for your guidance

You need to have the relevant telemetry setup in the software you're using for the FrSky receiver. D series used 'traditional' telemetry and the newer X series use SmartPort. You can connect the telemetry pin on the receiver to a spare UART on the flight controller and configure that UART to output the right telemetry in software. See the Kopis 1 review where they did just that.. Hope that helps

It's actually a 16-32 channel radio if i remember correctly. The x7, x9, x10 etc are just the product name. Anyway, it's an amazing looking and feature packed radio. As much as I initally wanted one I just dont think it would be worth it for short range mini quads which is what I fly.

Issue is being addressed by the OTX team with a software solution.

+Rob B actually the fix is being addressed in the OpenTX çode and also in the Team Blacksheep firmware as well. What they're doing is reducing the baud rates to the Crossfire module to support the slow inverter that was fitted in the oriGINAL X7S radio. This is less than ideal. I think we'd all like to see if the new radio has a changed inverter that will allow it to run at full speed...

Exactly that, it is my understanding that it is a workaround not an actual fix. Now, if X7S plays along with TBS Crossfire then this would make it an even more desirable choice. Can't wait for your test Painless :) (BTW love the channel).

You can setup the QX7 with 16 channels, how many you get out at the dar end depends on the receiver(s) you're using.. Happy flying!

What is that S-port used for?

It's the two way protocol that FrSky radios use. It's on all but the cheapest X series receivers and on the radios too. There are lots of S.Port sensors you can attach to the receiver to get data from the model (speed, height, battery status, temperature etc.) On the radios it's mainly used for updating the firmware on things like the receivers.. I received this radio last week and love it. I was wondering if you have tried pairing this q x7s to bluetooth yet. When I try to pair it to my android device it says try 0000 or 1234 as a passcode to pair, Neither works for me. Can you let me know if you find out how to do this please.
