That's the best J-3 model I have ever seen. I made my first solo in a Cub in 1955 and your cockpit camera view is what it really looks like when you solo from the rear seat. My hats off to you, my friend.

Great flying with deft dancing of rudder on landing roll out, looks like full scale! Also great camera angles, use of 360 camera in cockpit and expertly edited. Who knew a simple cub could look so amazing!

Wunderschönes Modell! Ich hab mir auch schon deine Bauberichte zur Cub, ASK18 und dem Röhnsperber angesehen, allesamt beeindruckend. Ich helfe zur Zeit bei der Restaurierung eines Grunau Baby II mit und deine Bauweise für die Modelle ist praktisch "original". Sehr toll mit anzusehen! Natürlich kommen nun so "Wünsch ich mir" Gedanken auf, gerade bei der Piper Cub gibts ja tolle Super Cubs oder bei den Holzseglern die Minimoa oder Gö4, bei den moderneren die Ka-6 oder 8 ... gibts denn schon etwas zu verlauten, das als neues Projekt gestartet wird?

Vielen Dank :-) Ja, es gibt noch massenhaft Vorbilder die man bauen könnte. Ein neues Projekt ist in der engeren Wahl, und wenn´s losgeht, mache ich natürlich wieder einen Baubericht auf RCN.

Bin immer beeindruckt wenn jemand seine piper so schön starten kann .Habe schon die zweite auf dem gewissen .Fliege viel verschiedene Modelle grosse wie kleine. Aber die piper bekomme ich nicht in den griff.Wenn sie in der Luft ist dreht sie sich immer um die längs Achse nach links und muss viel querruder geben um das zu kompensieren .Kurven gehen auch nur nach links ,rechts rum muss ich sie immer zwingen mit dem max seitenruder was auch sehr eckig aussieht .Was sind deine Erfahrungen mit Motor Sturz und Seiten Zug? Bin langsam am verzweifeln.Meine Holizige Pc6 fliegt wie auf schienen .Gruss Tim

Moin Tim, das ist eigentlich ein sehr ungewöhnliches Flugverhalten für eine Piper. Ich kann mir das Drehen um die Längstachse nur mit einem Verzug der Tragflächen erklären. Meine hat ca. 2° Seitenzug und 1° Sturz. Beim Starten muß ich aber trotzdem etwas ins Seitenruder treten um sie auf Kurs zu halten. Ist aber gut zu beherrschen. In der Luft fliegt sie absolut eigenstabil geradeaus.

Hallo Roger, diese Piper ist eine Eigenkonstruktion und z.Zt ein Einzelstück. Ob ich die irgendwann mal in mein Sortiment aufnehme, ist noch nicht entschieden. Es gibt aber eine kleinere J3 von Paolo Severin, die auch als Bausatz zu kaufen ist. Grüße von Hamburg nach Quebec.

In late 60s we would go to Coker Aviation in GP and pay $15 for an hour rental and $12 for a licensed pilot to take off and land and we would fly the Cub. Excellent build but why not just build a real one????
