Wow! I'm invented exactly like this wingsail! My dream is make this boat and launch to weekly or monthly standalone journey. Can we talk a little about your project?

Fantastic video, and an even better idea! I'd love to see the finished project. But can I ask; what aerofoils are you using for the wing?!

Very good graphical presentation. Can you tell me the name of modelling software? I have looked at wind-propelled sailing craft with foils for the past 25yrs and built a 1/5 scale working model of a full sized craft using a bow foil and 2 foils either side at the stern. My computer model to calculate speed and performance, and radio controlled models, has led me to conclude that surface piercing foils are not the answer due to disturbances around the foils causing unsteady forces, cavitation, sometimes with disasterous results. I have concluded that only fully submerged horizontal foils are going to work reliably, using either a leading Hook float-sensor to control the foil incidence, or more sophisticated software using loads and a depth of immersion of the foil. Hook float sensors have worked very reliably however despite their rather unsophisticated appearance. Your comments on this would be very welcome.

White Eagle hey white eagle ! Are you talking about fluid mecanics simulation or CGI animation ? I used 3ds max as moddeling software to make this presentation. Well, i'm impressed with your work !

I would be very interested to know of any performance prediction modelling or software that you have used. I wrote a fairly straight forward program in basic to predict the aero and fluid dynamic lift and drag forces on the hulls and aerofoil, and ran this for a 30ft long T shaped craft (1 bow T foil and 2 stern T foils) through a range of angles to the true wind from 0 -180deg at different wind speeds. It calculated the performance speed, and gave me the the lift and side loads on the foils, side and lift forces on the aerofoil, and drag of different components and so-on, spray drag, form drag etc. I was able to experiment with different spacing between the stern foils this way to obtain an optimum beam Maximum performance came at about 25knts true wind speed. Above this the forces went exponential and out of control. The program was actually a fairly straight forward piece of code to write and a required no special skill in programming. It also showed that a downward force was necessary on the windward foil at certain wind angles or capsize resulted. Model testing with a 1/5th size model basically confirmed what the program predicted with several capsizes. The computer program took about 3 months of evenings to get to a reasonable level of performance, but a working radio-controlled model much longer, especially when something major had to be changed. All of this was aimed at building a full-sized craft for an attempt on the world speed record for a sailing craft which was being held in Weymouth Harbour, UK, near where I lived. I was looking for a speed of 45kts plus, then the world record, held by a bloody sail-board of all things! It is now above about 50kts (I think, will check) showing that you would need a very carefully designed and built craft. I lost interest a bit when I realised how much money would be needed to build your craft, and the number of times that it would crash and need to be rebuilt when approaching these sorts of speed. The wing alone could be smashed up and need a complete rebuild in one spectacular crash! Time, money, children all required me to shelve the project, tho I still have the model, in pieces!

White Eagle Wow ! It is the project of your life haha ! Well i'm affraid to disapoint you but we just worked 6 mounth on it with a very low budget of 100€ (yes, public university project you know). We made a feasibility study and layed the groundwork for the next school year wich won the first price by the way ! I could show you all the documents we made if you want and the usefull studies and websites that we found.
