So glad I found this channel. The whole realism thing and the patina on your rigs is a vibe. I’ve got a TF2 Marlin crawler coming my way and typically I’d be super anal about trying to keep something like that nice, but I also don’t think keeping them “nice” is realistic if that makes sense. I saw an early 80’s Hilux in Washington state that looks pretty similar to this rig. It certainly wasn’t shiny looking like it just rolled off the sales floor. So I’ll probably go out of my comfort zone and give the Marlin body some patina, because that’s pretty much how they look in the wild anyways

I don’t know if you have tried, but those bodies are thin enough to cut with lexan scissors. I also run one of the longer leaves on top of the main leaf, it helps with axle wrap.

It's amazing the lines you can get a TF2 to do if you put the GCM Scale Driveline in, chino mod the springs, and rearrange the spring leaves. I run some seriously hard lines with mine and don't have any problems. It's just a different style of driving. I prefer leaves, for sure. They're super predictable. THe A&M Garage parts are awesome to make it go even further, but I'm more about the scale than the all-out performance.

Would you be willing to walk me through some free mods for a lwb TF2 rtr Toyota Xtra cab
@rc-daily3 жыл бұрын
The a&m garage shackle flips works awesome. The performance you think you see with the stock parts must just be your imagination. When you pull into a rock the axle automatically wants to push backwards. With the tf2 shackles up front it the axle HAS to move forward for it to flex at all. It's why the real Toyotas have the shackle in the rear. Hit a curb or rock the axle is able to move backwards and let the suspension actually work.
@rc-daily3 жыл бұрын
@Steve Vento why so sour? When you start paying for my rc stuff I might consider your input. Until then, I'll keep doing things my own way. I might put capra axles on it just to make the guys like you cringe! 😂😂😂

I have been able to get flex on the tf2, with the following mods: Bowhouse rear leaf pirches Z-blocks front and rear Chino mod front and rear Wild boar driveshafts front and rear due to droop out Longer shocks required for droop and to actually limit droop front and rear. I think I used 100 mm rear and 90mm front. Also Geolande shock towers up front to adjust upwards and downwards travel. As mentioned I notched the front bumper mount.

I believe that's one of the major reasons why a box stock tf2 has little to no the axle basically gets locked into place when crawling. I ended up 3-4 linking mine. It's like an scx10 now. It works flawlessly.
@rc-daily3 жыл бұрын
@Steve Vento unfortunately you're dead right about it not being a performer... I also own a pile of axials and traxxas crawlers as well as a few others. I'm actually fairly pleased with it now though. 2500kv revolver snub nose, micro x, castle bec, 3-4 linked. It works out ok now

Your projects always impress, feel like the issues your addressing are strange for this caliber and popularity of the truck seems to be lacking in basic setup?
@RCeveryday3 жыл бұрын
Most of these issues are caused from me trying to make it sit lower at a more scale height. They work out of the box just doesn’t look as scale as it can in my opinion.

Hey I'd love to know, can you put metal axles on a trail finder? Love the trucks, but not fond of yota axles, I think it would be awesome, to have some steel on the chassis!
@RCeveryday2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t seen any steel axles. Most all of Rc4wd axles are cast aluminum. If there are they would fit as long as they have 2 screw mounts like most axles have.

Great content! Question on Yoda 2 axles, having issues with adding rc4wd cvd in front that were in my Yoda 1 axles - but don't seem to work as they just bind up, seem a little too long. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@RCeveryday2 жыл бұрын
I havent tried the yota 1 shafts in the yota 2 axles. Back in a video on my blazer I had countless comments saying it would work and the cvd's were the same from 1 to 2. The only real difference in the 2 axles (other than looks) that I have noticed is the 2's have more caster in the knuckle. Not sure if that could cause them to bind.
@gmummy2 жыл бұрын
@@RCeveryday Thanks for the input, maybe the caster is the issue. May try to grind the tang down a hair..

Hey bro, I just got my first RC4WD trail finder 2. RTR. I have been trying to get my remote trims all set. But I have noticed no matter what I do it has the ability to drive faster in reverse. Is that a normal thing? I know it was 3 modes I can select by setting the pin in the ESC. Even in race mode it wants to go in reverse. Can I make it go faster in forward? Please and thank you in advance.

Sounds like the motor wires are backwards. Switch them and reverse the throttle on the radio. Should fix it.

RC4wd seems to have gotten most of the details right except for the headlights. They DO NOT look like those from the 1982 Hilux. The real one has a more deep-set look, with a slight curvature to the square lens.
