RCA Victor sold thousands of these radios as they were used with the RCA 45 RPM changers and worked beautifully, especially for an American "Five Tuber".

Bought a working one yesterday, in as good or better shape than the one here, for $61 at an antique mall. Had to have it.

This All American 5 tube radio has a much larger speaker than is the case with such radios. The Dial Pointer is generally painted white (as is the case on this one), but I have seen one that was red. The RCA Victor 45 RPM turntable came out the same year (1949) that this radio was sold to the public and they can be seen in many advertisements of the time. It would be a good idea to replace all the capacitors and check for weak tubes just to be on the safe side as this is now a 70 year old radio and damage could occur if something needs to be changed out and replaces. It definitely needs new capacitors even though working well now. The RCA Jack was originally just used as a phono jack but today can be used with many of the modern devices such as Walkman's and Cell phones, as they have FM on them even FM can now be heard on this radio if you have a hook-up line for the RCA Jack.

From 1949 and one of the most popular selling radios RCA Victor ever made. It was very popular with the 45 changers which came out in April of 1949. Careful with it though as it is fragile and the Bakelite can crack easily and the front grills are also fragile and can be broken easily if not handled with care.

In Southern California there are many, many very good AM Stations. KFI AM out of Los Angeles is one of the oldest in the Nation as is KNX AM and KIRO AM out of Seattle. KTIE AM out of San Bernardino is also very popular these days. No shortage of AM in California. 80% of all people get their information from radio these days, probably not much difference from years back. You can hook up a Sony Walkman to this on the RCA Jack and listen to FM Station if you want to. Having the RCA Jack opens up a whole bunch of possibilities. KUSC FM is the local Classical Music Station out of Los Angeles. It is on the FM dial.

I just bought one of these. ($100.oo) It’s not perfect but it has been “serviced “. Works well. (I don’t [yet] work on any radios) QUESTION: Can I use this “Phono “ jack for smartphone [with the right adapters]❓❓

Yes you can, I have a few that I play my smart phone through, just go through the wiring make sure its ok, and yes you can play music through the phono with a smart phone
