All that technology for just $160 US. Mind boggling. I am old enough to remember prices for rc helicopters in the 1980ies. What a difference. Another well done video, John. Thank you.

Yeah, 160 bucks wouldn't cover a good set of blades and a boom back then!

@@sed6 Yes, you are absolutely right. I do remember a set of wooden rotor blades for a Kalt Baron 60 cost $50 in 1982. In todays money that is $150. Hard to believe for younger folks today.

We are so spoiled in RC today, and people will still complain that various products are "overpriced". I'm a big user of 1.7g servos (about $4) which wouldn't even be in a lab at MIT back in the day.

I remember when only those who had building skills were flying and the rest were spectators. Now everyone with a credit card say that he is a modelist. Dangerous people, accidents, governments rules, death of rc modelism. I am happy that I lived the last years of pure modelism.

Good day John salt, just wanted to share a note thanking you very much for sharing your enthusiastic video concerning the E-Sky 300 V2 RTF RC Helicopter. Your attention to detail & friendly presentation made it simple for me to follow and learn a few things of which I am appreciative and grateful for. This product is a good find and it is nice to see some fun quality features here. Although off topic for this video but encompassing your channel, I have also enjoyed your 3D printed R2 project for the same reasons. Wishing you all the best for you & your channel from the Cape of Good Hope peninsula SA

Interestingly, my kalt enforcer .30zr also had a hollow mast thru which the collective pitch mechanism was routed. Plus, the entire main gear system was fully enclosed in a plastic body. One negative of this was that there was extra drag from all those gears inside thus reducing power and the hollow mast didn't provide as much pitch as on conventional helis.

Back in '93 when I was getting into rc helis, if someone would have showed me this micro heli and said it was flyable, I would have told him he was nuts! The closest thing we had back then was kyosho concept 10 heli and that was orders of magnitude larger in size. It's incredible how everything shrunk down in size to allow this to happen. Simply incredible.

Really helpful video. I got mine and it looks and flies great. Beware that the mx 2.0 plug on other batteries usually have reversed polarity. Someone on the forums said they smoked the main board because of this. My new 300 v2 has a warning to only use genuine Esky batteries. Batteries are about impossible to find right now. Esky said they need a US and European distributor and the delivery airline is still down from the pandemic.

I took that thing apart and put it in a 1/35 scale hh-65 it flys but not without modifying the blades so it can get more lift also did it with a ah-1z i wish they had a motor upgrade for these so it could be brushless or if it had the gearbox of the yellow eflite brushed helicopter but then it wouldn't fit so clean, it would be nice if they would make mechanics that are intended for any 1/35 model helicopter mice size and not to big, it would be nice!

@Patrik - Mostly timing. If I would have done the teardown first, it would have been pretty dark out not to mention this is a mechanically simple fixed pitch heli and is not as critical if something is not put together at the factory correctly like it is on a collective pitch helicopter. 🙂

@@RchelicopterfunI always learn a thing or two when I watch a John Salt video, thanks. If you have a minute and don't mind. I'd like to ask you 2 quick questions. 1. Do you fly full scale helicopters too? 2. What part of the country do you live in? I just noticed the mountains in the background in this video. They're beautiful, and don't seem to far away from you. I'm a mountain guy myself, have been all my life. Best state I ever lived in was Montana. How was I suppose to know you were referencing transmitter mode instead of heli stabilization mode? That is not what you asked in your question. You specifically stated "this help has two modes" (I presumed you meant heli). So your actual question is how do you switch from mode 2 to mode 1 on the radio/transmitter. Answer - you can't. The model comes with either a mode 1 or mode 2 radio. If it was selectable, that option would not be available.

I can't think of any fixed pitch micro heli currently on the market that use a brushless motor. There might be a couple, but I certainly haven't run across them. A fixed pitch micro doesn't need the power so why add the extra weight, complexity, and cost would be my guess as to why they are not used. I of course didn't design the thing, so I'm the wrong person to ask. 😄

Hello friend, I would like to know if you can help me with a problem with this e-sky 300 v2 model. I bought it and it arrived a couple of days ago, today I was going to fly it for the first time but before raising it I did some tests in stationary mode to make sure everything was working correctly. Unfortunately there is a problem with its tail rotor. Practically everything works but when I move the power or gas stick to the right the tail rotor stops, if I leave the stick in the center the rotor rotates without problem and maintains its stability, if I move the stick to the left the rotor works and It increases its speed to be able to rotate on its own axis to the left. . . but when I move it to the right the tail rotor stops (engine) even the red light on its rudder also goes off. . . I am trying to get the seller to give me a solution but I am afraid that they will act misunderstanding and not solve my problem. The truth is that I am very distressed because the value of this helicopter is not cheap and I have not even made a first flight. Do you know why this problem with the rotor may be occurring? How could it be solved so that it works correctly? I will leave you a link with a video that I uploaded so you can appreciate what I mean. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jojUqYOJipllbLM I hope you can help me, I will really be very grateful :( Greetings.
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 4 ай бұрын
That is 100% totally normal tail rotor operation. The tail rotor all on all these small motor driven tail rotor helicopters only spin in one direction to create enough anti-torque thrust to counter main rotor torque. They will not reverse direction to yaw the helicopter when given a full right command since the main rotor torque will yaw the heli right. Since you have never flown it, you have never experienced that it actually works correctly while airborne. This is covered in detail on my website on tail rotor / anti-torque function: www.rchelicopterfun.com/rc-helicopter-rudder.html

@Elpapi Grande - best to contact the vendor directly at time of purchase. There are no packs listed at this time as far as I know because it's such a new model.

@@Rchelicopterfun Got ya. Thank you. I found it weird that the seller told me that it would be delivered to me in two packages because the battery can’t be shipped with the helicopter because of shipping guidelines. Very weird

@@elpapigrande4035 Normally, at least in the US, all air shipped lithium batteries must be transported "Installed" in the device. Ground shipping it doesn't matter.

What’s the altitude ceiling on a heli like that?
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 3 жыл бұрын
As far as you can see it in order to control it is the range & height. For most people because of the small size, that means around 30M/100feet maximum.

Can they just get it over with and license the appropriate IP for an Airwolf edition?
@paulreeder5241

Licensing is quite expensive. It would cost a lot more for the heli. Also, the license needs to keep being renewed.

If you can see it, you can fly it. You'll lose practical line of sight visual range before RF range.

Thanks for the review. Does it bind with the RadioMaster built in 4-in-1 module like the ESky F150 does?

Great in depth video. Can I ask when you say not begginer friendly I've Flown fixed wing and have alot of drone air hours so am aware of the basic coordination and thought rather than buying an altitude hold e130 this would be a better introduction for me before moving up. Once again great video thanks.

@Richard C - I cover this question in detail on my website. These two pages specifically: www.rchelicopterfun.com/best-rc-helicopter.html www.rchelicopterfun.com/are-rc-helicopters-hard-to-fly.html As those two pages point out - it totally depends how deep you want to jump into helis when getting started. Fixed wing time doesn't relate at all to heli flight with the exception of banking turns at speed. Quad copter time gives the same basic movements, but they are so easy to fly (especially the GPS ones) compared to a typical RC heli which is a constant balancing act. No question however quad time will help with the basics. Anything with a fuselage should be avoided however for your first introduction to helis - they only complicate things, are more fragile & add extra weight. As I said in the video and if you take the time to study those pages on my website - always better to first learn on pod & boom regardless if it's fixed pitch or collective pitch (my opinion as an RC heli instructor & enthusiast).

Blade sizing is the norm most manufactures are going with now. Blades' 330 for example is the same size as their old 450 (it's spinning 325mm rotors. 500 size helis spin 500mm rotors, 600 size spin 600mm rotors and so on. Blade sizing is the only way to make proper apples to apples comparisons over marketing numbers that make no sense.

@@Rchelicopterfun yeah i agree, it makes more sense like that, to be honest i have no idea why a 450 size heli is called a 450
