All that technology for just $160 US. Mind boggling. I am old enough to remember prices for rc helicopters in the 1980ies. What a difference. Another well done video, John. Thank you.

Yeah, 160 bucks wouldn't cover a good set of blades and a boom back then!

@@sed6 Yes, you are absolutely right. I do remember a set of wooden rotor blades for a Kalt Baron 60 cost $50 in 1982. In todays money that is $150. Hard to believe for younger folks today.

We are so spoiled in RC today, and people will still complain that various products are "overpriced". I'm a big user of 1.7g servos (about $4) which wouldn't even be in a lab at MIT back in the day.

I remember when only those who had building skills were flying and the rest were spectators. Now everyone with a credit card say that he is a modelist. Dangerous people, accidents, governments rules, death of rc modelism. I am happy that I lived the last years of pure modelism.

Good day John salt, just wanted to share a note thanking you very much for sharing your enthusiastic video concerning the E-Sky 300 V2 RTF RC Helicopter. Your attention to detail & friendly presentation made it simple for me to follow and learn a few things of which I am appreciative and grateful for. This product is a good find and it is nice to see some fun quality features here. Although off topic for this video but encompassing your channel, I have also enjoyed your 3D printed R2 project for the same reasons. Wishing you all the best for you & your channel from the Cape of Good Hope peninsula SA

Back in '93 when I was getting into rc helis, if someone would have showed me this micro heli and said it was flyable, I would have told him he was nuts! The closest thing we had back then was kyosho concept 10 heli and that was orders of magnitude larger in size. It's incredible how everything shrunk down in size to allow this to happen. Simply incredible.

Interestingly, my kalt enforcer .30zr also had a hollow mast thru which the collective pitch mechanism was routed. Plus, the entire main gear system was fully enclosed in a plastic body. One negative of this was that there was extra drag from all those gears inside thus reducing power and the hollow mast didn't provide as much pitch as on conventional helis.

Really helpful video. I got mine and it looks and flies great. Beware that the mx 2.0 plug on other batteries usually have reversed polarity. Someone on the forums said they smoked the main board because of this. My new 300 v2 has a warning to only use genuine Esky batteries. Batteries are about impossible to find right now. Esky said they need a US and European distributor and the delivery airline is still down from the pandemic.

I took that thing apart and put it in a 1/35 scale hh-65 it flys but not without modifying the blades so it can get more lift also did it with a ah-1z i wish they had a motor upgrade for these so it could be brushless or if it had the gearbox of the yellow eflite brushed helicopter but then it wouldn't fit so clean, it would be nice if they would make mechanics that are intended for any 1/35 model helicopter mice size and not to big, it would be nice!

@Rchelicopterfun2 жыл бұрын
@Patrik - Mostly timing. If I would have done the teardown first, it would have been pretty dark out not to mention this is a mechanically simple fixed pitch heli and is not as critical if something is not put together at the factory correctly like it is on a collective pitch helicopter. 🙂

@@RchelicopterfunI always learn a thing or two when I watch a John Salt video, thanks. If you have a minute and don't mind. I'd like to ask you 2 quick questions. 1. Do you fly full scale helicopters too? 2. What part of the country do you live in? I just noticed the mountains in the background in this video. They're beautiful, and don't seem to far away from you. I'm a mountain guy myself, have been all my life. Best state I ever lived in was Montana. The only problem I had was that it was windy almost every single day. Cuts into your RC flight time :-)

If compare Blade 120S and Blade 150FX - which one better to buy? Why? Thanks
@Rchelicopterfun Жыл бұрын
If you already have a Spektrum transmitter, then the 120S BNF make the most sense because it uses DSM protocol so you could bind it to your existing radio. It's also a little more beginner friendly than the 150FX. The 150FX uses Esky's protocol so can't be bound to a Spektrum Radio. It is more performance minded than the 120S.
@933pilgrim Жыл бұрын

Great in depth video. Can I ask when you say not begginer friendly I've Flown fixed wing and have alot of drone air hours so am aware of the basic coordination and thought rather than buying an altitude hold e130 this would be a better introduction for me before moving up. Once again great video thanks.
@Rchelicopterfun3 жыл бұрын
@Richard C - I cover this question in detail on my website. These two pages specifically: www.rchelicopterfun.com/best-rc-helicopter.html www.rchelicopterfun.com/are-rc-helicopters-hard-to-fly.html As those two pages point out - it totally depends how deep you want to jump into helis when getting started. Fixed wing time doesn't relate at all to heli flight with the exception of banking turns at speed. Quad copter time gives the same basic movements, but they are so easy to fly (especially the GPS ones) compared to a typical RC heli which is a constant balancing act. No question however quad time will help with the basics. Anything with a fuselage should be avoided however for your first introduction to helis - they only complicate things, are more fragile & add extra weight. As I said in the video and if you take the time to study those pages on my website - always better to first learn on pod & boom regardless if it's fixed pitch or collective pitch (my opinion as an RC heli instructor & enthusiast).
