Great tips! Sound design can be so much fun, I always record interesting things I hear in the environment with my little h1n and it can add so much texture. So many layers, so much to do...

I love that you can approach KZbin style with a film school background. It’s an awesome perspective. I’ll be sharing this one with my students for sure.

STEMS! stems from epidemic are huge. I think touching base on that again would be super beneficial to noobs. Just the creativity to play with your sound is huge. You can’t do stems on free KZbin music but you can cut apart the music and make it fit. Watching you transition to your new style has been deeply rewarding and inspiring. Thanks for sharing!

great video bro beans. Just wanted to recap on the homeless shelter thing from a few videos ago. A few weeks ago I was going through my work camper after letting some family members stay in it through some rough time. I figured it was time to get some new bedding, pillows, and blankets. So I took 6 blankets, 8 pillows, and 4 bed sheet sets to a laundry mat to have them cleaned. Once cleaned, I called my local homeless shelter and they were ECSTATIC to receive all these things. It was right after Christmas and the eyes of the people staying there lit up when I opened the bed of my truck. They were so thankful. It made my heart warm. I didn't do this for gratification though. I actually forgot about your video, but there was this inner guidance that let me go this route, and after doing so, I remembered your video. I was like, "damn, Cody is in my head" Thanks for all that you do, great video. Keep the higher production quality coming!

You don’t always need to dip the music, but use natural dips in the piece. You should also treat “sound” as a full stage and realize the human voice can occupy different spaces than instruments, both in 3 dimensions and in frequency. People refer to this as whether the voice is cutting through. Also putting compression on the voice helps sweeten this aspect.
@joshualeefyi6 жыл бұрын
I would absolutely love to see this more Cody something that I gained value from like Gary V says

Sound design is a brutal one. Its the one thing I think may of us struggle with. I personally don't even think about it. A habit I'm trying to break
@ThisIsTechToday6 жыл бұрын
Looking fresh, dude! Great tips! I'm going to have to VLOG more in the future 😉
@LillySchwartz5 жыл бұрын
I‘ve got another one: When you plan on speaking over louder music, make a frequency dip in the voice range. Basically in the parametric equaliser, just lower a wide range at 1500 in the music and your voice will have a range to be heard more clearly.

I haven't watched one of your videos before, but I wanted to say that I love the way you present yourself and the feel of your video. Plus, the tips were great. I've always struggled with sound design, but now that I have a new microphone that records to an SD card rather than my camera, I'll have to see about recording more sounds. I always dip the music at the end of my cinematic sequences in my short films/my vlogs, so I'll have to try doing it the way you've suggested! Thank you
