This is the rcvideoreviews.com power and thrust test of the Sunnysky x2216 1250Kv v3 Brushless motor.
I don't know what's going on over at Sunnysky, but there is some magic in these little 70g motors. Power development is stunning.

This videos are awesome. Most newbies like myself probably don't have the setup (and knowledge) to do this these types of tests when we first get into the hobby. Then one day they crash their model or something just breaks/burns up. They go looking for a replacement motor.......opps not available. Then they are like, what else might work so they go off trying to find a replacement motor but don't know how the motors compare even though they motors look similar in terms of size and kv.

Glad to help. Sadly, these videos never got much traction so I rarely do these tests for the channel anymore. There simply weren't enough views to justify the work I put into them. Anyway, there are a lot of "Judge" videos on the channel if you want to watch more of them and learn some of the evaluation techniques I used to assess motors.

As always a great interesting video !!! I'm a massive fan of sunnysky motors , for me currently they're the pinical ....... I'm wandering if the small machined scallops are to help dissapate heat since it's not far from the bearing ..... Thankyou for the closing time bloopers !!!😁😉😎

Would be great if you had done a couple of stepped throttle positions, say 300grs thrust as that could be a long range cruise setting on a wing and 500gs etc etc......

Can this motor be used for rc boat prop application? The prop is like 25cm in diameter, I'm not looking for a fast boat just one that goes from point a to b without getting bogged down too much

You have to figure out what your load in amperage will be and compare it to the motor specifications to see if it can handle the amperage you intend to load.

Thanks for another interesting video. I was looking for a motor that had as an example a 28/32 putting out 220 watts. This looks even better , but why the difference in labeling? I guess I need to look at what output i need and work back from there. My suggested was a pretty poor one from the World Models-KM28321030. This looks to be a much better option for my old Sunrise EP.

This is Sunnysky's v3 line. It is a beast of a motor. Watch some of the Hummer videos and you can see this motor launch the Hummer like a rocket from a hover. I'm gobsmacked at how good this little motor is.

Many thanks for your magnificent video tests. On the basis of which I bought a SK x2220 v3 1400kV: a great motor. Do you know how to mount a prop on the axis instead of mounting it on the adapter that is in the box?
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't looked closely at this motor, but they generally have one or more grub screws holding the housing in place on the shaft. If you release those grub screws it's not too hard to press the shaft so that it protrudes out the other end of the motor. Then just tighten the grub screws again. Be aware you may have to install c-clips to keep the shaft from pulling out under power.

Would a 10 x 4.7 APC slow fly prop with a 40A ESC on a ~1.5lb plane work? Their site recommends a 40A ESC, but shows 42 A max current draw. Thanks!

@@RCVideoReviews Thanks so much for the reply. Wasn't expecting it on a 2 year old post. I agree. I think I'll go with the 1100 KV to reduce the amps and heat. Thanks again!

@@MikeWedding I run my Hobbywing 40A platinum ESC on this motor (1400kv version) with a 10x5 3s and pull 55A. They are rated for 60A for 30 secs. If your model is light and the ESC has an ok amount of air it shouldn't be an issue. Using a non name brand 40A could be a different story though.

I'm aware of them. In the countless number of searches I've made for brushless motors they never showed up on my radar. I've been able to meet my needs with Sunnysky V3 or Cobra for about 99% of what I fly.

Very nice motor. I wonder how it would do with a 10×5 reg. prop? Is the heat going to be detrimental for it's longevity, or is it designed that way? I was wondering, how are you liking the Brew. Buffalo? AirHammer out!!
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 4 жыл бұрын
I think 9x6 and 10x5 will wind up very close in terms of demand and amperage. I am a little concerned about the heat and will be monitoring that situation. I need to take the Buffalo out again soon. It’s a fun little fast plane. So far so good.

Love your video. Thanks a lot for it. Based on your experience, how hot does it get with the 10x4.7 prop for continuous usage? And what would be the safe prop to use? (I mainly plan on using it for 3D) Your advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Can you get a couple of standoffs? Or even a few washers under the cross mount? I don't know how this would fit without measuring. But don't be afraid of standoffs.

@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 2 жыл бұрын
That's not quite the way it works. 2400kv will spin faster, but you'll need a smaller prop. So it will likely lose power but gain speed.
