You've pointed out some excellent improvements. I've built a few of these EPP planes over the years and always end up adding extra carbon fiber flat stock, especially a 1/2" back from the trailing edges of the control surfaces. Start by throwing the directions in the garbage. If you're not in a hurry I've been using clear Gorilla glue, strong and stays somewhat flexible. Also GG won't hurt EPO.
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I love that Gorilla glue. I've built about 7 EPP planes and used CA on all of them (and Gorilla, Welders, and a couple of others). I'm going to maiden it as-is since it's a review channel. After that I'm sure I'll be shoring some of those surfaces up some. Appreciate the tips! Keep them coming.

I've had the Hummer for a while and was out flying it today to drain a 3000mAh 4S. Was pretty windy so the combination was a bit of a handful. My elevator hinge had ripped loose previously so it was reattached with Foam Tac. Decent 3D plane for $35 and when kept light.

Good tips on this plane. By the way 502 is lo time CA glue, just for your future reference. They should say CA glue, but I guess they assume people know that.
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
Wait, is lo time the same as thin? Or is that just a reference to the CA glue we generally use on RC planes? Thin, Medium, Thick? Does it matter?
@DavidReynolds-kr6yh4 жыл бұрын
RC Video Reviews , sorry I should have auto checked my writing lol. 502 is loctite brand cyanoacrylate glue, just their normal thin CA glue, my bad lol.

Suggestion for the floppy rudder. Insert two CF or FG rods in an L shape. For reference, look at the HK Yak 55 or HK Wargo Yak. Amazing stiffness with little weight.

Thanks! I'm about to build it soon, I can see what all of the wood pieces are for, with exception of 4 of the larger ones (all 4 identical)..they are not for landing gear, servo mounts, or pushrod mounts. they are sort of trapezoidal, with oval cut outs in the middle. Not sure if this makes sense? sorry, that's best I can explain without a pic. looks like its going to be pretty easy build, better than the value hobby profile plane I built- it worked, but also sad instructions, and a real pain to press through on my own. Your video does a great job explaining- thanks!!e

I had the same thought about reinforcing the rudder, so far the floppy control surfaces hasn’t bothered me. My electronics were also placed using a “try to make the wires neat” philosophy.I also placed everything on one side & the battery on the other. We probably read the same things regarding the CG. The instructions from HK are best described as “Vague”. Did you use the supplied rudder hinges? I used 2 x proper nylon hinges instead. I will be watching for any modifications, that I could copy.
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
I did use the paper hinges. Are you flying with CG on the spar? I'll fly it as is before deciding on reinforcements.
@koalatails63914 жыл бұрын
RC Video Reviews. Yes, my CG is on the spar. It probably needs the CG back a little to “harrier”, or it could be my lack of skill & confidence. I am pushing the limits of my skill with the hummer. Hopefully you will show me the further capabilities of this plane.
@koalatails63914 жыл бұрын
This weekend I will push myself to try higher rates. I have 3 sets programmed in my TX, & feel comfortable now, using only the mid rates. Ailerons 80%, elevator & rudder 70%, with about 35% expo.
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
@@koalatails6391 I flew it today. CG m-u-s-t g-o b-a-c-k. If you go to high rates move your expo up some. I think after flying this one today, I may lower my expo from 70% down to 50% on Ailerons and Elevator.

Let's get tongue tied and twisted!😄 Very nice tips on the build. Thin CA is the only glue used?? Yes, I'd say it's very over powered. Do you think the motor heat will melt anything? Nice video. AirHammer out!!
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
I used thick CA on: - Wing halves - Wing and horizontal stab/elevator to fuse - Red fuselage reinforcing pieces - Servo plates - Control horn load spreaders I used thin on: - Rudder hinges - All fiberglass spars - Landing gear mount - Firewall The wing halves also got contact cement. I'm not worried about the motor heat. It's got a little hot to touch but moving air is a great insulator.

Your right instructions sucked. How did you get the assembled and glued wing to pass through the fuselage ? I couldn't had to glue wing halves together while passing through the fuselage otherwise the ailerons would have to be removed.
