Removing the .exe (installation) now from steam deletes the folder. So you need to just hide this exe now in steam.

The problem I have is that if I remove the launcher installer it also removes the installed files, so I have now hidden the game instead..

Not sure why but rockstar launcher and RDR keeps on deleteting by itself. I was able to run it one time in desktop mode went back to gaming mode and launcher was gone. went againt to desktop mode but files are not their anymore

Would this still work for playing RDR2 on the deck if you were to just add a non-steam game to your library by just grabbing the game .exe from the program folder on your desktop PC, then going to install it from your library back on the deck?

I have been trying to play this game on the deck but I cannot get it to work for the death of me. I installed the latest proton which was 8-25 but when I add the launcher installer to steam and force compatibility, I don't see a 8-25, the latest I see is 8.04, so I put it on experimental and launched it, it downloaded some files and that's it, nothing happens anymore. I couldn't install the launcher. Can anyone please help me out here.

hey... is there any way you can play this game in offline mode? i will be on vacation in a few weeks and i wanted to play this game during the flight with no wifi, but when i try to start it at home without a connection it wont even start the rockstar launcher.

I have not found a workaround for this as I was just on the road. Best suggestion would be to use a wifi hotstpot if possible.

I was able to play this game a week ago But for some reason it wouldn't launch...I tried your method and unfortunately it said rockstar launcher isn't available in my area I am in the US...do you have a solution by chance ?

I would need a bit more information. Are you connected to the internet? Best course of action would be to uninstall it and re install it.

i know the steam version running on gaming mode has better performance than desktop mode due the gameboost and shader cache... do these still apply even though youre running it through the rockstar launcher in gaming mode? Im a PC newbie... my ps5 has been a $500 paperweight since i got my deck :)

Yes it will run better in gaming mode due to what you mentioned. The steam version also works through the launcher.

Installing GTA V with R* launcher is simple. Just install the launcher and game. No extra steps needed like the ones in this video.

With this method, does it matter if you have both epic games and steam versions of these titles? Still new to this and I would like to use one launcher for rockstar titles. If you don’t know the answer that’s fine I’m just trying to see if that is possible. Cheers!

I only own the Rockstar games launcher version, so my knowledge on other launchers is currently limited. If you have a Steam copy of rdr2 you can play it right out of the box without any setup along with any Rockstar games title listed on Steam. Epic games version will also require some setup. My suggestion would be to purchase the games through steam if you can, as that will reduce any setup required.
