To me, the Strange Man is just what he says; an accountant. John's lived a bad life, but seeks redemption, and the Strange Man is there to decide which book he should be written into, so to speak. He never encourages or discourages John's good or bad actions, rather just saying that they're options he could choose. I think this is simply because he wants him to choose a side, and once he's done so, he leaves, not condemning or exalting him in any form

I honestly think he’s Trelawny. “I seem to know you.” “You’ve forgotten far more important people than me” and Trelawny was a magician so he was able to dodge bullets and in the rdr2 universe magicians are op so it’s possible. “I hope my boy turns out just like you” he’s not death, he’s gave life and Trelawny actually has a family he keeps secret, that’s why he’s away all the time, look it up. He’s an accountant like Trelawny, he knows him from the past and all over like being on the run as an outlaw too.

We have been theorizing about the true identity of this man for so long, that we basically have consumed all the knowledge we could discover (well, more like coming to an end with coming up with other theories about him to be honest, since we didn't learn much at all.). So, I think, now it's time to theorize about this man's son. The problem is, we have almost nothing to work with for that, aside from the stranger man making clear that he has a son.

And from what we can theorize, if this man is the God himself on how he appears in the Red Dead Redemption universe, then it would mean he is likely referring to Lucifer, the first archangel, the bringer and fallen angel. If this man is the Devil, Satan or in this case Lucifer himself, then it could be that he is referring to Helel, son of the Lucifer. But if this man is the personafication of the Death itself/or himself in this case in Red Dead Redemption universe, which is the very likely what most of the Red Dead Redemption fans agree on, including me... Then I don't have any slightest idea on who might be Death's son or what it would look like for that matter, as I'm not even sure if the Death would or could have any children in the first place.
