I noticed Arthur and John have different observations when viewing these sights. When they see the meteor Arthur says it’s a rock that fell from the heavens, while John actually knows it’s a meteor and says how he’s glad it didn’t land on him. It seems John is more descriptive and gives more comments, while Arthur gives better drawings but less words.

I don't remember the game mentioning it, but I do know that he said something like "being back in this country with Arthur's journal makes me want to write again" or something like that. Did you watch the video though? His drawing actually got pretty good, I don't know the order is randomized, but it looks like his drawing went from a doodle to a solid drawing, he just needs to work on his textures and shading a bit more, but even without those, it's a good sketch nonetheless.

From this comparison, we can see the differences not only in drawing quality, but also writting. Arthur is a more spiritual, artistic and poetic, while John is more practical and focused. For example, Arthur calls the meteor "a rock from heavens" and John calls it what it is, a meteor. I think the quality of the drawing not only tells us who is more skilled, but also who cares more about it. Arthur takes his time drawing because he wants to remember the beauty of what he saw, while John makes a quick and undetailed one just to highlight the important and basic stuff

It's kinda strange that John even considers drawing. Arthur is an artistic soul, he writes, he is drawing. John is more descriptive, he is not into writing, but he is more observant. The crooked tree is a great example of this: John makes a lot of mistakes that newer artists do. Arthur uses shading to create shapes and uses a lot of the page so he can flesh them out. John's is based more on trying to make an outline of the tree, and since that's fairly difficult he uses a lot less of the page to make it easier.
