My 49 year old father was starting to play this game with me guiding him through. He said he wanted to get the best horse in the game so I told him to go up to where this horse lives, he couldn’t quite do it so he gave it to me. I was struggling a bit and It took me about half an hour. I finally got it and my dad was really happy... He accidentally blew it up in chapter 3 brilliant.

Tip: if youve spent more than like 30 mins in the area and havent found it, you probably spooked it and made it despawn without knowing. Leave for a couple days and come back to the spot. Worked like a charm for me

Went to lake Isabella trying to find a male Moose for the Antlers, found the White Arabian instead, managed to tame her, and when I got back with her to get my other horse, a 3 star male Moose was just there waiting for me, all this in the first time going there, lucky day! Named her Isabella.

Good explanation, tamed it in a minute without over exaggerating. As the man says, keep looking at the horse all the way until you mount it, call it the first time, keep walking up until it gets frightened then stop for a sec and calm it, you can keep on walking up to it as soon as you calm it. When you mount it just tame it by countering its movement. Thank you for the vid, I finally got my Arabian!

If you want to horse to re-spawned, stay a night at the valentine hotel, then go back. The horse should be there on the left side of the lake. That worked for me.

This video guide is exhilarating to watch and listen to. I like the calm Southern twang of Greywitch fitting perfectly with the vivid descriptions of what needs to be done to gently tame this beast. My suggestion to new players is get this horse ASAP. Makes traversing the map that much faster, getaways less of a close call and so forth.

There is a faster, much easier way to get the Arabian. Just ride up to it and lasso it in deadeye if it gets away follow its trail it left in the snow

You can tame it as John Marston too. At least I did, on PC. I played on a rather old version…1.13. Even after it got killed on Arthur’s last mission, lo and behold it spawned on the exact location, going there as early as epilogue part 1 (no mods). Apparently the reaction to cold is not present in part 1. I went and sold it in valentine and surprising enough, it spawned again at the exact same location, going there after epilogue 2.

@@pandy8358 make sure you are going to the correct place, and walk slow and search carefully, if you accidentally run around by it without seeing it, it will bolt off extremely far and fast. You probably scared it off without realizing, tricky to spot sometimes

It was my first time playing red dead an I was near Valentine so I looked up where the white Arabian was and it was pretty close so I rode up to the mountains, it spawned pretty quick within a minute and I got on it about 5-7 times before I tamed it, mine whenever it kicked me off didn’t really run far so I just got on my horse and then lassoed and kept getting on it lol Got it within 10 minutes Although the hard part was trying to get the bastard to the stables I got attacked by wolves about 4 times and almost died lol I’ll probably end up killing it somehow though I only got it an hour ago

True story, when I hunt for this horse, I accidentally ran into it while I was galloping 🤣. Not only that but I was also equip with my lasso, so when I dismount, I quick tame the Arabian by jumping on it's back-the Arabian in general tried to buck me off, but I succeeded in taming and gaining it's trust. Hard to believe, but it actually happened, and no wolves attacked me, so I was probably lucky

Not sure if you did it since but the whole process takes about 3 minutes from spotting the horse to having it tamed. Not sure what he thought he is doing in that video but you can approach much much much faster and then mount it straight away as soon as the button is there to do so. Then its just a few seconds of holding one direction and spamming the "calm" button. I'm pretty sure he spiced the whole thing up to make more of a video out of it but it's rather simple process.

I found that the best way to approach the horse, is to stay sill until the horse stops whinnying, and starts only making mostly lower grunting sounds. The prompt to "calm" the horse cycles about every 15 - 20 seconds I'm on a PC, but I heard the controllers vibrate to indicate the horse's heartbeat. So maybe the heartbeat is a better indication? . I think the grunting sounds indicates the horse is as calm as it's gonna be. Once it does those sounds, then be sure to crouch and only move up a bit immediately after you've tapped the calm command.

Approach 10X quicker but still with adequate subtlety. When trying to tame the bastard hold L3 down and to the right very slightly (5 degrees right from 6 o clock) for easiest success.

I got the game finally Steam $30 holiday special, so I get to the area and the Arabian wasn't there. I opened my map and came back and now he's just standing there. A good ways off to be sure. But I know he wasn't there till I looked into map. On the way from my old horse I had to pass IDK if it was a legendary moose but it was huge! Walked passed with him like 25 feet away. Then a dude comes riding through on his horse :) All the while I'm creeping up on this freakin horse. Good God, I got him eventually after maybe ten, fifteen minutes. I wasn't about to spook him enough to make him take off. I heard he's hard to find again. Plus I'd been killed about six times by wolves on the way up there. Great horse! I guess his stats are nearly maxed with minimum bonding. Great video never could of done it (well maybe) without this. Excellent! BTW been subbed for years well worth it.

You can also just brute force it sneak up on the horse whip out your lasso and hop on as quickly as possible. It's possible but kind of hard, sometimes faster though.

Just letting everyone know he was being very meticulous about this. In actuality the taming of the horse doesn’t take that long. For me, (pc) all I had to do was just walk slowly toward it and if the calm meter moved, you press g and wait like 5 seconds. Once on it you just spam g and boom. Took me like 4 mins tops

Thanks, I am going to do this now and the video seems to be way to careful and wasting too much time to possibly fail. It's much easier if you fail after running 4 minutes vs. running 15. Also I'm using Mouse/Keyboard so I don't have vibration to tell me the horses heartbeat. Sure I could plug my xbox controller in, but I dont wanna.

Wow, I had no idea you had to simply focus on the meter on the bottom right. They never made that clear in the game so I was wasting all this time not knowing how the mechanic worked. I probably would have never figured that out. Once I saw your video it took me no more than 4 minutes to get the horse. Just crouch and tap forward right after you calm the horse down. You can tap it several times right after you calm the horse. The process is quick. I pimped out my horse with a nice silver colored mohawk and braided tail. Looks awesome.

i really like how in detail this game is with the wild life. i wish they made horses harder to tame though, it feels a little too easy, i think going through a bit of hardship helps build a better bond

I understand, but most players are short tempered or impatient so it would have been really frustrating for them. Taming this horse is already pretty time consuming the way it is right now.

@@aakashbharati502 i've tamed it first time everytime on all my playthroughs, its incredibly easy, just do the exact opposite of what it does with the analog stick while calming it with right trigger, takes me less than 30 seconds once i get on its back, the only time consuming part is hiking all the way up the grizzlies

I’m surprised because ISTG I had no trouble taming this horse when I first found it. It only bucked for a lil while as well then it calmed down pretty quick. So I guess I just got lucky lmfao🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

Push forward when it’s back legs up? Backward when it’s hind legs are up? Nonsense. Read the instructions that pop up when you mount the horse. Hold down on the left stick (continue to hold down) and tilt right or left I the opposite direction you’re sliding off the horse during the break-in process.

You got the first part mixed up when the back legs are up you push down and when his front legs are up push forward I've heard this other places and it does work.

It's easily worth the price IMO, and likely game of the year. If you're holding out for a lower price or a sale I'd understand, but if you just want positive feedback then I'd say go for it. I absolutely love this game. With out giving away anything, the map is diverse to a point that some areas and their inhabitants are bone-chillingly creepy while others are both stunning and relaxing. I believe most people will find something to love about this game.

I struggled as well. In chapter 2, you need to complete 2 missions . 1st mission is Uncle's mission (1st thing in the horseshoe overlook area). This unlocks Hosea's hunting mission. As part of Hosea's hunting mission, stables will be unlocked, and you will be able to remove saddle from one horse and put it on another. This is critical to be done, before going to look for the horse. Works.
