Nice video and smart add with the selector switch.

Cool video, I have the same complaint about the small tank. I love the truck but not the tank. Install looked good man!!! What’s the part # for your solenoid?

You can remove wind noise in post.

Do you have part number on The shut off valve?

I have the opposite problem. I have a 50 gal RDS diesel tank. My truck gets 17.8 miles to the gallon and my aux tank can't keep up with the truck I have no clue what's the issue

I have the same truck and about to start on the same project. How were you able to get to those hose clamps located above the frame rails? Mine are way up in there, not sure how to get to them..... Btw - thanks for this video, very nice work.

Lots of patients and lots of cussing. I just angled them to where I could get a nut driver on there and get them tight.

Enjoyed the video and have had a transfer tank in my truck bed that gravity feeds my main tank for a couple of years. I’ve come across the same problem of forgetting to turn off the valve overnight and waking up to gallons of diesel covering my driveway. Been looking for a solution to set up a switch, wired to upfitter switch. Now that you’ve had this install for over a year, would you do anything different? Fuel pump or different type solenoid? Curious to learn from others. Dig the video. Don’t care what others said about the wind noise.

The only thing I would change and that I did change was make everything as straight as possible. I had problems with the transfer tank only gravity feeding down to about a quarter of a tank. I rerouted the hose and made everything a streamline as possible and now it drains down to completely empty.

@@markab71 fantastic... thanks brother. going to move forward with the closed switch install. Keep those videos coming.

How long does it take to move your gauge? I got the RDS 40gal low profile tank and it fits under the front box for the roll n lock cover I have. Got the filler neck kit. Bought an inline solenoid also and wired it to the upfitter switch. My house doesn't even go below the filler neck height and it seems to barely trickle
@markab713 жыл бұрын
Not much time at all. I went back and kind of streamlined the flow path. She’ll drain right on down to empty in no time.
@tomsommers49543 жыл бұрын
Hey what does your trip computer and fuel gauge do? Does the miles til empty stay the same until the aux tank goes dry or? Thanks!
@markab713 жыл бұрын
Tom Sommers yeah, just the same as a normal fill up. On a long trip it will get down to around 350, then bounce back up to 470.

So the only time leaving the valve on is a issue is when the truck is parked. If your driving it shouldn’t be a issue being that gas is being used
@Leo46033 Жыл бұрын
What is the brand/model of fuel pump you used?
@markab71 Жыл бұрын
It’s not a pump, it’s a selector valve.

looking to do the same setup. How many tools can you fit in that box. is there decent room? looking for room for a mechanics tool set a few boxes of nuts and bolts and mostly odds and ends tools to fit in there. only using the tank for some small equipment not for the truck unless needed.
@markab713 жыл бұрын
I have a socket set, jumper cables, bottle jack, box wrenches, screw drivers, tow strap and ratchet straps in there.
@confitz63 жыл бұрын
@@markab71 so was it a bigger tool box than you though. Pictures online make it look kinda small.
@markab713 жыл бұрын
@@confitz6 It’s adequate. Placement is key because of the struts that hold the lid open.

Did you not have to ground the fuel valve?
@markab714 жыл бұрын
Will Blevins it’s grounded by bolting it to the frame.
@willblevins85794 жыл бұрын
Mark- how long does it take for your aux tank to fill your truck tank?
@markab714 жыл бұрын
Will Blevins not too sure, I’m like a little kid playing with it. I’ve let her get down to 3/4 and top It off. It doesn’t just pour into there, but it’s not just a trickle. But on a trip I’ll leave it open and it maintains with no problem.
@willblevins85794 жыл бұрын
Just finished my install Monday. Only drive about 15 miles/day during the week so haven’t had much time with the valve open but haven’t seen an increase in the fuel gauge. This wknd I’m going on a 9 hour trip so we shall see

The rollover valve is essentially a float valve. When main tank is full, ball floats up and prevents overfilling
@stang19703 жыл бұрын
so when the tank is full the ball magically floats, closing the valve. And when the vehicle is upside down the ball becomes more dense and sinks to block off the opening. Or does it still float like your saying? Opening the valve so all the fuel leaks out of the hose
@dylanniles39653 жыл бұрын
@@stang1970 yes the ball "magically floats" because it is a fucking float valve like I said. It is not an actual rollover valve with a steel ball. RDS themselves calls it a rollover valve though

Help I have the gravity feed set up and working fi e for a week or two then it's like the ball gets stuck open and over fills and goes out the neck. Stop shut valve off then after a week or so it works again fine. Then repeats what is going on
