You can leave the resin tank in place and empty out the water and resin with a wet/dry shop vac. Brush any beads out of the threads before screwing the valve back on.

Hi, at 3:15 you mention Relieving ( releasing ) the pressure before disconnecting main valve from bypass valve. How do you release the pressure ? For 48000 grain or more you mention to add gravel too ? I don't believe my Fleck 5600 SXT had gravel. Also, did you recommend the use of IRON OUT powder to remove iron from the Resin ? Thanks !

On any Fleck 5600 you can start a manual regeneration. Once the system starts to backwash and push water out to the drain you then close the bypass. This will ensure the pressure in the tank is pushed out down the drain. The control valve can then be disconnected from the bypass. On a 48,000 grain you don’t have to have gravel but you can get 20lbs of gravel if you want. As for iron out powder. If you have 0.5ppm of iron up to 2ppm on a well you can use a Rescare EasyFeeder that we sell. It can be mounted on any brine tank and it feeds liquid resin cleaner at a slow rate to always ensure the resin does not become iron fouled. I can assist. It does depend on how much iron you have. If above 2ppm it’s ideal to get a separate iron filter before the softener. If you need assistance please email us and we can assist
