@MasterAMD09 Thats a centrifugal supercharger, not a turbo. They operate directly from the engine's rpms, so as soon as he takes off, the SC is spinning proportionally to what the engine is.

over here in the sunburnt country we have what is called APSA Australian Pro Street association. Which is broken down into five catagories Pro Street Blown, nitros,turbo and supercharged Pro Street Aspirated, carby /efi, Modified streetblown, Modified street aspirated, And True Street, The quickest street in Australia is the Black Capri from Trick & Manswetto runs a hemi headed 694 cub motor and runs an ASPIRATED 714/191,50mph not bad for an Aussie built street car!

And another thing: You have to look at it this way: these old muscle cars that people turn into drag racing cars have 10+ times more performance than even a Bugatti Veyron. Again, if power steering, and wider front tires were added, these cars would kill purpose-built track cars.

hate to break it to you, but he was running on C16 racing fuel at each track. I know I was there, infact he almost ran out of it at one track, but luckily someone pulled through for him. He was running 93 on the way from track to track and had to cut the belt to the pro charger each day. That way he could get like 8mpg if he was lucky.

If its got a plate and registered, drives on the street it's legal. Just because you can't get a car to pass inspection in your state doesn't mean it's not street legal.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Check out this full weight Viper with cage (3700 lbs) which is street legal and pumping out 3200+ hp. The guy drives it around town and takes his kids to school in it. I have inspected it myself and it still has full interior and A/C. He races in the Outlaw class using drag radials. Now that is a bad ass street / strip car. Crazy thing is it'll run off of 87 pump gas if need be and it's Turbo, thats crazy. The little 305 in my Camaro doesn't even like 87, although I have the timing set a tad higher to get a little more out of it on 93. Good video, great car.

very nice ... there are very few fast cars that car drive 1k miles and tow a trailer. I can't imagine the 6 second 10.5 cars making it very far across the country without a trailer.

Actually that car gets like 15mpg when it is cruising. Sucks down around 2 gallons. But that is off the racing gas that is on a switch. Fuel Cell and Gas Tank are seperated on these kinds of cars. As is ignition and pulleys/boost/plugs/wires/Carb before they leave the track.

Different purpose built cars entirely. These cars are built to go extremely fast in a straight line. Cars built for races around corners , is an entierly different animal.

@ClarkeZor Laws dictating maximum legal tire sizes are not a problem in a free country. And no, the fastest street-legal car is not from the UK. There are several street-legal cars in the USA that have run as fast as 6.90, and are not only street legal but were driven 1500 miles in the previous six days, so they are actually street drivable. Search for "drag week" and you'll find them.

down in flordia at titan motorsports check out there supra they got. That runs 7's and they got video's of them driving it to target and to eat lunch. also they can still make it get hell of a lot better gas mileage then this camaro can. But props to the camaro and the builder did a great job.

I love this vid and it's a beautiful car... not to mention fast. But, I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around world's fastest street car. Too many ways to look at it/variables. 3 years ago I watched a 80ish maroon chevy(totally stock looking) without giant wrinkle-walls run 4.6/4.7 1/8s @ around 137 mph over & over again; then drive away. Full exhaust. Richlands, NC. Only the rails were slightly quicker! Anyone ever see this car! Mexican driver. Carried left front on every launch 100+ft?

Supra's are monsters and any "v8 only" enthusiast has respect for it because those cars are their strong competition just like STI's, DSM's, Evo's, etc. etc. And 4 cylinders are capable of a lot(not rice, honda's or smart cars). People who hate on imports and american 4 cylinders like the Cobalt ss and Srt4 simply don't know shit about em, just judge them on exhaust sound regardless if they had a GT45r bolted on.

I watched this video long enough to see it was from the 2007 drag week. Several others have come along in recent years, notably Larry Larson and Jeff Lutz, that have surpassed the low 7's and into the 6's. Also, you can't compare a million dollar Bugatti or Enzo to these straight liners. It's apples and oranges.

No, that's a fact. Take a car with 1,500-2,000hp, that weighs 2,300lbs, with a center of gravity WAY lower than any skyline, drag slicks on the rear that are 15 inches wide, power steering, and 10 inch wide front tires, and a drag car will eat any car on the nurburgring. It's a fact. You must understand physics to properly understand how that would work.

and i wasnt trying to compare an f1 engine to a factory one what i was saying is that if chevy had an f1 v8 it would still be less efficient even if it was the same displacement with the same rotational mass and all that the honda would still make more power per liter because honda is better period the only ppl on the planet better than honda is yamaha. they are the industry leader and hold more records than chevy dodge and ford combined they have held the most hp/ltr since they were established

While i agree bigger is better and would like to a old muscle car like these some day there are 4 and 6 cyl cars with turbos that can get into the high 7s and low 8s. Yes they are few and far between but they exist, but cars like this camaro are few and far between on NORMAL streets on a daily basis too. And you may hate and may not agree but my 4 cyl turbo that i daily can keep up with most V8s that daily too (mostly the punk kids in a new mustang with a couple bolt ons) AND i can pass a pump

@94delsolb16a3 The lfa uses a dohc v10 and also costs about 3x more than a zr1, you have proved no point. Thats like me comparing the lfa to the veyron. A katech z06 can produce 685hp from NA 7l which gives the z06 a better power to weight ratio than the lfa for 20k over the price of a stock z06 you can beat any lfa. It took the lfa a special 50 production run edition to beat the zr1 around the nurburgring. A car you will never be able to own as they are all sold and cost almost 500k.

@94delsolb16a3 hp/liter is not where its at, hp/lb and hp/mpg is where its at. If you want to go further its all about hp and tq per lb in which case chevy bests honda. Get a honda to lap the nurburgring in the time a zr1 can and then hit me up with a response.
