I had to crack a smile that after months on the trail in which finding water was a issue, you still have to do that at home. Lol, it’s like you brought a part of the PCT home with you. An AMAZING home you guys have going there. Very impressed! Thanks for sharing!

Lol Beautiful land! And you’re doing a great job on the house….love it! Yes, please keep the videos coming! #relationshipgoals

I've lived off grid now for a few decades. Your place is way more advanced than my first place. Looks great. Its common here in Australia to have solar on homes but most aren't off grid. I know over there it depends where you live but can you have water tanks and solar hot water? If you have running water as in a river you can also set up a small water wheel and hook a battery up to that. Great for running electricity even in a shed or just backup. Your doing great.

Your home looks really nice. That’s great. When you were showing your water system, and pouring in the spring water, I was thinking it would be neat to see a giant Sawyer filter as part of the system. :-)

Awesome set up. Love your main room. I lived in a travel trailer for six years with a black tank. So disgusting. Even with chemicals it smelled terrible all the time. When I camp I do the basic compost toilet set up. It doesn’t smell at all. Even in my big tent. My kitty uses the same litter snd I put her litter in with the compost. It’s amazing how little to no smell even with her litter. I use a boost called bokashi that is something common in Korean composts to keep down smells as well. It’s basically fermented bran. It helps speed up the composting for all wastes including food wastes. I use it here at the house in my food waste/compost bin. That tree you cut down looks like it will be good firewood for the wood stove once it seasons. You got a great set up. Thanks for sharing it

I wish I was young again just to be able to do this. What an achievement. Living the dream. Sam, Moriah, that is a beautiful Home. I would love to see vlogs on the House and how you progress. I do have a question. Do you just buy land and build or do you have to get plans drawn up and permits? How much land have you got. Do you have neighbours? If so how far away? You walked to the Stream, is all that land yours? Vegetable Garden at all? Or is this on the cards? The composting toilet. I saw one on another channel and they had a urine drain fitted to the front but when you sat down. They said taking the urine off separately gave better compost. Can you sink a well for all year around water? If the river is there then the water table can't be far down. Is this on the cards at all? When the river is in full flow can you put a pipe in and pump direct? One last one, yeah I know, it's Chris Bentley again, he always a lot of questions lol. Any plans to put Solar Panels on the roof? What if it's Winter and very little Sun? Is there always enough Solar energy to get you through or do you sometimes run out of battery life? Lastly I promise 🙄 how far are you from family? Within short driving distance? I'll go now but I'll close by saying that I was looking forward to future vlogs of hiking and rock climbing but now I'm enthused for vlogs about the House and the progress. Thanks for sharing and now you are home I'll say to you what you have said to us for 5 months. Subscribe to my channel!!! I'm no match to your epic vlogs. Just an old man out hiking but if you can Subscribe, if you would like, then it would be great. I've only got 40 Subscribers so it nothing like yours.🙄😂. Irregardless, I'm looking forward to your updates. Stay Safe and Stay Well.

You two are such a beautiful and wise couple. It is kind of you to share your lives with the rest of us. You both inspired me to go from my flat land in Indio, CA to struggle through the PCT from Mammoth to Tuolumne Meadows. An easy two days was a tough 3 days for this 63 year old. My wife and I are hoping to build a place like yours on four acres in the mountains of Arizona. You are sure doing things right. God’s many blessings to you as you walk by faith.

This is really stunning. I have been following your journey, and I am just amazed and moved by your story. It is very inspirational, and I can't get enough of it. Circumstances and life got in the way and I also have chosen some poor decisions. Which got me to the point where I am right now trying to gain control and a positive mindset back. Watching your experiences helps me to get stronger in the choices I am making now. Thank you again for sharing and wishing you the best :)

This is really inspiring, and I’m thoroughly impressed. Looks really liveable and an absolutely awesome spot. IMO the real estate market is cooked, we having rising interest rates and nosebleed home prices so the fact you’ve successfully managed to find an alternative way to make a home is amazing work. Was the block very expensive and is it a long drive to the nearest town? Love all the trees and especially the creek. What more do you need in life 👍

Are you running those solar panels in series or parallel. Are you trying to boost amps or volts basically. Looks like a sweet setup. Those look like gel batteries since they are mounted sideways which is cool for sure. How’s the maintenance on those things? Rad off grid spot with a river. Holy smokes you guys are livin!
@Craig_Parsons2 жыл бұрын
Seems like you have a lot of battery storage around 10kw? Do your panels keep up with your needs? Or do you have to use a generator occasionally. Do you have plans to pump water from the river directly and not have to use the blue cans to collect water. Looks like you could incorporate a water wheel to either pump water or make electricity. I ask because I have similar issues with my off grid house. How much sun do you get in the short winter days? Lol so many question so little time. Great job!
