Re-Queening Swarms -Out With The Old / In With The New

We will re-queen a few of the swarms we have caught. We will not pinch them, we will move them to nucs to make resource hives. Will this work? We will know in a month. #honeybees #beekeeper #beekeeping

Actually I think a queenless hive makes more honey due to I think not having anything else to do besides raising a new queen. Great idea buddy, good looking bees. God bless.

Once you see a capped cell (if it is a swarm cell) you need to move the queen not the cell…. However it could be a supercedure cell which then you leave them both alone…. If it is a swarm cell they likely will swarm anyways…. Even if she is still in there…. Also, did you feed these NUCS Sugar Water? I believe you did in previous videos.. the honey you got with this flow is mixed with sugar water honey…. They will move it up into supers to give room for the queen…. Just a heads up it is still honey the bees make it so…. Just not solely nectar based honey…. Take care stay at it…

As of this past Saturday, they were all still in the box so far. Yes, I fed this nuc 1 gallon and am not planning on pulling honey off of it. I have put empty foundation on them hoping they will build me a box of comb. The other nuc I bought, I did not feed and they are making honey now.

When you remove the queen like that, how do they make a new queen? Existing egg?

Yes, they will make a new queen, you just have be sure that you leave fresh eggs. Takes 16 days from when the egg was laid. Thanks for watching and good luck.
