It's a bit saddening that this was the only time in ther Terminator series we get to see a terminator of the T-800 series being a terminator, rather then a glorified watchdog/babysitter. It's understandable why Arnold complained about the friendly non killing Terminator in Judgement Day.
@fthprodphoto-video53575 жыл бұрын
Zer0dog the only reason T800 behaved like a bsbysitter with 0 kills is to maintain a larger audience. T2 remains a great movie but totally lacks the genuine viceral tension of the first movie.
@daveruda5 жыл бұрын
YES! The movies have totally nerfed and neutered the T800 to the point of being a gag. I did like the fight at the end of Salvation when its a proper sneaky evil machine again.
@Michael.Polistena19975 жыл бұрын
@@fthprodphoto-video5357 It has the T-1000 which was even worse. We saw what a bad t-800 could do in this movie and they upped the stakes by adding an even more powerful Terminator in the second.
@oneandonlysound995 жыл бұрын
At least in the first sequel, he is still brutal. He basically "learns" to "be human," but is still a machine, and if he lived, probably would've always been more brutal, or at least until John and Sarah were older fighting the far, if you want to run with "judgement day is inevitable." I don't find that T2 answers that, seeing as Arnold is still present, though it kinda made for a though provocative ending. Much better than the forced "being human" jokes in Genesis, basic "already is good" for T3 (best moment in that film is when the terminatrix reprograms him and then he shuts himself off eventually) or his literal absence and only likeness on a single T-800 in a factory (after T3 said he comes off an assembly line and cut a scene showing he was being used as a model) in Salvation. An army or even a dozen Arnolds would've made an epic showdown. Can we just get a future film written by someone who actually watched the future war scenes from 1-2 and make that movie, and stop trying to be "hip" or whatever (salvation put the final nail in the coffin when it brought in the transformers-esque robot, even if the 3rd act was far better than the rest of the film to me).
@oneandonlysound995 жыл бұрын
but he literally was killing people or hurting them pretty badly, up until the "mostly knee shot" scene which isn't exactly the definition of "being nice," only sparing lives. If he hadn't "learned" or "become more human" because of John and a little Sarah, he would've been far more brutal, and yet everybody loved him that way. Until it went on repeat in later films at least. @Zer0dog
@felinusfeline55593 жыл бұрын
This whole scene has so many little touches it's insane. The way Sarah reacts when she hears the shooting like she's thinking "no, not again!" The T800 calculating how to shoot a moving target through cover. The way Arnie's movements are just a little bit "off" to show he's not human. Plus how Traxler and his partner are put down so quickly. We've seen them for much of the film, and grown to like them, only to have them snuffed out in seconds. It hammers home how puny humans are in comparison to this machine.

Ray 69; you are correct about the special effects being the only good parts. The story lines are becoming so bad as to make them difficult to watch. This is honestly my favourite scene in the movie. Not just because of the badassory of Arnold, but because this scene perfectly encapsulates the fear you'd experience from being hunted by a killing machine. Even inside a heavily guarded police station full of professionals that would normally keep you safe, you can never outrun him. And he'll never stop until you're dead. In real life, that would honestly haunt you for the rest of your life.
