Maybe the 'curse' is actually a barrier, similar to Sanctuary's. Remember, shamanism and curse slinging are arts related to the shamans of Gusteko in the north as stated by Beatrice in Arc 2. So, they might not have that much knowledge in an isolated southern land like Vollachia, especially so in an even MORE isolated island like the Gladiator's Island. Ergo, it might be easy for them to simply confuse barriers with curses.

Things we know from this chapter 1) Cecilus doesn't know why he was here, probably means that it's the effect of being Shota, or he was "drunk" And then turned into shota, and transported to the island. 2) Its now mentioned that it is only Al who left the Gladiators. This can be a valuable information as Al basically resisted the curse of the Island. 3) Tanza is weak might indicate that the explosion doesn't affect her, though it consumes a lot of mana. This might be why Yorna was worried as she wasn't sure if the calamity would be gone after the explosion. 4) *Remember Lye Batenkaitos?* This guy had eliminated Neji, and stole his ability. This proves that Lye was unaffected by Curse when he exited Gladiator. 5) Theory: According to some of my theories, Garfiel's father could be on Gladiators, probably waiting for Garf's mom. Somehow Garfs mom was another escaper but is not known to the world. So there can be Garf father encountering Subaru and thinking he is Al, if he has met Al before at Gladiators. Edit: Ublik also escaped Gladiator, according to his side story.

According to Cecilus's explanation to the curse, it looks directly related to the logic of love of Capella. She often killed the people who weren't loyal to her, or failed to do her task, which kind of resembles here as well. So, if the curse existed before Al, it should be related to Carmilla Or Capella or something about Lust.

It is worth mentioning that Subaru is worried because his mentality is turning into a child too. This chapter makes a lot of comparisions in Subaru's actions, for example: it states that the adult Subaru would not give his real name in that circunstance, also when Subaru asks Cecilus "How can you be excited in this situation?" he as an adult would never make that question. Another relevant thing, Subaru states that his homesickness is getting hard to control, and if his mental state fully turn into a child, he will start crying. So basically, his parkour is sealed because his physical body lost its former strength, without Beatrice he can't fight, and without his adult mentality, RbD loses its eficiency. So in summary, he's seriously fucked now.

But going back to the topic, I think there should be atleast some casualties from traveling merchants, tourists, etc. who were not associated with Jorna at all that just happened to be there. First thing those merchants was doing was selling shit for a living, the next thing they know, half of their body is flatten by debris, the other half is scattered around by the explosions.

Tappei doesn’t have a set schedule I believe- the last time he posted a chapter was two months ago. He goes on writing spurts for a couple weeks and then just stops for like a month. The thing is that we dont know the exact "upper limit" of his condition. Only that it can be something between a month of so, because Subaru is yet to suffer from mana poisoning side effects. More troublesome is the fact that it is Beatrice who is in more precarious state than Subaru. She is on a battery safe mode for she would be the first among the two of them to go out due to mana shortage. Edit: the shinobi technique applied by Olbart didn't revert any acquired unnatural changes to their bodies, such as scars or lost limbs, and that's why I doubt that it could restore his broken gate.

First off, Subaru has one, which is incredibly odd to begin with, when you think about it. He probably didn't have one surgically placed in him or anything, so it just kind of appeared. Same goes for Al. If we're going to be technical, this iteration of Subaru's body shouldn't even have a gate, but it might still exist through means we aren't aware of. More importantly, the technique revoked Al's Authority, but not Subaru's. I don't quite understand why yet. We know Subaru is especially compatible with witch factors, which might mean that his authority didn't leave his body as easily as Al's. Or, perhaps because Subaru is being granted Return by Death, he can't have it disabled. I digress. Olbart's infantilization technique affected Al's Authority. It's not impossible it could affect Subaru's gate, or his authorities of Sloth or Greed. Not that Cor Leonis has been particularly helpful since getting separated from the Emilia Camp to begin with. Tl;Dr: Olbart messed with Al's Authority, so he could have messed with Subaru's gate.

@@ShuraEssays I believe that Subaru doesn't possess the RBD directly but is acting as a proxy for the Witch, meaning that their gates are linked together (something akin to contract between Julius and his quasi-spirits, when in Arc6 they didn't know who he was, but connection was still in effect) and when Subaru gets flatlined it triggers the reset. Olbart messed with his gate, distorting, but not severing their link, and that's why RBD didn't work as inteded. And about broken gate being healed, even if temporarily, we do know that Tappei is too cruel to Subaru to actually buff him. It's irreversible just like Ram losing her horn, which is, according to q&a, won't be restored and she will have to rely on Rem much like Subaru on Beatrice for the rest of their lives.
