Subaru seem to be the only one that was not affected at least for a while. I wonder what the condition for being hit by it is. The first idea is that the curse exists but it acts as an emergency kill switch. Which is why the boss of the island didn't activate it. The second idea could be that only a divine general can activate the curse. As for why subaru was not affected. I think it is because of the shota curse. If this is true the Cecil's should be in a similar situation.

It's Subaru's witch scent that is alerting Todd , and Arakiya just needs to see him to suspect something. Why is it that when it looks like thing can’t get any worse tappi just love to hit us with a death like come on. The situation just keep on getting worse. 1. Subaru is still a child and is losing memories the longer he stays like that. 2. Trying to find a way off this stupid island which we have no idea about what is going or what can kill us. 3. We have no idea who we need to get off this island so we don’t die a million times. 4. We now have to deal with the worst person we could ever have run into on this god forsaken island. I don’t get why people find it interesting or how the plot is driven by Subaru dying or some random enemy showing up, this only tells me that this situation is just getting worse. Maybe because I like it when Subaru takes the time to figure out the situation because I am sick of him die so much that I need a good break from it for like at least 30 chapters because this is insane. People calling this slow pact have no idea just how scary having no information can be in this light novel, why do you think Subaru dies so much it’s because we have little to no information. Like one event this arc just one where this just dose get solved with return by death, that is all I need.

Also with how tappi writes the story it makes you think no matter what happens even when Subaru doesn’t die. What I am saying is that we could at least use a little 20 or 30 chapter break where we are not getting hit with one death after another. Cents the Arc started we have been getting hit with back to back deaths nonstop and it just want our boy to just be okay for a while without the looming threat of death every 10 minutes. I am just saying give the man a break and let him get the time he needs to catch his breath. What I said about giving Subaru a break is because the man just got done deal with the shit in arc 6 coming fresh out of that and here we are in a whole new location, damn near everyone wants you killed, we are stuck in the body of a toddler, we are gradually losing memories, we have to wonder what is going on with witch cultist and pray that she does start remembering anything, and now we are on an island with a curse that can kill everyone in a second with a jack ass with no problem destroying everything to get his way with the big cherry on top that is return by death having a very short respond time now. And I know someone is going to say Louis is harmless but people seem to forget that this is tappi we are taking about he would just at the chance to sucker punch us and hit us with a new problem. So as much a Louis has helped us I am still keeping my eye on this girl because people are very quick to for get that this little girl was the main source of problems in arc 6. So while everyone else seems to be convinced I am going to go the Otto approach and keep holding on to my worries until I have very strong evidence that she is not a threat. And the times she die for Subaru don’t count because what ever is going on with her she has imprinted on Subaru at this point in time.

Here are some points that people must know 1) Arakiya can mask her presence by dividing into shadows. 2) Arakaiya is known to hunt for Cecilus so that she becomes 1st strongest divine general. But Cecilus is way stronger. But now it's a different case because he is a child. So technically, Cecilus should devise plans against Arakiya. How everyone died? The theory of inducing a curse is quite a possibility to consider. But it's just weird, you see. "A curse must affect everyone" Besides the survival of Todd against the curse, Subaru himself survived it with some wounds. Hence it shouldn't be a curse. What I feel is that there's another character within the carriage that might have used a spell to odd one out Subaru. Since Todd knows the scent of Subaru, he ordered this certain character to use that spell. This resulted everyone to die and Subaru to survive. Truly Brutal. *Additional theory. This spell worked similar to Echidna's Miasma, but only strong people survived.*

"Hey, I thought that the guy on the island was rooted down to death." Idk what he even means by "that guy". Was he talking about Cecilus and thought he is alive by mistaking him to be Subaru? Whatever the case might be, this scene should not repeat the next loops, because it will create infinite loop of death. Hence This loop death is directly related to Subaru's action, which is the reason why I think it shouldn't be a cuse meant to kill everyone anyways. This sorcery seems like a type of Echidna's Miasma, but only strong individuals survive. So Subaru was one of them, I suppose. But he didn't manage it for long compared to Todd.

I think they were poisoned. Remember when Abel tried to use poison to take Guaral? I think Todd chose this same strategy to get rid of them. The reason he's not getting affected by the poison should be because he has an antidote. As for why he used poison, I believe he was trying to kill Cecilus. The only reason Arakya and Todd are on the island is because Berstetz ordered Arakya to get rid of a problem there that only she would be capable of. I strongly believe this 'problem' is Cecilus. Arakya probably wanted to confront Cecilus head-on but Todd must have come up with this strategy to make their job easier. Basically, they are on the island to assassinate Cecilus, Subaru and the others are just collateral damage. I can see this going in two directions, one harder and one easier: Easier route: Subaru gets Cecilus' help to deal with Arkya and Todd. Harder route: Cecilus doesn't help lmao. Subaru will either have to talk his way out, flee or come up with an insane strategy to beat them like using the gladiators as an army to fight Arakya. That would be pretty cool, though. Especially if his cor leonis come into play.

This chapter showed new information and clear progression of in universe time and development. It also showed new mystery. Is the curse active?,why are they here?, and what can they do?. This chapter can and did develop intrigue. Plus the previous are literally about gaining info on COMPLETELY NEW characters and location. Todd and arakiya are characters we are familiar with, todd in particular is very interesting. Maybe instead of just looking at subaru dies, you should think about what happened within chapters and what may happen.

The plot after this arc is form others prospective and there seems to be a terrifying seemly all-knowing monster child burning the west of Vollachia and always wining battles against larger forces with amazing tactics and strategy

i think subaru will need to befriend todd and avoid arakiya to succeed in this coming chapter. maybe the curse is real or maybe its one of the arrivals powers, but either way subaru survives until the end of the dying. I think the fail condition is tod getting the okay to check for witches-sent, or he and arakiya both have suspicions of the kid subaru and compair notes. tod mightve known it was subaru at the end there.

Resulting in Todd noticing and killing him. Even if Subaru somehow managed to _honestly_ attempt to befriend Todd, I doubt Todd believes in friendship let alone wants to be friends with anyone to begin with. Guy's a psychopath fr fr. 😩

I have a theory that Todd being as perceptive and attentive as he is, will realize Subaru is looping just by the sheer intuition he will have in this loop (and the previous run ins with him) but will die before revealing it to anyone

Or he will die because he tries to reveal it. Depending on the timing, it may even seem like Subaru has some kind of divine presence/ability -- maybe even the protection of the Yang sword. That would be a really bad ass way to do it.

Doesn't seem so. I mean it's really difficult for anyone to figure out that Subaru is looping. They will only know that he has great timing. Looping is not a very intuitive concept for people other than Subaru. There are also theories about Vincent knowingly about his ability but who knows.

@@a5hengaming well the combination of the Olbart's uninvited scene, escape from Guaral ambush, and the monster fight in the forest are scenes where Subaru seemingly found a way out of everything even though he does not show exceptional intelligence. Subaru's survival skills are too good to be true, and someone as intelligent as Vincent should have already known Subaru isnt normal after those 3 extreme events. Heck, when Subaru got teleported (he vanished in their povs), Vincent's course of action was just to spread rumors: If Subaru is alive, he WILL be alive, and the rumors will force Subaru back to Vincent and the empire's game. If Subaru is dead from the explosion, well he is dead.

I dont think most people knows or even thinks about time travelling or looping. Let alone a man who rely on logic to assume a person is capable of such a feat. The fight at guaral could be done without looping,the siege didnt seem to be planned by subaru and their first encounter could be explained without looping. While subaru is suspicious, he doenst come up with insane strategies or very specific instructions.

@@Awardsnow Subaru already got reverted to a child, let’s remember that the natural common sense and logic of the Re zero world is far from our world. Time travel magic is possible as stated in the story by someone(I think Beatrice?) From Todd’s perspective in Guaral, Subaru was just walking along the street and randomly stopped to yell at Todd who was defintely too far and quiet to reasonably be outed. Now; one way or another we are going to see Subaru prevent Todd’s/Arakiyas mass attack on the island before they probably fight to the death, where I imagine Todd will say something about it I just wouldn’t be suprised if Todd managed to think that way, not saying it will happen but he has already showcased crazy perception before
