There's a line that really sticks out to me that takes place after Subaru and Louis leave Abel and the others. When we see Abel's POV we hear him say "fool" to "nobody in particular" (page 172 of the compiled web novel volume). Now he could be saying it in reference to Subaru running away from them, but I really like the idea that he is lamenting his own foolishness for not considering how Subaru and Louis might react to his words before speaking. It's a line that I feel like really adds to Abel and gives us a peak under the mask of strength his character wears (A mask that is one of an oni, the strongest species of demi-humans).

Great episode! Up to this point, this was easily my favourite phase of arc 7. Although I understand that it starts somewhat slow, as was mentioned, it's really not that bad when binged. The cliff-hanger is amazing, the story developments were incredible, and it highlights mysteries that we never even considered. It's sad that this phase had to be so controversial because for me it encapsulates so much about what makes Re:Zero great: the mystery, the character interactions, the busy and depth-filled world, etc. I can't wait for when you guys read the next phase!

Hmm. The witch can't see Subaru while he is within Al's domain? Interesting theory. It could be a layering issue, like Satella's domain is the entire RZ world and Al's domain exists as a smaller space within the world / within Satella's domain. I think that theory added to the fact that Subaru has become younger by about 8 years or so and the witch wouldn't be able to recognize him or understand that he was younger. Idk. Complex gears turning here.

48:48 At this point I was realizing it can only become more and more intense each time Subaru returns by death because his miasma increases each time. The horned people just went nuts on him and got angrier each time around and the miasma is probably another reason why. I wonder if just being around Subaru when he returns by death might be enough to soak you in the witches scent. I don't know if there is any evidence of that happening but it might be another thing Tappei has thought of.

There's no reason for them to smell it... The oni don't even all smell it and why Rem had that ability awakened is a mystery(the oni species have nothing to do with horned demihumans as a whole like their horns are just animal features).

I dont belive so. Her tea was only stated to make him 1) an apostle of greed and 2) control his sloth WF Her charms on him were successfull vecause she was mimicing the girls he likes based on his memories
