This whole chapter was really good. Sphinx and Priscilla's conversation was excellent. The bit at the end with Arakiya and the implication that she's now housing Muspel as its anchor in the missing convict's place was nicely set up. But the two parts of the chapter that stuck out to me the most both involved Sphinx. The first of the two is about her rapid acquirement of emotions as a result of her death, as well as the way she treated her death. Sphinx is no longer a simple emotionless husk; she is beginning to understand emotions and grow like never before. This has the side effect of making her feel like a dark reflection of Subaru... The opportunity to die presented itself, and like Subaru, when faced with death, she made use of it the best she could. What Subaru aptly named "Escape by Death" is the perfect pseudo-ability to reflect her newfound mentality. I wonder how she'll adjust her plans to create a paradise now that she has emotions. The second of the two involves Sphinx's quote at 6:08. She is aware of important terms, using "the Witch of the Kingdom" and "the Great Disaster of the Empire", the same terms that Ubilk used when referring to the four disasters in Arc 7, Chapter 109. In other words, *Sphinx is aware of the four disasters, knowledge that is only privy to Stargazers.* She knew about the Witch of the Kingdom and tried to become it, and at the moment, she is aware that she became the Great Disaster of the Empire. You may ask, "How could Sphinx have known about them if she is not a Stargazer?" Good question. In Sword Demon Battle Ballad, it's heavily implied that Sphinx had a connection to the former Sin Archbishop of Pride, Stride Vollachia, who we know to be a Stargazer. Stride is the key. There is a good chance that he is the one who divulged the existence of the disasters to Sphinx, though why he would do this remains unclear. Although it could've also been Echidna, it'd be a whole lot more compelling if Stride was the one responsible for this.

But why is she gaining emotions only now? We know that she was created because of incomplete soul that Echidna fit into a Ryuzu clone. All those centuries she travelled with that incomplete soul and gained no emotions.. But why just now? Did her soul change? I can somehow relate this change to Olbarts Infant ability where people who are turned kids lose their memories gradually. Incomplete soul side effects ---> Emotionless Change of Od (compression) ---> Loss of memory gradually.

​@@konoveldorada5990 Sphinx gave up her life to prove that she had gained emotions. She possessed them before her death. I don't think the how is clear, but the reason _why_ is... Priscilla. This is what Sphinx attempted to convey, and what Priscilla picked up on, at the end of the first section.

all of this is interesting, if sphinx is developing emotions she might be even more dangerous. priscilla not being hurt is definitely strange, her luck is strange to me.

So Priscilla considers herself and stargazers to be slaves to something bigger. Whatever Sphinx was showing to Priscilla, it won't be good. Most likely she is gonna show fight between Arakiya and Al+ Cecilius. If it's real portal, then Al could jump into it for his princess. Perhaps if Priscilla showed Sphinx how to understand attachments, Sphinx could teach Priscilla the same with Arakiya and Al.

When I read it, I got the impression that it was implying that Sphinx was a stargazer now and that blew my mind.

I find it highly unlikely that this the case. She's gaining her own unique emotions and already has a goal independent of the Observers'. She doesn't need to be one of their direct pawns because the mere act of trying to bring destruction to Vollachia is serving some of their interests. In addition, she was connected to Stride Vollachia in the past, so the source of her knowledge that only Stargazers know of is almost certainly him.

Sphinx saying she was chosen to the empire's calamity probably means someone is orchestrating the four disasters and I think it's pandora.

Pandora's probably not one of the 12 known Observers. The one(s) deciding what it is would have to be among them. They feel more like metaphysical beings than anything else.

Sphinx is the only person who has access to the Sacrament of the Immortal King, besides maybe Pandora or Capella, but they're not involved. We know that Sphinx is the one behind the spell because a side effect of SotIK is that the revived undead follow the will of the spell's caster. Since the zombies are following Sphinx, I'd say it's pretty obvious that she's activating the spell. We don't exactly know how she's activating it. Muspel is involved. It seems to be the one using the restoration magic.

@@PH_777 Sphinx is still following her own will, and not anyone else's. She's also connected with the Muspel spell. If some other person revived her, she would've just been an average corpse soldier instead of a zombie of her making. It would also detract from her character to put someone else in control of her the whole time. Sphinx deserves to be her own antagonist.

Idk how she chooses to be abusive or toxic towards them but she is For example she once threw al in a lake just for the laugh, she tried to kill heinkel because he angered her, something the story won't allow characters like Subaru to do
